I locked my challenger, admiring it's classic beauty before I stepped into the sharp-edged building of Stone enterprises. I've never worked for Stone before but he seemed more adamant about needing my services on the phone than usual. I laughed when he raised his voice at me telling me to hurry, no one... and I mean no one rushes me or disrespects me and lives to tell about it.
So, I sipped my coffee and smoked a few cigarettes in the lot before exiting and walking in, sue me. But the offer was too big to refuse, I would have turned him down because of his arrogance if he hadn't said the numbers that made my ears sing... Five mills.
Normally, when I hunt down someone my payment is about a million ahead, two if they didn't want them back alive... but this payout... sheesh. It's a lot and I'm going to find this guy as quickly as possible; I need a new penthouse, and this will pay for it easy.
I stepped into the elevator, bypassing the lobby as I pushed the number for the top floor. As I ascended, I fixed the cuffs on my suit and stood up a little straighter to get ready to talk business, before coming here I had just gotten back from a particularly brutal job, I hoped no one saw the blood on my white cuffs, but if they did, oh well. "Mr Collins." The blonde receptionist's heels clicked across the marble flooring as soon as I stepped out of the elevator. She handed me a bottle of Fiji water, I shrugged her off and continued to make my way down to the mahogany doors at the end of the hall. I had one thing on my mind, and it was the money. No one would get in my way. Especially not a generic-looking blonde with overpriced water.
Pulling open the doors, without knocking, I made my way to find a frazzled looking Hunter Stone sitting at his desk, fidgeting as he pushed his hand's through his hair. "Mr Stone," I said as I nodded to him, he gestured for me to sit down.
The glass chair was comfortable enough, and the furniture of the room was interesting, Hunter had a taste. "What can I do for you?" I asked as I leaned forward, resting my elbows on my knees and intertwining my fingers. He sighed as he stood up and began to pace in front of his well-polished desk. My office was sleek and modern, he really looks like something from the future. I stifled a scoff.
"I need you to find someone for me." He said through his teeth as he continued to pace. Of fucking course, you do, that's my job... I wanted to say to him but instead, I gave him a solitary nod. "My princess left, she just fucking left." He threw his hands in the air. My princess? This made me curious. "A woman?" I asked. "My girlfriend." He spat as he placed his hands on his hips and turned to me. Well, that's different.
I shrugged. "It's not my normal thing, finding a woman, I assume that's why you're paying me so much?" He nodded. Honestly, it will be way easier to find a girl than the hardened men that leave no trail that I normally find so I'm not sure why he would do that, I'm guessing he wants her back quickly.
He sat down at his chair and pulled out a manila folder and clutched it in his hands. "Why did she leave?" I asked wondering if this was a normal occurrence. "I really don't know. One morning I wake up and she's gone. My men have searched for months now but to no avail and then I heard about you. " he says and I nodded again knowing it isn't my business but I need these details to find her easier. "Does this sort of thing happen often, will she come back?" I asked and he shook his head.
"No, like I said we were good, I woke one morning and her clothes and everything were gone. She didn't even a note, anything you would need to know is that folder." His eyes were wild as his shaking hands passed me the folder. "Did she steal anything? Jewellery, money, cleared bank accounts?" I asked and he shook his head, no.
I opened the folder and saw multiple papers. The first being her dossier, Renesmee Carlie Cullen. 21. 5'4''. 140 lbs.
I flipped over to a photo, Fuck. An involuntary sharp intake of breath made me straighten myself up as I stared at her beauty. Dirty blonde hair and Hazel-gray eyes adorned a heart-shaped face. The photo was taken in summer, I can tell because she was wearing a yellow sundress and standing presumably in a garden. She was smiling but it seemed real and fake all at once, it seemed as though she had something on her mind. I knew I had been staring at the photo too long when Hunter cleared his throat. "Is this a recent photo?" I asked, stalling time for the question I would ask next. He nodded. "I'll find her soon," I assured him and stuffed the rest of the papers back into the envelope, I'll read them later.
I stood and shook his hand before turning my back and walking to the door. I grabbed the knob and looked at Hunter one last time. "dead or alive." I asked him, noting how his nostrils flared at my question but he knows how this goes.
"Of course I want her alive, she's mine. Bring her back to me alive. I'll deal with the rest myself." He looked as though he was about to cry but looked out the window and I walked out, letting out a deep breath I didn't know I was holding. I need to get my shit together and stop thinking about this girl, she isn't mine and five million is on the line...
So I left and went to look for her.
