"Crystal , leave me alone , I don't want to go anywhere" I mumbled trying to remove my hand from Crystal's grasp.
"No" she said pulling me down the staircase" we have to go, you finally got asked to the dance to which you said yes for that I am quite surprised, and there is nothing in your closet that suits the theme of the dance. Of course we have to go. "she said
"Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaadddddddddddddddd" I whined "say something"
"Thanks Crystal, here's my credit card "he said throwing his credit card to us ,Crystal let my hand go and leaped forward to catch it , I took that as a chance and ran upstairs, but sadly I wasn't fast enough ,did I forget to mention the fact that Crystal used to be a sprinter for the school's track and field team until she left some few months ago? I don't think I did, so that was a bad choice because immediately I did she turned and grabbed the hood of my hoodie and pulled me back and I stumbled grabbing hold of her hand to prevent myself from falling.
"Yo Crystal, do make sure she goes to that dance looking like my daughter " dad said taking a sip of his coffee, again why does he keep drinking coffee so much ,does he even sleep at night? Or maybe he doesn't, I thought "What is that supposed to mean?" I asked "Haven't I been looking like your daughter for the past 18 years of my life? "I crossed my arms over my chest, glaring at him, he took a step back, arms up in surrender "To tell you the truth you don't exactly dress up like the daughter of the owner of the biggest law firm in the country " my dad said
It's true, if you took one glance at me you wouldn't think that was who I was, unlike Mike and Jason who always flaunted it, when people hear who you are, they just come around wanting something from you, then you end up being surrounded by fake people and I for one am not a fan of fake people ,putting that aside I never wore the normal dresses rich kids usually wore , I was mostly seen in a hoodie and leggings, the colors may differ but always the same thing every single day there was this one time my dad, Mike and Jason got so annoyed that they actually ganged up and threw them away I came back that day to meet an empty closet . I always wore it so no one could see my mark, on that day I called Crystal and told her that we were going shopping and imagine her happiness I'm not a fan for shopping so I could understand her when she screamed into the phone like a maniac.
"Don't worry Frank I will be sure to even make her look like the daughter of a president" Crystal answered winking at my dad, I grunted in frustration and followed her outside ,I let her drag me into the car, as she started the car I brought out my phone and texted Luke to meet us at the mall.

At the mall Crystal kept dragging me from store to store and I followed quietly ,
"Hey guys "Luke said linking hands with me, Crystal glanced at our linked arms with a grim look
and I pulled my hand out quickly, Luke stared at me but said nothing, I don't know why but that look Crystal gave me kinda like gave me the shivers, before replacing it with a happy smile and dragging us into another store "So how is everything ? "
" Are you supposed to be asking me that question " I asked " Considering the fact that we just saw each other in school some few hours ago " I answered(as in friday) while we tried to keep up with Crystal , she kept bringing out one dress after the other, until she saw one and shouted
"PERFECT!!!!" people turned to look at us and I looked down to avoid some glares," I know how you hate short sleeves so I was looking for the perfect one " she whispered and handed it over to me
"Go get changed" she urged and so I did.

I was done and walked out,
"WOW" Luke said with eyes wide opened I laughed at his expression, he looked like a fish that was out of the water gasping for air "Shut your mouth" I ordered still laughing
Crystal stood up and held my arm" You look gorgeous "she said winking at me I turned to look at myself in the mirror, it was a long cream colored dress that hugged my curves which I didn't even know I had, and when it got to my knee it flowed down to the floor. It was long sleeved too and covered my hands so it was a win-win for me, it was simple but beautiful.
"Luke if you don't want a housefly living in your mouth you would shut it "Crystal muttered with distaste. Luke sauntered over to me grabbing my hand
"Would you go to the dance with me?" for a moment there I thought he was serious, that is, until he burst out laughing. I hit him upside his head and was about to respond when Crystal stepped up and answered "no she wouldn't because she already has a date for the dance",
What was wrong with her today?, I thought, she already had a date for the dance, Crystal was dating Scott Henderson the QB of the school's football team who had asked her to go with him a long time before the dance had even been announced, she seemed excited about it and kept talking about it nonstop, I wondered what was going on with her. And turned to look at my idiot of a best friend and glared at him which shut him right up. But I could still see a smile lurking around his lips.
"By who?" Luke asked with a serious face,
"By Adam "Crystal said
"The new guy?" Luke asked as I fumbled my bag for a packet of chewing gum,
"Yep" I said popping a piece of gum in my mouth chewing it thoughtfully, Why had he asked me to the dance? Why me out of all the many girls who would like to go to the dance with him? Why had I said yes? I asked myself over and over again as I got down from the car and ran into the house, up the stairs and into the shower there was something pushing me and forcing me to say yes , when he spoke to me I felt something I had never felt before ,tonight was going to be really weird .

It was time for the dance and Crystal was coming to pick me up, I had dressed up and skidded down the stairs feeling happy "hey dad, how do I look? "I asked turning around so he could get a better view of the dress
"Beautiful just beautiful, you look just like your mother "he whispered, with a voice of longing, he missed her. A lot
I felt uncomfortable considering the fact that he compared me to the woman who broke his heart , and left him to take care of three kids, I wanted to hate her for leaving us but my dad kept telling me not to that she did it for our sake, but I never believed him if she actually thought about us she would have stayed by our side instead of putting us through all the pain we went through.
I walked over to my dad and wrapped my arms around him, I let him go when I heard someone fumbling with the door,
"Hey what's going on "my big brother Mike asked as he walked in.
"MICHAEL!!!!"I shouted and ran to hug him
"Hey little sis, how've you been" he asked dropping his bags
I opened my mouth to speak when Jason jumped on Mike's back and started to make him spin around and shouted in his ear "You're back"
"Okay get off me am starting to feel dizzy" Mike said laughing
"Where are you going?" he asked making his way to the kitchen,
"To the school's winter dance" I answered "YOU got asked to the dance by who ?" he asked dad and Jason started laughing "by a new guy in school " I answered glaring at them which shut them right up, as my phone began to ring it was Crystal ,
"Hey girl I'm outside" she said when I picked up
"I'm coming" I answered rushing up the stair case to pick up my purse,
HOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNKKKKKKKKKK, I heard the honk of Crystal's car as I made my way out of the house that girl was impatient, I muttered to myself as I slid in closing the door
"Heard from Luke?" I asked
"Yeah he is going with his girlfriend, Jennifer "she answered feeling down and said again
"Hey Stevie, there's something I want to tell you"
"Okay, go on" I urged
"I think am in love with Luke " she whispered
"WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!"I said, I was dumbfounded
"which Luke? my Luke? our Luke? Stevens? As in Luke Stevens? Since When ? How? WOW, what about Scott? Didn't you like him?" I rambled on, till we got to school I still didn't get it how could she fall in love with that dork? So what was Scott to her? Will she tell him this night? I asked her
"I already broke up with Scott this afternoon after we came back from shopping"
"So what you are saying now is that you came to this dance dateless or am I missing something here"
"We gotta talk after all this is over" I said as we made our way into the gym which had been setup as the location for the dance, the boys really outdid themselves this time I thought.
I was about to say something else but shut my mouth when I saw Luke heading over to us with his girlfriend jennifer, in tow, smiling as he walked to us, he looked good in his tuxedo and Jenny as I fondly called her was wearing a short sleeved, knee length dress which hugged her body she was of Asian descent, not forgetting the fact that we both share the same interest in K-dramas, Iwas fond of her but not so much now, after what Crystal had told me, we had all been best friends for the past eight years but now things were taking a weird turn.
They had started making out right in front of us, I lifted my hand to hit is head when I heard the sound of someone clearing the throat, they broke off and turned to whoever it was that stopped their PDA,
