———————————————————————

Two days later after my merge with the chaotic spirit of darkness Vaatu, I found myself walking towards the fire nation barracks accompanied by a guy that had recruited me to be part of fire nation army, after a quick demonstration of my poor fire bending, which was sorely lacking a lot of form... I mean, my fire was pitiful right now, but they needed soldiers.

Reason why the guy had decided to recruit me in the first place, and I had accepted with the clear intention of learning fire bending from their teachers, with my new face, things were bound to be easier, I would learn what they had to offer, and then I would leave, and if things went downhill, I was prepared for it.

The walk to the barracks was long and silent. With the recruiter of the nation, not daring to speak a word for some reason. Though I suppose there is nothing left to say, I walked up to him, he recruited me… and here I am.

It takes us a while to get to the Barracks, where I am immediately searched by the soldiers, for any contraband or illegal items, once cleared out at the door, the man led me to one of the buildings where the training soon to be soldiers lived, and grunted.

"That will be your home until you learn proper bending,," The man pointed to a empty campsite to his right, "I will be back with your armor, wait in there,"

Taking a look at my room, I notice it is fairly dull, with only a tent and a bedroll, and a small fire pit. But I suppose for now it shall do, it's not like I have the intention of living here.

[1 HOUR LATER]

After one hour of waiting without hearing from the guy that had recruited me, I tentatively stepped away from my room, scanning the area with curiosity. Taking a deep breath I decided to explore the barracks, to see what was around.

Nothing too impressive, at much, they were a bit more advanced than the water nation with their training equipment, but nothing awe striking.

"Didn't they tell you to wait?!" A man growled a question in anger behind me, a quick look at his uniform, posture and tone of voice told me everything I needed to know about the man, he was the captain of this underwhelming place.

"I apologize, I was curious… to see this place," I replied without skipping a beat, getting a slap across the face as soon as I spoke, which immediately in turn made Vaaty scream inside of me, to kill them all, and boy was I with him on that one… no, control yourself Akira, you need to learn fire bending.

"You will speak only when I tell you to," The captain hissed, grabbing me by the neck.

"I understand," Once again I was slapped, and boy… was I close to strangling the man.

"You will learn respect, you will learn to obey…" The man said, with each word slapping me with the back of his metal glove, over and over and over again, and… you know what? FUCK THIS CAMP! FUCK THIS NATION! AND MOST OF ALL! FUCK THIS GUY!! I AM TIRED OF THIS SHIT! I WILL LEARN FIRE BENDING ALONE!

Before the next slap managed to connect with my face, I grabbed the captain by the wrist and pulled him towards me, delivering a knee to his stomach they doubled him over, with enough strength to break a few bones.

Immediately after attacking the captain, the soldier around circled me, pointing their weapons and fists at me, at that I smiled, remembering what little knowledge I had for fire bending, about the art being fueled by emotions I inhaled, and let all the anger, hate and despair both Vaatu and I had sink in on my very core, gathering the emotions in my fist fuel my fire, before taking a step forward and in a quick straight punch, letting all of those emotions free, creating a large.. No... abnormally massive torrent of fire, that radiated so much heat that melted the wall and path it way, showing how powerful emotion in this world could really be, from rock to molten lava, killing a few soldiers stupid enough to try and redirect the attack.

The result was so astoundly powerful and scary that the soldiers that managed to survive and see everything that had go down, glanced at each other, silently agreeing to let me go… for it was clear death awaited them if so they chose to try and capture me.

I knew I had no skill, nor technique with my fire bending, but apparently what I had was quite useful, raw power… with Vaatu inside me, my fire was fueled by thousands of years of hatred, and agony… meaning, right now there weren't many fire benders in the world able to redirect my flames.

Iroh, Ozai and probably Azula.

"Oh yeah, I forgot…" I sighed, going back to the unconscious captain, "I can let you live… nobody bitch slaps me…. So many times, and lives to tell the tale," I smiled at the man, before breaking his neck, greeting an inward cheer of approval from Vaatu.

Was I being manipulated by Vaatu right now? Absofuckinglutly, but I had to be honest, I had killed for way less… and this guy was just poking a monster… he got what he was looking for.

"Fuck you all," I shouted, as I ran out of the barracks with a new quest at hands, finding a master that is not… associated with the fire nation right now… perhaps the fire hippie that trained Zhao, he seemed to be a very capable man, with the ability to fire bend with his mind.

I could also go to the dragon city… in the anime, Aang and Zuko, learned how to bend after seeing the dragons move, or I could go to Iroh, after all, a new face brought countless benefits, meaning Iroh would probably not recognize me, and if I am correct he is alone right now, at least I thought so, after all, this was around the time Zuko went all hobo on his uncle.

The point was, I didn't need the fire nation to learn, I had many viable options, with some of the best masters in the world.
