Emmett and Emerelda walked side by side to the café. Emerelda was surprised how welcoming it was during the day. At night it seemed uninvited and closed off. She supposed that was the effect Mr. Thomas and Rose wanted.

She also felt how terrifying it is, how you might be next. Emerelda felt it after her brother got killed. She prepared herself to fight if the Midnight Assassin were to come to her at night in her chamber. She now realizes how useless it would be as her Father only assigned to kill his beloved son.
