Everyone froze in their spots, trying to comprehend what just happened. Josh killed Courtney's parents and staked her. We all knew he was savage but not that savage. Evil Josh was bad. Real bad. The slight wind blew Courtney's parents' ashes in a small tornado, then into the air and away. We all watched it dumbfounded.
Courtney's parents' drudges were the first to break free from the shock. The minute they did, they rushed after Josh.
Kyle snapped out of his trance at the sight of the men disappearing into the forest. "Colin?"
Colin did not need anything else. "I'm on it."
"Me, too," Brian added.
Both males were off before Kyle could utter another word.
"What the hell just happened?" Mr. Watt demanded in a panicked tone.
Alpha Dane swiveled around, surveying the area. "We need to get out of the opening."
