Emerelda watched how Luther glared out from the small window of the carriage while drinking his flask. Mr. Thomas crossed his arms and had his eyes closed, trying hard to ignore his son drinking away. Emerelda said nothing of the situation. The three sat in silence as the carriage jolted along the roads of Garlin.
When Emerelda saw Vivian sitting lazily on the single sofa in Mr. Thomas's drawing room, she wasn't surprised. She remembered hearing his voice of thoughts the last time she was at the manor. She was also not surprised with the fact Mr. Thomas took Vivian under his wing.
