"Aaron.." I began.
As soon as I sat back down from getting our coffee, he became quiet.
"Hmm?" as he sips his coffee but avoiding eye contact with me.
"It isn't like that..You know that, Aaron" reaching out for his hand on the table. He has been sensitive recently and I don't know why. I would always be the one getting mad immediately, but now..It seems like the tables have turned. He exhaled deeply and tightened his grip. "I'm sorry.." with his chin down.
I smiled and response and said,
"It's not your fault. I'm sorry for making you think that way..." and he finally smiled again.
"..Now, let's drink our coffee and eat our cake, shall we? I'm famished" laughing.
A thought came to me as we ate together.. I've never seen him take his medicines or anything. We stay out all day and go home late at night..I don't know his present status. Yet, he looks so fine. And— that's the scariest part.
"Hey, Lou" he called.
We're now walking our way home. I'm stuffed, I ate a lot—I mean lots of cake. It was just so delicious and one slice wasn't just enough to satisfy me.
"What is it?"
"..Why don't we go to the zoo?"
"Oh..sure. After we watch the meteor shower"
He ruffled my hair, "You really love the stars, yeah?" chuckling.
I blushed, "I don't..really.."
"No need to be shy" he laughed. I really don't. Between the stars and moon, I'd choose the moon. Aaron, is like a moon.
"Oh, we're here already. That was fast" he smiled. "Then, see you, Lou" he waves, slowly turning his back as he walks further away from me. I waved back and went inside when I no longer saw him.
"..Mom.." I started as soon as I saw her face. However, she didn't even look nor spent a second to look at me.
"Ah, we'll..we'll be having a recital..two weeks from now.." making my way upstairs to my room, "I..just wanted to tell you that.." as I paced my walk upstairs.
I eventually got used to how my mom treats me. I don't get hurt, well, I do but not like I'd cry my ass out like before. It's like...I've gone numb to her. So instead of mopping around, I began thinking what to wear when we watch the meteor shower. Of course, I won't go wear to much like wearing a formal dress with heals. I mean who are we kidding, It's a meteor shower! I can just wear pants and a crop top right? So yeah, let's do that.
I hanged the pants and top I'm going to wear. Mom jeans with a button down top. Like my everyday outfit. After taking a shower, I immediately got on my bed so that I can sleep. But...It's already one in the morning and I still can't sleep! I wished for the sun to rise up immediately but not until I fall asleep. I've tried closing my eyes because I can eventually sleep if I do, but it's not working. I'm too excited for the day to come that I can't even sleep even just a little. And I'm not even sleepy, I'm full with energy and excitement.
So I closed my eyes once more and count a thousand of sheep to make me fall asleep, and it didn't even reach a hundred.
Slowly and reluctantly, I uncover my face. I blink, close my eyes, and blink again. Streaks of sunlight penetrate the window and blind me. I sit up, drag my feet off the bed, and rub my knuckles onto my eyes. I stretch my arms above my head and yawn. I watch my legs dangle above the off-white polyester carpet.
I look to see the time and luckily, it's not that late. I take a bath, put some clothes on and went downstairs to eat. I saw my mom watching her favorite musical show as she sips from her tea. She's serious as ever. I went to the kitchen to make myself some toasted breads, eggs and my everyday fruit—apple.
"I'm going out.." I said to which my mom didn't react so I left the house immediately. There's still time before he picks me up so I went to a cafe to pass the time.
I've become fascinated by the cafe, Lucidity of Love. It has a relaxing atmosphere and you can smell the rich aroma of coffee. And I love coffee.
I stayed there until lunch as I watch people coming in and out of the cafe. I didn't even realized how much time I was in there. I've drank three different coffee now— Americano, Latte and Cappuccino. I also ate tons of cake and I can't even stand now.
I come here from time to time to see if Aaron's here. Usually, he has work now. But I'm not seeing him anywhere. Weird. I got up for he's not even here. I check the time—4:58 pm. I went home and got ready as I wait for the time to struck at 6 so Aaron can pick me up.
At around 6:10, I heard the door bell rang and I hurriedly went downstairs to see my Mom and Aaron talking at the front door.
I slowly make my way when they noticed my presence. I coughed and smiled genuinely at Aaron.
"Let's go?" I asked.
he nodded.
My mom cleared her throat and mumbled, "Be safe" and to my shock, my brain stutters for a moment and my eyes take in more light than I expected, every part of me goes on pause while my thoughts catch up. After a wash of cold I step out from the door, feeling a new warmth to the day. Aaron place one hand on my shoulder, with his thumbs up and smiling face.
I nodded as my mom turns her back, on her way to her room.
I turned to Aaron with my mouth dropped and brows raised, mouthing, "What was that!?" he just shrugs.
"C'mon" making our way to his car.
"Okay..You better tell me what you guys talked about or I'm gonna freaking die.." my heart beating faster, unable to believe of what just happened.
He laughed, "Oh, you can't die..And we didn't talked about anything. It was all on her own" as he starts the engine and starts moving.
"Come on. She can't..just do that"
"But she can" he objected.
"Anything can be done with a little courage, Lou" he added.
I smiled at him. I didn't realized this before but now...Staring at him as he drive..Is so cool its making him more handsome. I'm getting excited to see the meteor shower with him.
