Chapter 21 - The Real Monster

A year after the occurrence is now known as the "Great Transmigration," the modern earth had changed forever. The merging of two worlds had changed not only the continents of each planet, but cohabitation was proving possible. Enam and Earth were still at war, but the three kings of Earth predominantly controlled the world.

As discussed in what was now known as "the conference of kings," the United States now controlled the northernmost section of the new super-continent. In exchange for some territory, the Russian confederacy had sent nearly 1 trillion US dollars' worth of equipment to the US. The US had, after all, lost the most out of the three superpowers. The death totals from the first year of fighting for the US had been 22,000 military personnel, and a staggering 45 million civilians had been killed. A year later, what had previously been known as the US was now named "Northern Babylon." The consensus was that Babylon would be used as it was a symbolic city used in the biblical book of revelation. Some called the move a mockery of the Christian bible, while others called the move a direct slap to the face of the Christian God. The mortals of the earth now knew that God's were accurate, so any sacrilegious acts were scrutinized keenly.

As progress was made, North Babylon began to claim its territory and build its military. The old American military complex began to shine once more, and by the end of the first year, the Military had fully recovered. Their invasion into the countries of Enam, mixed with their military tactics' knowledge, led to a massacre. How could only Enam, armed with magic, match a country with magic and military might? Now that North Babylon recalled all their troops to fight on its turf, Enam had no chance against the Superpower.

As more and more territory was gained, the kingdoms of Enam began to panic. They indeed were no match against a world that had the technology and player advantage. Using communication crystals, Enam countries surrendered one by one. North Babylon had finally completed its goals of controlling its borders. Peace eventually returned to the walls.

As his soldiers continued to reap the benefits of having taken over entire kingdoms in less than a year, the former president of the US, who was now king of New Babylon, was looking down at the world from a height of 45,000 feet. His cruel eyes reflected in the terrified looks of the village he was hovering over. "Riffraff like this has no place in this world." He says as he looks down. The reign of tyranny was about to begin, and this village would be the first batch of victims. Daniel had always been upright in his actions, but he always had violent tendencies deep down. He had been one of the main benefactors of the game "The Rise of Enam" when the government had found a way to use the machines given to them by the god Apollyr to absorb the mana of Enam.

"They say that a single tier 5 mage is powerful enough to set off an attack at the level of a nuclear bomb. Rejoice! Today you will be my test subjects." David says as he looks down at the villagers. "I wonder if I can destroy the hills too?" He muses as he flies nearly 10,000 feet closer to the surface. "Goodbye." He says with a laugh.

In "The Rise of Enam," one did not have to say an enchantment or shout out the name of the skill. The players just had to manipulate the mana in the air to get spells or abilities to work. For powerful spells, players could say the enchantments, and adding specific keywords made those spells increase in destructive power or output.

"Father of destruction, heed my word," David says as a ball of mana collects in front of him. "Listen to the cries of the air as they beg to be released. Hear their voices as they collect their intent. Hakai, Lit, maus." As soon as David says the keywords, his spell releases. Soon after that, what seems like a small snowflake falls to the ground. As it falls slowly, the ground begins to tremble. The Residents of the village all watch their impending doom. Children hugged their parents, lovers caressed each other, and the warriors tried to shoot the snowflake down. Their efforts were in vain. How could they succeed when David had a mana point stat over 5,000? David smirks as he looks down. "This is punishment for your sin of not having the tax of one beautiful girl in this village. I gave each village ample time to prepare my delicious meal, but you have yet to prepare my meal the right way. I get that you peasants are all swine, but how could you not have at least one beautiful virgin?" He says as the snowflake touches the ground. All is silent…

Then…

"BOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!"

An explosion rocks the area. David watches with interest as a fireball 10,000 feet explodes upwards, in the next 2 seconds, the shockwave hits him. He lets it push him backward by a mile as he watches the destruction. "Yes! 2 for 1," He says with a laugh as he looks at the two villages he had destroyed. With the fireball now winding down, he begins to vacate the area. There was nothing left except for a crater 1 mile wide and 2,000 feet deep. From a distance, he observes the damage and smiles. He could certainly use that attack on a few other areas. Then, he would satisfy his urge to kill. He heads to his room as he lands back in his brand new castle where the white house used to be. Inside his bedroom, a woman was tied up spread eagle. All of her body was in the nude, and she had a ball-gag on her mouth. "Honey, I'm home," David says as he laughs at her.
