Chereads / I Made Him an Alpha / Chapter 31 - Death

Chapter 31 - Death

The growling got louder and it sounded like a big pack of wolves. Alaric's wolf vision could see farther than mine and by the look on his face, I could tell we were in a lot of trouble.

"We have to go. Now," Alaric tells me. He grabs my hand and helps me stand up from the porch.

"What's going on," I ask him, but he just drags me inside the house. When we get inside, everyone is already standing, alert.

"The boarder just got attack," my dad says.

"I know. Their already heading here and fast. What the hell happened," Alaric asks.

"Rogue attack, but it doesn't make any sense," Petra says looking confused. We followed my dad to the basement where all the pack members were gathered in a panic. No one was getting suited up or ready to fight.

Petra is right. A rogue attack didn't sound right. Rogues are wolves that used to have a pack, but were exiled for breaking serious laws. You can tell a wolf is a rogue because their eyes are red in wolf form and in human form, they smell displeasing. Your body as the urge to stay away from them.

The thing that didn't make sense though, was that rogues traveled alone. They didn't group together, so the fact that rogues were attacking right now and got past the warrior guards meant that this was a big problem.

Rogues shouldn't be this strong.

"Where's Alpha," one of them asks and I could hear all of them asking each other the same thing in a panic.

"No one can mind link him. What do we plan to do," Don says, talking to Alaric and my dad.

"We have to get them calm and ready for battle," my dad says. He tried to get everyone's attention, but everyone is panicking.

Finally, Alaric gets fed up with it and sends a loud growl through the room. Everyone gets quiet in submission. No one had a choice, but to obey the future alpha.

Alaric is finally taking charge.

"Everyone needs to calm down. Being in a panic is not going to help us defeat these rogues. This is not a time to be cowards," Alaric says. His voice vibrates through the basement.

"You would know what being a coward is, wouldn't you?" The smart-mouth comment comes from one of the pack members and it makes everyone start doubting Alaric's ability to be a leader.

Alaric growls at the pack again and they grow quiet once more.

"I don't care what you think of me, but at this moment I am your alpha and I am above you. You will obey me." Alaric's demanding and determined stance forced the pack to bow their heads and that's only capable by the power of an alpha. Alaric continued giving orders to the pack members. He didn't have much time, but he organized a battle plan that could only work in our favour.

Pack members start running out and I could already hear the war beginning. I can't remember the last time I've trained, but I can already feel the familiar adrenaline coursing through me. I grab Dragon's Blood, my long forgotten companion and I almost feel guilty.

"I'm sorry I forgot about you," I tell Dragon's Blood. I run out of the basement and I'm stopped when I come in front of an obstacle called Alaric's chest.

Look at those beautiful abs. He's definitely been working harder on fitness and in training.

"I'm not letting you go out there." When I hear those words come from Alaric's mouth, my ab gazing is put to a stop. I look up at his face and I see that he's serious.

"What," I ask him.

"I'm not letting you go out there. I don't know what I'll do if you get hurt." Most people would have seen this as a sweet gesture, but I didn't. My eyes glaze over in anger.

"What? Because you think I'm a weak little girl? I'm not strong enough?" I go up into his face, neither of us backing down. "Don't forget that I was the one who made you strong. Don't forget that before I trained you, you were the shy boy that stayed in his room until everyone was done eating breakfast. Don't forget that I was the one that got everyone to respect you."

I don't know what came over me, but I could feel this rush through my body. I felt this familiar coldness and I didn't know where it came from, but one thing I know for sure was that I wasn't below Alaric and he needed to understand that.

"Anne, you sure you want to do this," I hear Petra ask me and I knew she was worried more for the safety of the baby.

I wasn't planning on keeping the baby, so it's safety wasn't really my priority right now.

"I know how to handle myself. Let's stop wasting time," I tell them. Alaric looked like he wanted to say something, but after the speech I just gave him, he stopped himself.

We ran out of the pack house and onto the battlefield. There was blood and a lot of it.

This was a big group of rogues. Almost as big as our pack. They were almost overpowering us, which shouldn't be possible. This meant someone is training these rogues and someone is funding them.

I watched as different wolves from this pack fought the wolves with the red eyes. I could see my father in the distance holding a wolf back with a spell. Another was trying to sneak attack him from behind.

Before the wolf could succeed in doing so, I rushed over and slashed it's head off with Dragon's blood. My dad looked surprised to see me, but smiled at the fact that I joined the war and didn't just shy away and hide.

I smiled back at him, but gagged at the smell of the blood on me. Rogues blood smells disgusting.

My mind went into a cold state as I battle against the rogues. I almost fell in love again with the pain I was causing. I haven't felt like this in a long time and it kind of scared me.

At this moment I wasn't human. I'm something different.

"Anne, watch out," I hear Hanna shout from a couple of feet away.

I was blanked out for a second and Hanna snapped me out of it. I looked up and there was a rogue charging towards me. I didn't have enough time to react, but a force on my side pushed me out of the way and my head thudded on the grass.

I was dizzy for a second, but when my eyes refocused, I was face to face with a wolf and bright hazel eyes.

I knew exactly who it was.

Alaric's wolf is huge. His fur is a dark, midnight black, but his ears have spots of white. His hazel eyes bore into mine and I could hear him clearly.

"I'm not letting you die," he said. He wasn't speaking out loud, but he was mind linking.

How is that possible? Wolves could only mind link other wolves. I've never heard of a wolf mind linking a witch.

Before I can think more on it, I hear a painful scream come from behind us. I get up on my feet and I can see Chris crotched over a body, but the painful scream came from Chris.

Petra.

Petra's body lays unconscious on the grassy field and seeing this scene made it feel as if time froze. Chris sat next to her mother's body crying her soul out, trying to shake her awake. No matter how hard she tried, nothing worked.

Savage claw marks could be seen all over Petra and she bled out into a pool of red. For something so savage, it was almost beautiful. It was like her body was surrounded by roses.

If only that were the case.

A big energy casted from out of Petra's body and it blasted across the battlefield.

Rouges around us died in an explosion of blood and tumbled to their deaths. The battle was over in a quick second.

Her final spell to the world was casted.
