After class, Nathan asked his girlfriend what her plans later were. He smiled, they were finally official. It had felt like forever but it had only really been two months. It almost felt like another time when he had seen the cute girl in a white dress and decided to talk to her.
He could listen to her all day as long as she laughed and teased. He told her she was beautiful every chance he got. She frowned at him when he did that as she woke up.
He planned to tell her until she believed him. He walked her over to her friends admiring how carefree and happy she seemed. Her hair bounced with each step and a glow surrounded her. If she could be this happy most of her days, his days would be filled with peace.
A movement caught the corner of his eye. Without thinking about it, he crossed the distance between himself and Za, picked her up, shielding her body. Seconds later a rubber bullet hit the spot she had been.
