"Eh… This is getting complicated," Ermos complained, squinting as he troubled his tired mind to come up with a suitable answer. "I don't really know if anyone deserves to die. I think it's too strange to think like that, don't you? It's easier to do it as the animals do and only take what you need in order to survive."
"But what about a murderer? Someone that has killed lots of people, someone that will probably kill even more people, don't they deserve to die?"
"There's too much thinking in that," Ermos said, "that's the sort of thing an Earl will have to bother about, not me. When there's an enemy in front of me, I let my sword decide. If he's to live, then he'll live, if he's to die then he'll die."
