"I have severe reactions to cold environments."
'What?'
I'm dumbfounded by his statement.
"That's what the drugs are for. They help balance my internal heat system, hence keeping me warm and preventing me from shivering to death."
He says so smoothly like he's reading from a book.
"Oh." Is all I can say.
"You wanted to know, so now you know. Now leave." His cold tone commands, without looking at me.
If Coach is aware of this, why wouldn't he let Jake leave? Funny how he's been pestering me about leaving Camp when he's the one who should leave.
He turns to me, dropping his bag to the ground. "Didn't you hear me? I said leave."
I simply ignore him.
"But you should be wearing a sweater and sleeping in a tent." I say, getting a little angry that he's being stubborn.
He stops what he's doing and turns to face me in his squatted pose. "You made it worse. Now just go."
