Chapter 17 - Chapter 17

I quickly look through his shirts, finding one and placing it on, with a hoodie on top. I grabbed the pants I wore yesterday and put them on as well. I walk back downstairs to hear three voices. Thomas's, a lady, and a man. I guess those are his parents. I slowly walk back down the stairs, the floorboards creaking, giving away my place. When I finally turn the corner, his parents are looking at me, while Thomas is pouring the pancake mix onto the pan.

The dad walks up to me first, smiling. "Hi, son. Nice to finally meet you. Thomas has told us a lot about you, but we almost thought that he was making excuses to see a girl." He says, sticking out his hand. Ha, that's a good one. I take his hand and firmly shake it. Act confident, and everything will be alright.

"Nice to meet you too sir, your son has helped me get better grades in chemistry," I say, smiling at him. He nods, as the wife just smiles at me. "That's great, what did you learn yesterday." The dad asks me, as I comb my hand through my hair. Shit, I'm doomed. "Uh, we-"

"Pancakes are ready!" Thomas says, everyone, looking at him. Oh, thank fucking god. I mouth 'thank you' to him, and he rolls his eyes, before winking at me. He places the pancakes on the plates as I help him move the plates to the wooden table.

The parents sat across from each other, so I and Thomas did as well. The meal was silent, the sound of plates and forks clattering filled the room. "So, Parker, do you do any extracurricular activities?" The mom asked as I looked up at her. "Uh, yeah. I play soccer." I say, before taking another bite.

"That's cool. Were you always into sports?" This is making me uncomfortable. "Yep. I used to play baseball and basketball, but in the end, I decided on soccer." I say, making sure my voice didn't sound muffled.

She hums, and the table went silent again. I looked up and Thomas seemed to be done as well. He looks at my plate, then me, and smiles. I try to hide the smile forming on my face, but I can't. He stands up, and I follow suit. "Uh, we should probably be going," Thomas explains while we both got out of our seats.

We walk into the kitchen to place our dishes in the sink when Thomas starts a conversation. "So, I guess you like my parents, huh?" He says smirking at me. I roll my eyes, as I placed my plate in the sink. "They are very classy," I explain as Thomas nods in understanding. "They like the olden days. When women were always introduced." He says smiling at me. He looks down at the hoodie, before looking back up at me "You look good in my clothes." He says, before walking out of the kitchen.

"The meal was nice," I say and smile at the couple as they smile back. "I hope we can see you soon Parker." The dad says as I nod to him, before walking out of the dining room. "You should probably get your stuff," Thomas says, and I nod, quickly running up the stairs. I walk into Thomas's room and hear buzzing coming from his phone.

I grabbed my backpack, and his phone, and walked back downstairs. I handed him his phone, and he looked at me confused. "Are you already suggesting that I'm cheating on you?" Thomas asks, his eyebrow raised. I roll my eyes at his comment, before wrapping my backpack on my back.

"No, it was just buzzing a lot and I didn't know what to do," I explain as he slipped on some slides. "Oh, ok, thank you." He said, with a genuine smile. He opens the door, walking out and giving me room to leave as well. I step out of the door, the dry, warm, air hitting me like a wall. "Thank god the game wasn't today," I say as Thomas locks the door. I walk down the steps, and Thomas turns around, before doing the same.

We both walk towards the white car he drove yesterday, tossing the keys up and down. "Ok, we get it, your older than me." I joked as Thomas jus chuckled. "Which means you need a car seat," Thomas says, unlocking the car and opening the door. I opened my side door and slowly slid in, as Thomas shut his door.

"I wonder, do you think that someday, we can fly the world?" Thomas asks, looking over at me as he starts the car. I closed my door, then looked at him. "We can do whatever you want," I said, smiling at him. He placed his hand on my thigh, and I laughed, just before his phone buzzed again. Thomas sighs, before glancing at me, before back at the road.

"Can you check whatever's making my phone buzz?" Thomas asks, eyes still on the road, voice distant. "Uh, are you sure? I don't want to look at your phone and find something I don't want to see." I say as Thomas's grip tightened on my thigh. "Ok, ok, jeez. I'm sorry for making a joke about your search history." I say, and Thomas let's go of my thigh, instead of placing it on the steering wheel. "Well, now I don't feel loved," I complain as Thomas sighs aggravatedly. I notice the anger and smile softly at him.

I'm just pulling your string baby. I'll check your notifications." I say, unlocking his phone and checking the notification bar. "Uh, you seem to have a lot of texts from Alex, some are from Sara, and one from Starla," I explain, watching his reaction, but getting nothing. "Ignore Alex's text, I don't want to talk to that asshole. But call back Starla, she's probably with Sara." Thomas says, and I nod, clicking the call button for Starla.

"Where the hell is you?!" Starla yells from the other end, I try so hard not to laugh that my face turns red. "I'm with Park, what's up?" He asks, his tone neutral, scary neutral. "Wait, I thought you dropped him off yesterday?" Starla asks, and Thomas sighs, waiting at a red light. "No, he stayed the night because I had to help him with chemistry," Thomas explains, sitting back in the seat and waiting for the light to turn green.

"You know we saw you two kissing, right?" I and Thomas both freeze in our seats, breath pulled out of my chest. "What?' Thomas asks, still frozen in his seat. I stare at his phone, waiting for a reply. We heard a distant, "Really Starla." And I looked at Thomas confused. How the hell did they notice us?! No one was outside?! "She's just pulling on your string guys." The distant voice says again, and I and Thomas sigh in relief.

"Come on Sara, at least let them be confused for one second." Starla groaned as I tried to catch my breath. "Why did you guys call me? It's a Saturday?" Thomas question, his voice uneven from the scare just a couple of seconds ago. "We were wondering if you guys wanted to hang out at the mall," Starla says as Thomas looks at me for a second, a questioning gaze.

"Where are you guys now?" He asks as we heard whispering coming from the other side of the phone. "We are going to Manchester Mall; do you guys want to meet there?" Sara's voice rang through again. Before Thomas could answer, I cut through. "Uh, yeah. We'll meet you on the far-left side." I explained, before sitting back in my seat. The red light finally turns green, and the car starts again. "K, since you guys are coming, I'm going to get everyone else," Starla said, and Thomas took an exit onto the highway. "Ok, we'll be there soon," Thomas says, finally more relaxed as the car started moving again.

"Ok, perfect. We'll see you there." Sara's voice became prominent before the call ended. "I guess, we're going to the mall," I said, sighing with contempt.
