Standing outside the giant hole that peeked into the lobby, Ms. Ohashi held her hands on her hips, analyzing the damage done to the wall next to the entrance of the Harbor. Her denim overalls shifted as she pivoted her shoulder and glanced at the boulder that sat next to her. Despite the sun gleaming it's light, a wave of dark grey clouds reined in the distance, very slowly crawling towards the Harbor.
Ohashi straightened her mouth as she pulled out her midnight weapon from her tool belt and aimed the end at the boulder. Suddenly, dust sprouted from the blunder as clean stone bricks broke away, gliding into the opened hole, packing it up with fresh stone bricks.
"Phew! That should be the last of them," Ohashi noted, staring all around the abstract place that she called home.
"Are all the broken walls fixed, Miss Ohashi?" A woman questioned, standing next to the entrance.
"They are now, Carmen," Ohashi informed, standing confidently in front of the wall.
Lovett turned towards the door and said, "I'll let Apollyon know." She stepped into the rebuilding Harbor, people were busy carrying food, materials to fix the Harbor, and other various things. Apollyon was standing at the head of a giant table in the middle of the lobby, looking over a map that covered the entire surface of the table.
"Lovett," Apollyon acknowledged, his eyes barely moved away from the map.
Lovett gave off a devious smirk and questioned Apollyon, "have you gone mad yet?"
Returning the gesture, Apollyon stated, "maybe...just about." He waved her over to look at the map. He pointed at the clearing in between the Midnights Forest and the crater that sat at the middle of the continent. "Here is where we will set up our defense." He moved his hand into the middle of the forest, tapping it against the off-white paper. "We'll start our counter attack here."
"Wait Apollyon," Lovett said, "we only have two thousand people here, only about a thousand capable of fighting." As she said this, a Class B member walked by, Lucifer Cady was his name.
"He-dro, boss," Lucifer greeted, an innocent lisp contorted how he pronounced the letter L.
"Lucy, could you bring the electricians some of the welding tools right there in that box?" Apollyon asked, pointing towards the box sitting next to the metal wall behind Lucifer.
Lucien threw up an inquisitive salute and said, "yes sir!"
As Lucifer walked away, Lovett leaned in towards Apollyon and solemnly stated, "this plan isn't going to work, we don't have enough fighters, our food supply is damaged, and we don't even know the status of the Marina!" Apollyon looked up and his baggy eyes began becoming more apparent. "Listen, let's stay here and finish rebuilding, send a couple teams out to New London to fix our food supply, and when we recover—we'll figure a counter attack; stronger than ever." Apollyon didn't respond, only gulping silently. "If we stretch ourselves to thin, we'll easily be overtaken. We're the last defense against the demons, Apollyon! We can't just take these kinds of risks."
"Fine," Apollyon said, sniffling his nose. "We'll send some people to New London tomorrow."
"How about Team 15? I vouch for Mr. Green and Ms. Flores," Lovett , looking over to the round table next to the colorful wall occupied with young members.
Apollyon agreed, "yes, Team 15 seems to be filled with skilled—'whippersnappers' as my father would call them."
"I'll let them know," Lovett stated, a confident smile spread across her face.
Sitting at the table, Rosie pointed at the word search that Jawed was filling out. Wayne sat on the table, looking at a roll of stitching suture and a stitching needle that rested gently on his rough and scarred hands.
"There!" Rosie exclaimed, pointing to the row that formed 'Orchid' diagonally in the maze of words.
"Stop! If you want one, get one yourself! The store is over there!" Jawed yelled, pulling the word search away from Rosie's view.
"But you already have one right there—in your hands!" Rosie yelped, reaching for the small book in Jawed's hands.
"Wayne," Lovett called out, walking towards the table. Wayne snapped out of his trance and hopped off the table, standing eye level to Lovett.
"Yeah?" His eyes were baggier than Apollyon, like something has been poking at his mind ever since the raid.
"Hey are you okay?" Lovett asked, "you look exhausted."
Wayne scratched the back of his head and looked away slightly as he said, "I—haven't been sleeping the best."
"Well get a good nights rest, you and your team are heading to New London, your first official assignment with your new team."
Wayne turned with a hint of anxiety and asked, "what's our mission?"
Lovett, staring at the heavy and grey bags below Wayne's eyes, said, "I'll tell you tomorrow, nothing too complicated—just focus on being ready, okay?"
"Okay..."
