"Welcome to L&L soup kitchen, you may have a seat "
"Oh my God, he's so cute!" A group of teenagers who were ushered inside by Jasper swoon all over him.
"I wonder if he would be volunteering here from now on?"
"We should ask him"
"Are you crazy! What if you scare him away?"
"Mom look, this big brother is very beautiful," said a little boy brought in by his mother and was pointing at Jasper to indicate who he was referring to.
"Shh, stop pointing and men are normally not referred to as beautiful but handsome, alright kid?" She corrected him.
"Would I be as handsome as him when I grow up?" The little kid inquired curiously, causing the mother to take a good glance at Jasper thoroughly.
She nodded, "Of course, even more handsome than him" she pinched her son playfully on the cheeks before carrying him off his feet amid his weight.
Jasper stood uneasily beside the door under the hot scrutiny of people flooding into the shelter.
Perhaps if he had known, he would have served the meals or cleaned out the tables than standing at the door and assuming the role of a doorman.
It was quite funny, if his parents saw him in such a state they'd probably scream their lungs out from shock at what their precious son was doing.
But he loved it, this job was different from what he ever did in his lifetime. Since his childhood, he didn't have to deal directly with this kind of situation or event, he would normally send funds, gifts, through his people, or just sponsor everything.
Associating with these people revealed the fact he was no different from them save their statues, but it was fulfilling seeing the smile on their faces as he ushered them in and knowing he was responsible for that, so their inquisitive or lovey-dovey stares didn't bother him.
His eyes darted around and settled on the redhead who was currently serving and smiling at an older woman in line with the others.
He didn't need to ask, the twinkle in her eyes told him she enjoyed what she was doing.
Jasper watched her like a kid obsessed with a new toy and smiled to himself upon recalling the episode in the staff room.
They were attracted to each other, that was obvious and he wouldn't mind dating her. He didn't worry about her being a gold digger, he had already profiled her during their first encounter.
She was a strong woman who worked hard for the things she had and wanted else the girl wouldn't have bravely chased him down and label him a thief at their first encounter.
Still lost in his thoughts, his eyes mistakenly jammed with hers and froze as a wide grin broke across her face.
It was that grin he saw that made his breath catch in his throat as he stared back at the fairy surrounded by glorious halo and radiance and he decided that moment, he had found his wife.
He would have probably stared on forever if the door hadn't moved and bumped slightly against him, rousing him from his reverie.
"Welcome to L&L Soup kitchen " he slightly bowed, welcoming the guest.
"Gosh, isn't he humble " Suzie, her friend, who had alerted her of Jasper's arrival earlier, squealed.
"Concentrate on your duty," She told her friend who was currently crushing on her date.
Scarlett didn't take her admiration to heart. Everyone knew Suzie was a sucker for handsome faces and so crushed on anyone and anything aesthetic to the eyes.
"You're so damn lucky, wish I was you right now " Suzie gushed but the person in question ignored her.
Standing against the counter, Scarlett scooped the spaghetti pie made with ground beef, crushed tomatoes, Italian herbs, and cheddar cheese into the plate of the lady standing first in line.
"Have a nice meal " she told her just as the lady moved with her tray to the next person who was Suzie.
The food was set up in a buffet with chafing dishes and each dish was served by different volunteers.
"If you don't make that walking meatball yours at the end of the day, I'd take him away and teach you how to appreciate rare entities like him"
And did she forget to add, Suzie was a chronic flirt.
Thanks to the transparent plastic mouth shield, they could speak freely without fear of their spits getting into the food.
"Thanks for your reminder, your royal highness" she replied in a playful, sarcastic tone.
They remained silent for a while until Suzie pointed out, "What's with your sister?"
"What ?" She asked, confused.
Suzie tilted her head, signaling her to look ahead.
She glanced up and saw it, Vivian purposely bumping into Jasper after pretending not to have seen him.
The remains from the empty dishwares she was carrying on multiple trays, toppled over while some fell, splattering and soaking into his clothes.
"I'm so sorry. I was a bit distracted" Vivian apologized profusely.
"No, it's okay," Jasper told her gently.
"No, this is all my fault. How can it be okay? "Vivian insisted, took out her handkerchief, and began to wipe him
Jasper's eye's uneasily traveled to the counter, wondering if Scarlett was seeing all this and perhaps misunderstanding this situation, since their position was quite ambiguous.
Vivian was running her hand all over his body in the pretense of wiping away the various stains on his clothes while tacitly pressing her boobs against his chest.
"It's alright, I'm good " Jasper gripped her hand and pulled her away - a bit forcefully this time.
"You sure? I still feel bad" She pouted her lips, tears shimmering at her eyes giving her a sympathetic look.
"Perhaps you should have my number, so when you dry clean, you could send the expenses to me "
"No need, it's nothing," he said for the umpteenth time already.
"Alright, see you around" she picked up the fallen dishes and went her way.
Suzie eyed her," She's putting so much effort, I was almost bought by her acting" she observed.
Scarlett sighed, "Her energy, not mine"
Both of them had watched the scene and she was lucky to have pulled her gaze away when he glimpsed her way.
Scarlett knew her sister was just wasting her time, but she hoped to God that Jasper was not fooling around with her.
Because he was one of the men who asked her out and survived a day without getting into an accident.
Yeah, call it a curse or something but each man that has ever dated her encountered one problem or the other until they had no choice but to break up with her, claiming she was nothing but bad luck.
This time, Scarlett hoped Jasper was her good luck.
