The couple were silent the whole night. Amora hadn't closed her eyes, and from the darkness he could see a red and purple tint from her eyes.
He could only assume the worst. He assumed what she was doing, and he was correct. Yet he couldn't bring himself to stop her. He just didn't want her to do it alone, he didn't want her to have to be the one to gain power. He wanted her to live happily and normal, and to let him deal with it for her.
"What are you looking at me like that for?" She asked, her tone harsh. "If you are planning on joining your brother, you best be ready to die. You will not bring harm to my children. Father or not."
He sat in silence, he didn't know how to react. She never treated him with such hostility before. It was something new, and he feared for her safety over his own.
The light fixture that had been swinging slowly overhead finally gave way and fell to the floor with a shattering noise, however the children did not wake, nor did they even stir.
Amora stood up, and left the warehouse, holding her two children in her arms. Their ages undetermined, she couldn't care at the moment. She couldn't understand their constant aging, and she didn't care to find out. The older they were, the safer they were, the more they could protect themselves.
She couldn't trust him, she didn't know why, but she felt distant all of a sudden. Upon learning the truth, she couldn't sleep or leave her children's sides.
"It's cold out here, Amora. You need to come back inside." he spoke, his voice whispering through the cold air. "For the kids."
"Leave." She spoke, but for some reason felt a sharp tinge in her chest saying it. "Go."
"Amora..."
"No. I said go."
There was a brief silence as she returned into the warehouse and lay her children down on old blankets.
He reached forward to comfort her, to touch.
She slapped his hand away and looked into his eyes. Her expression changed to one of shock for a second, with the next second consisting of her drawing her blade. She hit him with the dull end and jumped back.
"Amora!"
Her vision grew blurry, and she could see his purple eyes glowing amongst the mist of her vision.
"Amora! It's me!"
"Your eyes... like his..." She said, losing control of herself. Her eyes then shimmered sharply, bright red, and she charged at him, it was as if someone else had taken over her body. Someone inside her.
He tried to defend himself, but found himself trying to disarm her, to comfort her. It was all he wanted now.
SCHICK!
The blade pierced his side, and another stab punctured his left lung, the next cutting into his left arm.
He jumped back, blood pouring from his wounds. He coughed up blood, having troubles keeping in air. He stumbled backward, banging his body against the wall of the warehouse with a loud clang!
She pursued him, her gaze blank and red. This wasn't the Amora he knew. This was someone... something else.
She stabbed into the wall next to him, and he dodged out of the way as she aimed for his head. He ducked out of the way and out of the warehouse, running through the cold air and gentle rain as he cradled his wounds.
His gaze had betrayed not only him, but her.
All he could think about was how the timing was too horrible, just bad luck. He'd never been lucky, and now just proved that. He could feel himself bleeding out, his healing was doing just fine, but it needed to hurry, so he focused more on it than anything else, allowing it to speed up.
Furthermore, he rushed into the forest, the dark forest blanketed by trees that would shield him from the rain.
Upon reaching what seemed to be the middle of the forest, he fell to his knees, and then onto his chest.
"Why would you look at that? She even attacked her own lover. The father of her children." Shogeki taunted, walking in slow circles around him as he tried to bring himself to his feet, however he was weak, and the mud only caused his hands to slip. "When I kill her, I'll be sure to save the children... for now."
"All these years... you ruined everything. Our family... my happiness. Mom and dad were right... it'd all be better if you'd been dead."
"Oh my... killing words from my own brother." Shogeki crossed his arms. "Mother and father were weak. They were cowards. Afraid of their own son, just because he was more powerful than they'd ever be. Because he saw the truth of this world that they'd never experience. I was blessed, brother, can you say the same?"
"You're a monster."
"More killing words. How about I follow it up with... The killing blow!" Shogeki laughed, stabbing his sword into his brother's back, over and over and over again. "To be the one to kill you... how extraordinary!"
His vision grew blurry and dark, and before he knew it, everything was gone.
***
Amora found herself just now waking up alongside her children. She blinked awake, feeling her anger at her lover vanishing. Having survived the night, she knew he wouldn't kill her. However, he was nowhere to be seen.
She found herself leaving the babies on the blanket once more, and walking over toward the door, where a trail of blood led out of the warehouse.
With her lips pursed, she felt her front teeth bit down onto the soft flesh of her lips. A small gasp escaped her, and she bit down a little harder, the taste of blood circled her tongue.
