Chapter 1 - Chapter One

My body moved on it's own, knowing what to do even as my mind reeled past the bed. My loud breaths rasped out to mingle with the pretty blonde's that I had just met a few hours earlier. I tensed, then released with an animalistic groan.

It wasn't my finest hour; my head wasn't all the way in the game. Honestly, I couldn't even remember her name.

"Sorry, babe," I panted, rolling out from under her naked body, "I have to go."

"What?" Shock fluttered across her face as I scrambled to pull on my discarded clothes.

We were both adults here. She knew exactly what was going to happen when she followed me to my hotel room. Hell, she was asking for it when she sat next to me at the hotel bar. We both knew. And it was fun.

But now, I had an important meeting to get to.

"The room is paid for." I glanced around at the spacious room that I often visited. "So you can just…" I shrugged awkwardly, "sleep here and leave in the morning."

"You're leaving?" She sat up quickly, causing the sheet to fall away and reveal her ample chest.

"Yep." I fastened my belt on the way to the door. My phone was already ringing. "Thanks though. I…I had fun."

"You are such an asshole," she seethed.

It wasn't the worst thing that I had been called. I pulled the door shut behind me and half ran down the empty hallway to the elevator.

My phone buzzed in my pocket.

"Hey Petey," I sang into the cool plastic without looking at the name that flashed across the screen.

"You're late," he accused. In my mind's eyes, I could see the way his lips would be pursing out in his anger.

"I was on time," I sheepishly explained. "Then you guys decided to be late."

"Rescheduled the time," he firmly corrected. "Did you have better things to do?"

"Actually…"

"You know how important this is."

"I'm practically there." I shoved my finger on the button marked L.

"Are you properly dressed?"

He knew me too well. "I'm hanging up, I'll be there in a second."

I was lucky enough in my freshman year of college to get Pete Hathaway as my roommate. I was a scrawny little shit who's balls hadn't even fully dropped yet and Pete was a campus god.

Everyone wanted him; women, men, teachers – everyone. But Pete was oblivious to it all, he was a genuine good guy. The ones you don't come across very often.

Even though I wasn't much for the visuals, I had been born rich. It was my birth right to be wanted by hot chicks. In those days, I was too scared to touch any of them.

Pete took me under his wing. Without him, I might not have made it through that year. So when grandpa gave me a hotel on my twenty-fifth birthday, it was only natural that Pete would be my business partner.

He was my only real friend. And the guy was ridiculously smart.

My phone lit up. 1 new text message.

Petey: Where the fuck are you?

Petey: You can't leave me here alone with Mr. Balls.

Me: Just getting my dick sucked in the elevator. Almost done.

Petey: Asshole.

"Second time tonight that I've been called that," I chuckled out loud.

By the time the elevator doors swung open, I was fully dressed and ready for business. Even in my suit that showed very little skin, I knew I looked good. Time had been kind to me. I took the summer after freshman year to develop a workout routine – a routine I still kept even now.

Discipline and hard work. That was my grandpa's answer to everything. No matter what I wanted, I could get it through discipline and hard work. That included the abs.

I kept my honey colored hair short so it didn't hide any of the sharp lines on my face. These days, I had both the money and the looks. The ladies didn't stand a chance.

I saw the two men huddled together at the corner table as soon as I walked into the crowded hotel lounge. Pete was still as handsome as he was on the first day I met him in the dorms. tonight, he had his hair tied back away from his face; I knew that was for the man sitting next to him.

Mr. Wertz was practically drooling.

My eyebrows dipped slightly. Did he really have to be so obvious? Maybe I needed to take a towel over there with me.

"Gentlemen," I greeted, sliding into the chair opposite Pete. "Did you order drinks?"

"Not yet." Pete shifted his body as if he wanted to get up but Mr. Wertz clasped his hand tightly onto his forearm.

"I'll take a jack and coke," the bald fucker simpered.

"Straight shooter," I called out, hurrying to stand up. "I like that."

"Where are you going?" Pete practically growled.

"I think it'll be faster if I go get the drinks myself." I dropped a ludicrous wink. "The usual, Petey?" I didn't wait for his reply.

Mr. Wertz bothered me. I couldn't place why exactly, but he did. He was married to a woman who bore an uncanny resemblance to a full-grown pig, he cheated on her regularly, and he liked dick on the side.

But none of that was anything new. Having grown up in the hotel business, I had seen plenty of shady people. A lot of times, they were the back bone of our business.

There was just something about this guy that I didn't like.

"The usual, boss?" Maddie trilled from behind the bar.

I nodded. "Plus a jack and coke."

Back at the table, Pete was flirting like a champion. He knew how important the deal with Wertz was. If we impressed him, he would pay us a lot of money to promote his golf balls at our hotel's golf course. The hotel needed that money.

Grinding my teeth together, I pulled out my phone and typed out a text to Pete.

Me: I think your boyfriend has a hard on.

Petey: Jealous?

"Here you go Boss."

Without replying to Pete, I put my phone away and took our drinks back to the table. Mr. Wertz didn't spare me a single glance, even after I sat his glass in front of him.

"So," I grinned at Pete over the rim of my glass, "what did I miss?"

"Don't worry about it," Mr. Wertz purred, "me and Pete have it all under control."

I'm sure you do.

I threw back more of the sweet liquid. As it coursed through my body, I let my eyes gaze around the room. I trusted Pete; he knew as much about the hotel as I did. Maybe more.

And he was a hell of lot better equipped to deal with Wertz and his wandering hands. At least Petey played on the same team as him. Pete was just more open about his preference for dick.

Me, on the other hand...
