The drive to Alec's home wasn't far from the airport, my heart swelled with the idea of freedom. It had been just two and a half years since I'd seen him or Sophia. As we pulled into their driveway, I had to peel my eyes from the beautiful home in front of me to give Alec a 'good job' look.
The home was placed on the coast. The front view of the ocean was breathtaking. It was a Spanish style home and for it being beachfront they had a spacious yard.
Sophia decorated beautifully, palm trees dotted the yard after the swimming pool and ocean decor speckled the long porch. I was so proud of my Alec, so proud that he had made something so beautiful from his life.
"Want me to get that?" Alec asked as he held my passenger door open, I hadn't realized we had parked and that he had gotten out. "Umm, no I'm I got it." I continued gawking at the house as we walked inside until I felt someone wrapping their small arms around me.
"Oh, Es. We're so happy you're here!" Sophia squealed into my hair and I backed away to get a good look at her, even more, beautiful than the pictures I had seen. I took in a deep breath and a million delicious scents whirled through my nose.
Making my stomach growl. "Sophia! It's so good to finally meet you." I gave her a large smile. "And It smells delicious," I added looking past her towards the kitchen. That's when I noticed the view. Holy...
"Come." She ushered me into the kitchen and the kitchen, the spacious counters were all covered in treats. From appetizers to desserts. "Wow," I said as she handed me a plate, Alec followed after me grabbing another plate from his beautiful young wife before kissing her on the cheek. It was such an intimate moment, full of love... love that I've never known.
We filled our plates and I ate the treats by the tall glass windows that adorned the entire back wall. The ocean view took my breath away. This. This is what I want for the rest of my life.
"So, how was your trip?" Sophia asked.
"Good." I lied but after realizing I needed to tell them what was going on I spilt the truth. From everything, Hunter did to the man who was following me. To the sweet girls who got me here safely. By the time I was finished, they both looked calm, collected.
"Why aren't you freaked out?" I asked both of them
"Well..." Sophia started. Alec finished "I am actually a cop." He pulled out his badge and my draw dropped. He told me about how he wanted to help people and this was the best way, the whole time Sophia admired him with pure admiration in his eyes.
"How are you a cop in six months?" I asked in astonishment.
"well, I had started attending classes online before I moved here with Sophia. I attended the police academy here." Wow, good for him and to think I didn't have a clue.
"So, you see. You're safe... we're safe. Everything's good." He leaned back in his chair with a cocky grin and I couldn't help but laugh with Sophia as she giggled at him.
"Thank you." I mouthed as the sun began to set, hours had passed while we caught up on the patio.
I exited to the guest room, Sophia ushered me into the beautiful room and handed me some pyjamas. She assured me that we would go shopping in the morning and I was thankful, I had barely anything but the clothes on my back.
"Goodnight, Es." She said before closing the door. I quickly drifted to sleep after my bath, I was safe. Comfortable. It was like I was living a different life. Until the dreams came.
"why would you do this to me Renesmee? what did I ever do to you," Said my dad, walking towards me. "Get away from me" I screamed at him. I didn't want him around me.
"I can never leave you until you tell everyone what you did to me and go back home to Hunter."
"No, get away from me. I'm not going anywhere"
"What is wrong with you? Can't you see that you are killing those that love you and you don't even know it?"
He jumps on me and holds me by the neck as if to choke me. "You deserve to die too"
I struggle but to no avail. Black dots begin to appear, blurring my vision.
"You don't deserve to live" those were the last words I heard before I black out completely.
I woke to scream.
