Brianna rested her forehead against the door with a nervous laugh. "Isn't it funny? I don't even know who his mate is."
Hmmm. Strange. Why would Brian hide who his mate was? If I could recall, there were so many circumstances where he could have come clean. Why would he keep it to himself?
"Don't beat yourself up," I reasoned. "Not even I realized he was to be mated. The Red Moon had everyone disoriented. Things we would normally see and acknowledge us by."
"Yeah, but I was with him all the time. There is no excuse for my incapabilities." Her sigh floated around the room. "This would have never slipped my mother."
"Besides," I continued, ignoring her comment, "the whole thing wasn't your fault. Brian also had a choice, just like everyone else. He could have chosen to stay and get staked. He could have told you how the Red Moon was affecting him, so you could act. This is his fault."
