Chapter 6 - The Sleepover

After a month of hanging out with Kiersten and Lisa, Eva felt the time had come for their first sleepover party! It was a Friday afternoon and school was letting out. "Do you guys got everything packed?" Eva asked as they walked through the courtyard. "We sure do! I have everything I need in this other backpack." Lisa said trying to hold two backpacks at once."It's not too long of a walk, is it?" Kiersten asked laughing nervously as she was feeling the weight of her backpacks as well. "Not at all!" Eva said with a smile.

"Hey you guys, hottie at 12 o'clock!" Kiersten said giggling. "He is the hottest guy in school! I wonder who he's waiting for." Lisa said dreamily. "Well, uh. Me." Eva said shyly. Kiersten and Lisa just looked at each other and laughed. "You're funny!" Kiersten said. "What a sense of humor." Lisa added. "Hey Eva." Leo said as he approached her. If a bomb ever went off in Kiersten and Lisa's minds it was here and now. They stood speechless with their mouths wide open.

"Hey Leo! Um, these are my friends Kiersten and Lisa." Eva said turning to them. "Hey, you guys." Said Leo. All they saw was a tall and handsome blonde with the wind blowing through his long hair and sparkles shimmering all around him. "H-h-hi." Kiersten said blushing. Lisa was at the point of passing out. "Let's get going, shall we?" Leo said as he headed out. They just stood there. "Come on, let's go!" Eva said following Leo. Kiersten violently pulled Lisa aside. "This girl's got some serious explaining to do!" "Uh-huh." Lisa said breathing in and out of a paper bag. "Come on!" Kiersten said as they ran to catch up.

"So, uh, your name's Leo right?" Kiersten said begging for a glance from him. Leo just looked ahead. "Yes." Kiersten and Lisa just sighed with disappointment. Leo then turned towards the two. "It's good to meet Eva's good friends." The two sighed again, this time with infatuation. "So, yeah. We're having a sleepover tonight. Did you want to join us?" Lisa and Kiersten gasped as they held each other. "I'm sorry, Eva. I have a major test that I need to study for. Maybe next time." "Sure, okay!" Eva said with a smile. "What a let down." Kiersten mumbled. As they made it home, Leo gave Eva a hug and left. Lisa and Kiersten held their breath. "Wha- did he just hug you?!" Kiersten exclaimed right after Leo entered his house. "Ok, that does it! We're getting to the bottom of this tonight!" Lisa demanded. Eva just laughed nervously.

The three proceeded to enter Eva's home and Eva introduced her friends to her family. "You guys, these are my friends I was telling you about!" "What a pleasure to meet you both! I'm Bertha, Eva's Mom." "Hello!" They said. "And this is Craig, Eva's Father." "Hello girls, nice to meet you!" Craig said looking up from his newspaper. "Eva's brother is in school right now, but this is his fiancé Annabelle!" "Well, hello there!" Annabelle said. "And these are my puppies!" Eva said opening the door with two very excited dogs running inside to greet them. "Aww, they're so cute!" They exclaimed. "So what do you guys think?" Eva asked. "You have a wonderful family!" Kiersten said. "And such adorable doggies!" Lisa added as she pet them. "We're going to have the best sleepover ever!" Eva shouted.

As night fell everyone changed into their pajamas. By now, Miguel was home and got to meet Eva's friends. "Ok, let's head over to Eva's room!" Kiersten said holding a bowl of popcorn. "I brought the goods!" Lisa said holding up her DVD's. "Shall we?" Eva asked. They entered Eva's room and started playing the first episode of Dog Boy. "Wow, you weren't kidding about the graphics. This is great!" Eva said munching on some popcorn.

Kiersten and Lisa just glared at Eva with their arms crossed. Eva was too into the show to notice. "Ahem." Kiersten said. Eva looked around to realize she was being stared at. "What?" She asked, laughing a bit. "You know what." Lisa said. "How is it that you are friends with the hottest guy in school?" Kiersten asked. "Yeah! And how did you end up becoming his neighbor?" Lisa added. "It gets stranger than that." Eva said. "What do you mean?" They asked. "I not only first saw him at the airport back in Spain, but we actually sat next to each other during the plane ride here!"

"What?!" They exclaimed. "You do know Leo's your soul mate, right?" Kiersten stated. "What? No way. We're just friends!" Eva said blushing. "That's how it always starts." Lisa said. "I think it's way beyond friendship. He hugged her like she was his girlfriend!" Kiersten stated. "You guys don't understand Leo. Look. I know that there's this stereotype that all men are supposed to be macho, but I believe Leo has a feminine side." "Are you calling him gay?!" Lisa exclaimed. "Being feminine doesn't mean that he's gay; at least, not necessarily. I mean, he might be but that would be none of my business." Eva said. "Well, does he usually hug other people in this way?" Lisa asked. "Not that I've seen. Then again, I might be his only friend so far." "Really?!" Lisa exclaimed. "Soul mate!" Kiersten said digging her hand in the popcorn bowl.

"Besides, even if he did like me that doesn't mean I like him back." "What?! Why?" Kiersten asked. "I'm A-sexual." "I don't believe you." Kiersten said. "If that were true then why do you always blush when you're around him?" Lisa asked. "I-do not…" Eva said. "Ha! You're blushing right now!" Kiersten pointed out. "Maybe you're just very cautious about who you want to end up with." Lisa suggested. "Heh, rather you believe me or not it's true. We're just friends and that's all we'll ever be!" Eva said proudly as she put her attention back on the show. "Okay, if you say so." Kiersten said smiling.

After binge watching 9 episodes of Dog Boy, the girls were pretty tired. They decided to sit in a circle and chat for a while before going to bed. "So, is Sakura wanting to stay in the past or is she doing everything she can to go home?" Eva asked as she started doodling a picture of Sakura. "It's hard to say. I think she wants to live in the past but is too caught up in her old life to notice." Lisa said snuggling in her sleeping bag.

"So, there's something I need to confess!" Kiersten announced. "What is it?" They asked. "I'm starting to fall in love with this guy." "Oh, really? What's his name?" Eva asked. "Jacob!" "That guy in our P.E class?" Lisa asked. "Yeah. He first introduced himself when we were jogging last month and now we can't stop talking!" Kiersten said infatuated. "That's great!" Eva said. "I know, we have so much in common. It's like it was meant to be!" Kiersten said sighing.

"You guys are lucky! Eva has Leo, Kiersten has Jacob and I've got no one!" Lisa said frowning. "I told you, Leo's just my friend." Eva said. "Sure he is." Lisa said sadly. "You know what? I'll prove it to you." Eva said. "What do you mean?" Lisa asked. "How about I try to get you on a date with Leo?" "What?!" They exclaimed. "Sure, why not? Leo already confides in me so I'm sure that I can get him to notice you." Eva said smiling. "You'd do that for me?" Lisa asked teary eyed. "Absolutely! I think you guys would make a cute couple!" Lisa pretended to faint. "This is the best day of my life!" Lisa said. Kiersten and Eva just started laughing.

Kiersten yawned. "Well, I'm going to bed." "Me too." Eva said. "You guys are going to bed already?" Lisa asked. "Yup! It's 3am for crying out loud!" Kiersten said as she laughed. "Fine, I'll go to bed too. You guys are wusses though." Lisa said giggling. "What did you say?" Kiersten said hitting her with a pillow. "Why, you!" Lisa said hitting her back. "Pillow fight!" Eva said hitting them both. They started screaming and laughing as an all out pillow war began. "You guys." Bertha said opening the door. "Huh?" Eva said as they stopped. "I'm glad you're having fun but it's really late and the rest of us are trying to sleep." Bertha said half awake. "Okay Mom, we'll keep it down." "Thank you, dear." Bertha said as she left. "Well, I guess that means it's time to go to sleep." Eva said as she crawled in her bed. "Goodnight, guys!" She said. "Goodnight!" They responded. Thus ended Eva's first sleepover with her new best friends.
