Chapter 6 - Getting a job

~~~~~~~~~~
Days went by, and Sano's condition stabilized with each passing hour. It's safe to say that this morning, he entirely recovered from the horrific injuries.
He tried to stretch his stay as much as he could, but it won't be possible anymore, at least, after one of the maids saw him doing stretches.
However, it won't be long till he convinces the old noble to make him one of his servants.
In the days of his stay, Sano not only focused on recovering but also illustrated some of his promising abilities.
Slowly, showing a sharp mind and excellent analysis skills, which complemented the role his trying to make.
His ultimate goal was to reveal an unpolished talent that can be valuable for someone like Baron Giovanni.
After all, he's identity in this world was a bastard, which means his previous self had no opportunity to even glance at a book, let along learn how to read it;
The brilliance of his brain was the only thing he can exhibit without looking doubtful.
And indeed Sano's efforts reached the noble ears, in the last day of his stay, two guards knocked on his room, peering inside as a long rolled scroll held in the hands of one of them.
He recognized the one on the left as the same one back in the tunnels while the other one was new to his eyes.
Skipping formalities, the guard on the left opened the scroll and started to read it's content, "We are on the place of our Lord, to bestow upon you a position,"
Getting up from the bed, Sano smiled and crossed his arms, waiting for the remainder of the speech.
The guard in the right slightly frowned, seeing the boy mannerisms, he didn't even bow down in gratefulness, immediately thanking the lord, and instead, attended to listen to the offer.
"Are you stupid? This is not an offer but an order!" The guard couldn't help but shout.
"I know, but that doesn't mean I can't listen to it first, right?" Sano calmly said. His eyes entirely ghosted the jealous guard.
An annoyed sigh reverberated in the room, and the guard continued, "News of your genius talent reached my lord, and because he's tremendous enthusiasm to cultivate talented people, he decided to appoint you as a fourth grade official in the mansion state of affairs, your training will be wielded starting from this moment,"
"I see," the blonde-haired kid grinned after his plan succeeded. He quickly wore the clothes a servant prepared for him and followed the guards to the state of affairs.
Strolling down the massive mansion, he memorized every path, door, fence so that he won't get lost when he starts the engaging investigation; however, passing by a red door situated in a long footpath, his overly sensitive nose caught up with something;
'it smelled like a hospital inside.'
'No, in fact, it scented exactly like the strong maid that took care of me.'
Sano didn't know that it would be this effortless to find the root, yet, he didn't understand how much of a smelling ability his previous body owner had, which was wildly recognized by the miners, to the point of calling him, "Scar dog," because of his vertical eye scar and the canine hunting snout.
After all, not only was the smell coming from the underground but also halted by a couple of gates.
'Great, now I know where to start from.'
Still, a problem unraveled inside his brain after finding out about the location of the state; it was far from the red door, it would take him at least couple minutes to go there, and there's also the matter of the four guards surveilling the path.
In his attempt to have more time for estimation, he pretended to tie his shoes, and then after making sure that the guards are not looking at him, he glanced at the four wardens.
Two were standing still, not moving at all, which made him wipe them to the equation till he figure out their habits and lunchtime later, while the remaining two were going in separate ways up and down the pathway, meeting each other at the center.
'0..2...7.....12.'
His count allowed him to know how much they took to go from the center of the path to the wall boundary, which means that at the count of exactly 12 seconds, both of them are the farthest from each other.
'Good, so that how it goes, the walking guards safeguard the path, while the standing guards look after their backs when walking the opposite way.'
A light hit sounded in Sano's head, followed by an angry yell, "How much time a slave could take to tie a godamn shoe,"
It was coming from the same jealous guard.
Sano finally got up and had a thoughtful look on the rude guard; just like every guard, he was wearing a silver leather jacket embossed with red at the center, as three feathers were stitched in the chest, showing the symbol of house Aldini.
His face was remarkable, in a bad way, from the double chin that looked like a butt till the long untrimmed black hair and the long beefy nose, a horse would've looked more appealing than him.
Sano still didn't farrow upon the attitude; he didn't want to give the guard what he wants, chiming, "A slave on the heart to my lord, but as you see a free man on flesh to my will,"
"A slave is always a slave, no matter what!" butt chin guard retorted.
"With such analogy, a guard is always a dog, no matter what,"
Sano added with a raised brow, "Now tell me which one is better, a slave? Or a dog?"
The guard was about to throw more tantrums but got stopped by his comrade, "Can't you stop creating us unnecessary problems? Let's just lead him to the state, and we can be done,"
Sano stuck to the talking guard side, as he no longer had anything to say.
They proceeded to the state and dropped him off in front of a door.
Sano knocked and waited for his supervisor to hear it; the guard already informed him that he would start his training under a first -grade official, and also this mansion financial manager.
A man opened the door; he was white-haired but not old, pretty like an angel, and tall like a tower; radiating a haughty and nimble aura contradicting the stillness in his face; however, his ear was super pointy, peering from his long straight hair, signaling that he wasn't from the human race.
'An elf? Huh!' Sano knew about the existence of such wise and environmental species, but it was still a surprise to him to see it upfront.
"Follow me," the elf said, with a smile, after taking a peek at the boy.
Once they entered, Sano saw an exotic room; it looked like a garden than an office, filled with windows and shelves, brown wood, and fresh air, papers scattered everywhere, some glued to the wall, some in the ground, while dusty books made a mountain over the work desk.
Sano went to the point without beating around the bush, "You got quite the lively room over here; let me guess, my so-called training is to become your cleaning boy?"
Surprisingly the elf turned his head, chuckling, "Well, that's some nice self awarness, you got there, that's exactly your first mission, clear the room, and organize the books," He then sat at the desk and said, "Ah! by the way, my name is Bailor; I don't care how do you address me; as long as you do your work perfectly,"
"Yes, sir Bailor, I will try my best to satisfy your objectives,"
And without pronouncing his name, he started scouring for papers.
Bailor was a very particular person, even though his a grade one officer in the southern area and had some noble origins, but he never accepted lackeys or people to work for him; he single-handedly governed the whole site of financial studies and decisions.
Sano didn't hesitate and did his assigned work energetically, waiting for a loose day to investigate more.
