Chereads / I Made Him an Alpha / Chapter 9 - Seeing Red

Chapter 9 - Seeing Red

"I've just noticed. Your eyes aren't purple anymore." It was true, my eyes were back to their original color. Unlike Chris's sage green eyes, mines were a mix of gray and green. A combination made by my mom and dad.

After the girls and I ate at the mall food court, we headed back to the pack house. Hanna and Jaisley were gone, doing whatever they do.

Jaisley seemed way too excited.

It was just Chris and I. We were trying to find our parents. There was a crowd gathered in the back of the pack house and we went to see what was going on. I'm pretty sure we guessed right when I heard my dad yelp.

"GET OFF OF ME, YOU GREEN EYED MONSTER!"

"IT'S YOUR FAULT YOU'RE IN THIS POSITION. YOU SHOULD HAVE NEVER PUT ME IN A TRAP LIKE AN ANIMAL."

It sure was my dad and aunt Petra. Chris and I pushed to the front of the crowd to see that they were playing a dangerous game of cat and mouse.

My dad managed to escape from Petra's hold after she tackled him to the ground and tried to run away.

"DON'T TRY RUNNING NOW." Petra chased my dad into the forest and the crowd disappeared.

"Do you want to chase after them," Chris asked me.

"No, they'll be back." I tell her, shrugging my shoulders. It's funny how they were both in their 40s and still acted like children.

"I'm gonna go find Don. He's been texting me non stop since we left the house." Chris races off and I decided I'd waste my time exploring the house.

I don't know why they call it a pack house. This is more like a pack mansion. Considering how many wolves live in this house, it's not as crowded as I expected pack houses to be. I haven't even pass anyone in the hallways.

While exploring, I stumbled upon an indoor swimming pool, probably about 40 bedrooms, a built in theater, a children's game room, and finally, the training room.

The training room was empty at the moment. They probably used it earlier while we were at the mall. It was pretty late.

I went into the shooting range part of the training room and it was huge. It was built into a kind of laser tag arena, but with real guns. There was obviously protective shields that you put on so no one died of course, but this was definitely not for kids.

I picked a M1911 pistol and pointed it at one of the targets. The target was blue and human shaped.

Not weird at all.

I took aim and shot. It went through the targets head.

"Nice shot," I heard a voice say from behind and it took me by surprise. I jumped back and turned, pointing the gun at the intruder.

"WOAH, CHILL ANNE!" I put the gun down once I saw that it was Alaric. That's the loudest I ever heard him speak.

Despite his loud tone, he still sounded weak.

I took in his attire. He had on some baggy, black sweatpants and a long sleeve, white shirt that clung to his body. His hair looked freshly washed. I could tell he just took a shower because his hair was still wet, even more curlier than normal, but it still hung over his eyes like a curtain.

"Oops, sorry," I say, letting out a nervous laugh. "So, what did you do today? Father and son bonding," I say sarcastically and he returns the nervous laugh.

"Your not gonna let me forget that, are you?" I shake my head no.

"No, but I'll take it easy on you. I have a lot of questions, but I'll try to keep them to myself." He nodded in appreciation.

"Where'd you learn how to shoot?"

"My dad's a great teacher. He had a whole vault of guns in our basement back in Washington. Now that I think about it, I didn't ask him where he moved all of it." I took shot at the next target. It was a wolf figure and I shot it in its the side.

Alaric started fiddling with one of the guns, but seemed to struggle with how he was supposed to position his body to shoot.

"Here, let me show you." I move him closer to the target. I fixed his footing and his arm position, so that when he shoots the gun, the kick back won't be so powerful.

"Alright, now shoot." He took shot at a red target that I assumed was supposed to be a vampire and it went straight through the heart.

"Look. He even needs a girl to teach him how to shoot," we heard a voice say by the door. I turned to see two boys, werewolves, probably around our age. They were really buff and tall.

"And who the hell are," I ask them.

"Woah, this one has a mouth on her," one of them said and they laughed, giving each other a high five.

"Could you guys chill out," I heard Alaric say, but it was still quite and he had his head down.

"Are you growing a backbone, Ric, because it seems like you talked back to us? Is this witch your little girlfriend?"

Okay, they were really getting on my nervous.

"How about you show some respect to your future alpha," I ask them and they both laughed.

"He's no alpha and he sure isn't mine." I could see Alaric's head hang lower in shame. I raise the gun in my hand and point it at them.

"How bout you leave before I get out of hand?" They didn't even bat an eyelash of fear.

"Do it, Anne. Shoot the assholes," a voice in my head told me.

"No, don't do it. It's not necessary," another voice told me.

"Would you two shut up," I mumble under my voice and Alaric turns to me.

"Anne, you don't have to do this," he told me. I was getting ready to lower the gun, but one of them just had to comment.

"I knew that any friend of Alaric wouldn't have the guts." All I saw now was red.

I know that I was shooting, but I didn't know where. I could here shrieks of pain and the kick back of the gun every time I shot it.

"Good girl," the voice in my head told me. Something started violently shaking my shoulders.

"Anne, stop." I snapping out of it and I was face to face with hazel eyes. I looked at the other side of the training room to see one of the wolves with gunshot wounds in his legs. The other one was trying to help him.

"I'm sorry," I told Alaric, tears pricking my eyes.

"It's ok. Thank you," he told me, a smile on his face.
