Chereads / I Made Him an Alpha / Chapter 34 - Bundle of Joy

Chapter 34 - Bundle of Joy

"Just write down your name and we'll be right with you." The nurse hands me the clipboard and I see about twenty names before mines.

I send Chris an exasperated expression from where she's sitting in the doctor's office. She rolls her eyes and gets up from her seat, walking up to me.

"Please don't tell me it's a long wait," Chris says. I show her the waiting list and she practically faints. "We don't have time for this," she breathes out.

She turns to the receptionist and I feel a wave of magic come from her.

"Tell Mr. Doctor Man that he has a pregnant patient out here and she needs her check up now." Chris wasn't really patient today with her being on her period. That shit really turns her into a monster.

It's understandable with she doesn't want to wait because I definitely don't want to wait long either.

She compels the lady to obey and she scurries off to find the doctor.

"Goodness, Chris. Could you be more subtle," I ask her, laughing.

"You rather wait here for hours," she asks me with a smile on her face. "I just want to make sure my niece is ok," she says.

"How do you know it's going to be a girl and not a boy," I ask her. I don't mind what the gender of the baby is going to be. I just want to make sure I take care of him or her.

"It's going to be a girl because I said it's going to be a girl," she says, sounding like a baby. The lady at the desk comes back.

"Doctor Salazar will be with you in a moment," she says and goes back to her job.

"Ms. Micheal." Chris and I turn around to the male voice that called me. The doctor stands, holding the door that leads to one of the many rooms in the hospital. He motions for us to follow him.

Inside the room looks like any other ordinary hospital room, but I knew for certain that Doctor Salazar isn't any ordinary doctor.

"Werewolf, witch, or vampire" he asks me, setting up for my check up.

"Witch, but the baby is half werewolf," I fill him in. Doctor Salazar is a supernatural doctor. He's human and works in a human hospital, but he sneaks in a couple of supernatural patients. I'm really surprise that he's brave enough to have supernatural patients. Humans are the most vulnerable against supernatural beings and one of them can kill him at any moment.

It wasn't hard to find him. Chris said Petra went to him when she was pregnant with Chris. There aren't many supernatural doctors just roaming around though. Each had two or three doctors, vampires don't need doctors because their dead, unless there are vampire illnesses I don't know about, and witches are basically human, so they can go to human doctors, unless they have a supernatural problem. In that case, they'll have to go through supernatural connections to find a doctor.

"Do you know how far along you are or when was your last period," he asks me. He brings out this weird looking machine and rolls it by the hospital geriatric, reclining chair and tells me I can have a seat.

"Five months." The doctor's eyebrows shoot up in surprise.

"That baby's grow fast. At that rate, you'll be giving birth early, but no worries. It's to be expected. Werewolves grow fast. Hopefully the baby doesn't rip you apart," he says the last part jokingly, but serious at the same time.

"You have pregnant vampire clients," Chris asks, successfully changing the topic after the doctor's dark humor.

"You'd be surprised what magic can do. Get a witch to keep a vampire's body alive long enough to grow the baby in the mother womb and give birth and viola, that's all. It takes a lot of magic and it's pretty hard to find a witch willing to drain her energy for ten months. It's like bringing back the dead."

"Interesting," Chris says. I see a thought run through her mind and an unknown feeling in her eyes, but it passes quickly.

"Enough of that. Let's check on your bundle of joy." He moves over to the machine he pulled out.

"What's that," I ask him, kinda scared of the foreign object. This is actually my first check up since I found out I was pregnant. My mind was never on getting a check up because of all the traveling Chris and I were doing.

Chris was the one that actually suggested I go get a check up. We were sitting on the couch and watching the baby kick from inside the womb. It looked scary to be honest, but it gave me this warm feeling.

Over these past few months, I feel like I've built a bond with my baby. I can't imagine ever losing him or her.

"It's just an ultrasound machine. It only looks like this because it's built for supernaturals. It's harder to see supernaturals in the womb. Werewolves build a strong shield around themselves for protection and witches have this powerful pulse that hides them from human technology. Your baby is both, so it'll be twice as hard to see them. Can you lift your shirt, so I can see your stomach.

I follow his directions and he applies this cold substance on my stomach. He turns on the machine and place it on my stomach. A strong thumping sound comes through the machine and I feel my baby kicking hard from the cold substance.

"The baby's a feisty one for sure and heart beat is healthy. I'll just look around to see if everything is developing great." The doctor does his thing and I turn to see my baby on the screen.

"I think she's looking at us," Chris says. "It's kind of creepy." My baby is playing in the womb and eating it's feet. Chris is right. His or her eyes were set looking right at us.

I could tell already that the baby will have Alaric's eyes and mouth. Their nose will definitely be mines. To think we all start out this little.

"They're perfect," I whisper. I can feel loose tears falling from my eyes and I let out a little sob. Chris comes closer to me and rubs my back as I cry. The doctor finishes up what he's checking and gives me something to wipe the stuff off my stomach.

"I took some pictures for you to keep. Did you want to know the gender," he asks. He could tell I was a little emotional right now.

"I- I don't know," I tell him. He goes to get the printed out images of the baby and puts it in an envelope.

"The results of the gender are in there, but if you ever change your mind and don't want to find out, I printed a picture without the gender on it." He hands me the envelope and a seperate picture that's not inside of it.

I look down at my precious baby and dry my tears.

"Thank you, Dr. Salazar." He nods his head in appreciation.

"Come for a check up whenever you need to. Any emergencies, here's my number." He hands me a card with all his information. "No need to compel the receptionist next time," he tells Chris and she chuckles.

Chris and I leave the hospital and head home. When we get there, I sit at the dining table, contemplating if I want to find out the gender of the baby.

"You want me to look," Chris asks me. It didn't feel right for me to find out the gender. Something is missing and it's bothering me.

"No. I'm just going to put it away. I don't want to find out the gender yet."

I hide it under my sock drawer and decide that's where I'd leave it until it's the right time.
