Chapter 12 - THE START 2

The next day Evelyn started doing her artwork again and study, then later afternoon, she went to her brother's room to ask something.

"Brother, are you free today?"

"Sorry, sis. I'm busy. I'll date you at the weekend, okay?"

"No, I understand. Enjoy your day, brother,"

In the evening she both parents bring her out for a dinner date,

"Good evening, what can I do with you all?" A tall woman asks,

"Oh, we would like to order this and this,"

"What is it child, are you uncomfortable in this place? We can go somewhere else,"

"No is fine, dad,"

"Okay, tell me anything you want and need. Dad, will get it for you, okay?"

"Yes, dad, I will,"

"Oh, don't be such a burden, okay?"

"Sorry, mom, I won't,"

"Merry, stop that you promise to have dinner with your daughter," She eye-rolled,

"Don't mind your mother, sweetheart. She is just stress, okay?" Luke smiled at his daughter, Evelyn nod.

"Here are your orders... enjoy…"

"Thank you," Luke responded.

"By the way, I won't be staying here for long. My service is outside waiting for me for work,"

"What? You said you were free today,"

"I didn't say I can predict the circumstances, do I?"

"But you promise us your daughter,"

"Why you're making such a fuss about this? Even John is not here, don't be so overdramatic, honey, please,"

"How could I not? We are always busy and don't have time to spend with our daughter. At least now, can you give it to her?"

Evelyn feels heavy pressure around her as she eats her food in silence, listening to her parents fighting in front of her like she is invincible or something.

"Why should I?"

"You, you're selfish!"

"Oh, am I? You too!"

"Oh, are we pushing the blame to each other now, ha?"

"You started it!"

"No, you started it!"

"Dad…*cough* *cough*," Evelyn can't breathe,

"Ha! You! I hate that child, for God's sake! Why do you keep on pushing her to me!"

"Because you bear her! She is our daughter!"

"Mom, dad! *cough* *cough*," No one seems can hear her as she then loses consciousness.

"Mam! Sir! The child got an allergic reaction,"

The tall woman who receives their order went over to Evelyn fast, worried upon seeing Evelyn have red spots all over her body and pale while sweating all over.

*gasp*

"WHAT?" Merry looks at her daughter, surprised.

"Hurry, call an ambulance, sir!" The tall woman suggested,

"No, we take her to the hospital instead. We can't wait," Luke respond as he carried his unconscious daughter fast.

"Come on, honey, let's go,"

"You go alone. I wait for my assistance here,"

"WHAT? How could you…" Luke feels angry and dejected by his wife, but he didn't want to argue because his priority is for his daughter.

"Eve... hang in there, daddy will save you, okay?" Luke drives fast away while dialing someone on his phone. Evelyn is beside him.

"Hello?"

"Hello, John?"

"Father? Why do you call?"

"John met me at the hospital. Something happened to eve,"

"WHAT? What happened to my sister?"

"I'll tell you the details later when I meet you there, okay?"

"Okay, dad texts me the address of the hospital, okay?"

"Okay,"

"Your daughter had eaten something her body cannot take, perhaps. You can tell me what she ate an hour ago before the allergic reaction took in?"

"She eats peanut pasta,"

"Oh, so that it then she is allergic to a peanut,"

"Peanut?"

"Yes, some people allergic to it is good that you rush her here to the hospital,"

"Is she going to be okay, doc?"

"Yes, she needs to rest more. You don't need to worry. She is fine now we already make her take a medicine that can help her,"

"Okay, thank you, doc,"

"Oh, don't mention it. I only do what I must do as a doctor. We leave you two for a while, okay?" Luke nod the doctor and nurses, then leave the two of them alone. He went over to her daughter, who sleeps in peace on her hospital bed, then a rush knocks on the door disturbed his moment.

"Come in," Luke's reply,

"Dad!" John gets inside anxious,

"John, you're here," Luke hugs his son.

"How is she?"

"She is fine now,"

"What happened?"

"The doctor said she had an allergic reaction from the food she eats,"

"What food,"

"She eats peanut pasta an hour ago,"

"Then?"

"The peanut, she is allergic to peanut,"

"Oh, thank god she is all right now,"

"Yes,"

"By the way, where is mom?" Luke didn't reply. Anger shows on his face as he holds his daughter's right hands and caresses it.

"She didn't,"

"Yes, she did. Your mother choose her work over her daughter,"

"What a crazy woman,"

To be continued.
