Chapter 30 - The Sleep Over

Today was the day Scarlett got to sleepover at Jasper's parent's place but she was all nerves even though it wasn't her first time to meet them.

It was just a day after she was released from the hospital. Jasper wanted her to have more rest before they go to their place but she was more anxious to get this over with.

Yes, Jasper's parents loved her and treated her with respect but the way Jasper had mentioned this sleepover with that odd look on his face was suspicious. Since then, she felt something was bothering him but he wouldn't open up to her.

However, Scarlett wasn't stupid which is why she wore sexy underwear and put an extra in her bag in case of an emergency - you never know what might happen. She had a faint feeling why his parents wanted them over.

The girl's phone lit up with a message, informing her that Jasper had arrived. Done with her makeup and all, Scarlett picked the last of the things and left the apartment building.

As expected, She found him leaning against his Rolls Royce looking suave and handsome - God, she was one lucky girl.

He was wearing a crisp white shirt with the first three buttons left open, showing off his collar bone and smooth chest with its sleeve rolled up. It was paired with black trousers void of wrinkles. If there was anything Scarlett learned from being with Jasper over the months, it was never to ask the price of whatever he put on his body. Jasper enjoyed luxurious things and that showed in his lifestyle.

"Hi," he waved

"Hi," she blushed

Waking over to her, Jasper grabbed her waist and kissed her on the lips, sweet and deeply, throwing hints he needed more.

"You look great," his eyes roved over her body.

Scarlett was wearing a black long-sleeved bodycon dress that showed off her perfect rear-end. Black was the girl's best color due to the fact it complimented her pale skin. She normally didn't dress this sexily but today was a special day.

"You're not bad yourself," she chuckled and pulled away, getting into the car as he opened the door for her. They hit the road, making small talks along the way.

"So, did you meet with your best man?" She raised the issue.

"Oh yeah, I did. We had quite an interesting chat yesterday," Jasper responded, eyes fixed on the road. No matter how much he wanted to look at his beautiful future wife, her life mattered more.

Scarlett pursed her lips asking,

"Do you think he's going to like me?"

"Why won't he like you?" he was surprised at her comment.

"Because he's not you?"

"Scarlett dear, you don't need to worry about a thing. I know Ben and when I say he would like you, I mean to the point of worshipping the very ground you walk on," he exaggerated.

"Sweet Liar," She chuckled.

"I mean it. Did you know when he saw your photo yesterday, he was so awestruck that he said to me, ' Jasper, you've struck a gem'? I was speechless," He narrated.

"This friend of yours must be a great flatterer," She observed.

"Haa!" Jasper scoffed, "He's the complete opposite of that; foul-mouthed, obsessive, meticulous, untrusting, argumentative - I wonder why he isn't a lawyer - yet passionate. He doesn't joke with whatever he puts his mind into," Jasper described him.

"Hmmm," Scarlett thought over it, the mystery friend didn't seem that bad aside from the obsessive part. Anyway, she would not have much contact with him since she had arrangements on her side to take care of.

"Don't worry, I'm making arrangements for the both of you to meet already. I'm sure you're going to like Ben,"

"Let's hope so," She mumbled under her breath, hoping to God he wasn't one of those backstabbers that claim to be friends with someone but then, secretly make a move on his best friend's girlfriend. She would have to paralyze from the waist down if he tries something stupid.

Jasper effused about Ben the rest of the journey, narrating their university days experiences that kept her occupied and distracted till they got to his parent's home.

As expected, the house still awes her every time she sees it. Built on a hill, the modern stylish house in a stellar location had a substantial living room with views of the lovely landscape outside. The hallway serves as a grand entrance to the rooms above and through the backyard, one was given access to a generous patio space and paths to a romantic private and serene seating area.

Upon reaching the second-floor landing, the balustrade forms a balcony overlooking the staircase. There were four bedrooms in total on the second floor, all having a full bath with a separate tub and shower while the lower level of the house has rooms occupied by the servants with its own entrance.

Jasper drove into the lawn as soon as the door was opened, stopping in the parking space. Scarlett got down on her own this time, waiting for him to walk around to her.

"Shall we, my lady," He gestured to her to take his arms.

Scarlett smiled and hooked her hand around his arms, they walked to the entrance door.

"Jasper!" His mother was the first to welcome them into the house.

"Mom," Jasper hugged her like a lover reuniting with his love for the first time after a long time - Scarlett loved the fact that Jasper never jokes with his parents.

"Scarlett dear," the woman shifted her attention from her son, hugging her now.

"Mother," She called.

Mrs. Amelia wanted her to call her that since the name had a personal touch to it. Besides, they would get married soon, she had to get used to calling them that.

"Father," Jasper went over to greet his father.

"Jasper, you're here,"

"Good day father," Scarlett did a bow

"Happy to see you're here, Scarlett," Mr. Emerson smiled warmly at her.

"Thank you, father,"

"Alright, come in, come in," Amelia ushered them into the living room enthusiastically.

Hardly had they taken a seat, Amelia began her inquiries, "So how have you two been?"

Jasper and Scarlett looked at each other, then he licked his lips and answered, "We've been fine, just busy at our different workplaces,"

"You work so hard Scarlett, no wonder you ended up in the hospital days ago. As a young lady, you should have time to take care of your skin and health," the woman advised her.

"Yes, mother," Scarlett acquiesced. The girl lived by a rule that says, "Never argue with your in-laws over unnecessary issues,"

Amelia stood to her feet, "Alright, I know you both are famished, which is why I prepared a very tantalizing meal,"

Scarlett never expected the woman to say in her direction, "Scarlett dear, You wouldn't mind giving me a hand in the kitchen, would ya?"

Scarlett gulped, looking uneasily from Jasper and to his mother, she still had that fishy feeling there was something to this sleepover today.

"Of course, mom," She agreed readily, with a fake smile plastered firmly on her face.
