Chapter 6 - First Day at The Academy

.....

"Rock Lee!" Aunt yelled before pulling off the covers to my bed. "If you don't hurry and get dressed... you'll be late!"

"Yeah, yeah." I mumbled as I sat up groggily. Wiping my eyes and letting out a yawn, I walked to my counter to get dressed. "Just how long do I have Aunty?"

"You have enough time to eat breakfast, but you'll have to run to make it on time Lee." She said before going towards my kitchen. "I'll pour some cereal and pack a lunch for you while you eat. Remember to grab your pouch of ninja tools also."

"I won't forget anything." I muttered silently as I put on my relatively normal clothes. "All I have it a pouch of tools and a pair of clothes..... how COULD I forget anything?"

Grasping the sandals with my hands, I set them beside the pouch before focusing on the contents inside. Once I was sure I wasn't missing anything, I slipped on my sandals before attaching my pouch to my waist.

Walking into the kitchen, I immediately began to eat my cereal and watched in boredom as my Aunt packed up a lunch.

"Room number?" She asked in the middle of slicing a piece of ham.

"Class 32 with a total of 17 students." Picking up the final bits of cereal, I took a bite before setting the spoon down. "And the amount of girls I like is currently none.... except Aunty of course."

"Good Lee." Nodding, she put the piece of ham in between two slices of bread. Packing the simple sand-which into a brown bag, she walked up to me with a smile before placing the bag on the table. "Let's have a good first day okay? Maybe get yourself a friend or two while your at it."

"Don't worry Aunty, I don't see myself getting into much trouble on the first day." I said with a childish expression while sneakily grabbing the bag. "I'll probably be coming home very late.... is that alright with you?"

"Lee." She said seriously causing me to flinch. "What exactly do you want to do during those extra hours? Got a secret 'friend' I should know about?"

'Dear god I'm 5 woman!' I screamed internally with a calm face. Making myself fidget, I scratched my head before looking down. "Well.... you see...."

"What should I see Lee?"

I then stood up with tightly closed eyes and yelled while forcing a blush. "I want more time to train!"

Staring a me blankly, she tilted her head to the side in confusion. "That's it? Why are you so embarrassed about that anyway? It's just extra training isn't it?"

'I'm not embarrassed. It's just a part of my master plan, hehehehe.' Making my blush deepen even more, I turned my head to the side and muttered something inaudible.

Sighing, she patted me on the head before reassuring me. "Speak up Lee, I promise I won't be mad."

"W-well I want to be stronger....." I stuttered before purposely avoiding my Aunt gaze. "So I can protect you....."

"....." Looking at me with a blank expression, she spoke on an subconscious level. "Sure, go ahead and spend all the time you need Lee."

'Success!'

...

Running through the streets is a blur of green. That blur of course is me! Many of the shop owners of the area who wake up early glanced at me before casually returning to their work. Ninjas and kids running around the village really aren't something to be concerned about considering 90% of them have seen worse.

One of these things being the overbearing might of the nine tailed fox. So a few ninjas jumping on rooftops and kids running to the academy just serves for entertainment purposes instead of raising concern.

Anyways, I had decided to put a little extra work in and sprint at full speed without any breaks to the academy. As I was on the opposite side of the village, this little run served as a good warmup for the day.

On the way, I saw some Gennin painting fences, saving cats from trees, and even cleaning up litter. Many of the ones doing these tasks are either weaklings afraid of taking higher tier missions or brand new Gennin.

It's actually genius now that I think about it, having an army that helps the community via missions builds familiarity towards our ninjas. It also happens with missing cases and even murder now that I think about it. There are even construction missions which has sped up the growth and expansion of the village greatly.

This along with the low requirements to join the Academy, we have effectively attracted more students for the Ninja Academy. But alas, the bare requirement for joining the Academy requires for you to be able to unlock their chakra pathways and control said chakra. Control methods can include simple circulation through the body or releasing of it.

Methods to unlock chakra are given to the students trying to become ninja. And if they fail.... the Yamanaka clan makes sure to clear their memory. This is why most bandits don't even have the ability to manipulate and mold chakra in the first place.

It's a bit harsh to seal a kids memories, but hey.... it's the world I live in now. It's not even that disturbing when I compare it to things like the kekkai genkai breeding act. Do I even have to mention the things that happen to the enemies kunoichi?

Yeah this world isn't all sunshine and rainbows. But I guess it's a lot better than having a literal nuke over your head every waking hour. Or being sick, alone, and your only friend being yourself..... wait that was just me wasn't it? Compared to that, I find the dangers and randomness of the world to be kind of enjoyable.

'I'm also speaking to myself a lot more than usual. Maybe I should get a friend like Aunt suggested?'

...

Arriving in front of the door to class 32, I slide the door open a tiny bit before peeking into the classroom. 16 kids where all seated inside and staring at the man in front of the classroom with boredom.

"When is he going to arrive teach? We should have already started class by now!" An annoyed boy with white eyes indicating he was a hyuga complained.

"Yeah, I'm trying to be like Tsunade after all." A girl with dark brown hair tied into buns whispered to herself as she observed the rest of the kids in class.

Hearing the two, the rest of the class jumped up and started to join the two in their complaints. The teacher hearing them sighed a bit before slapping his hand on the podium causing a sound to pass through the class. Shocked at their teachers action, all of the kids eyes were drawn towards him.

"Stop bickering and calm down." He said with an annoyed tone before moving his hand towards the sliding door. "I have a new student to introduce to you all. So please be quiet and respectful as he presents himself."

Stepping to the side, he walked to the side of the podium before clapping his hands softly. "You are allowed inside student."

Sliding the door open, I calmly made my way to the podium and stopped in front of it. Observing the faces of the people inside the class, I could only make out TenTen and Neji. The only reason Neji was in a civilian class was because of his slave mark and his fathers 'transgression' against his clan.

Anyways, I coughed a bit to clear my throat before calmly speaking to the class. "The names Rock Lee, but I personally prefer to be called Lee. My likes include taijutsu, my Aunt, and training. My dislikes are prideful people, wasted talent, and not being able to train."

"Do any of you have any question for Lee?" The teacher asked while scanning my body with a bit of interest.

"Me! Me!" A kid in the back yelled out and was called up by the teacher. "What's your talent! Like can you read or play an instrument?"

"I don't have any talents." I said blandly causing him to have a confused expression. "The only thing I would consider myself even having any potential In is taijutsu."

Neji hearing me removed his gaze from me and began to stare out the window. It seemed he had lost his interest as soon as I denied myself being a genius.

"What about ninjutsu or Genjutsu?" TenTen asked causing me to form a small smile. My teacher noticing my smile closed his eyes and looked away with a sad frown. I had already notified him and the hospital of Konoha of my disability

"I can't use either of those." I said causing her to immediately frown. "And it's because I have a disability preventing me from having the ability to mold chakra."

"So that means your useless." Neji spoke out in a know it all tone causing me to cringe. "That means you have automatically lost the right to be a ninja. After all, what's the point of having somebody who can't resist Genjutsu? You'll get hit by a fire ball or a shuriken before even landing a punch!"

"You should study up on Might Duy and his son Might Guy before saying something like that to me Neji." I said with a frown and earning another look from the teacher. "Then I'll talk with you more on if I or if I can't."

Looking around, I saw some of the less talented and more average kids interested on who I was talking about. Others where of course like Neji and simply didn't think I was worth their time or effort.

"Anymore questions?" The teacher asked and waited for a couple more seconds before smiling brightly. "Good, now since Lee is new here. Why don't we take a break from history and go down the the academy training grounds?"

"Yeah!" The passionate kids resounded out with the more serious ones like Neji staying quiet. 'He really is a pain in the but to deal with. And his but is probably in constant pain due to the tree trunk stuck inside it.'

.....

Lined up in front of the logs where a bunch of students with kunai. One by one they would go and as I was last in line, I had plenty of time to ask around for help. And the one person I really wanted to learn from was TenTen.

She probably has the best talent in weapons and fuinjustu out of any other character besides maybe Minato and the second Hokage. Conveniently she was pretty high up the list and was one of the first to go.

Her score was a perfect 100% accuracy with a perfect score of 100 from 10 kunai. Shuriken throwing will be tomorrow and she will probably get 100% on that test too.

"Excuse me, can I please ask you something?" I asked politely while purposely stepping in front of her to get her attention.

Looking me up and down, she smirked a bit. "You want me to give you tips on shurikenjustu right?"

In response to that, I just nodded my head. "Yes I do, I haven't had anyone to go off example of and you're probably the best one in class when it comes to shurikenjutsu based off my observations."

Raised an eyebrow at my subtle flattery, she smiled mischievously and leaned closer to me. "And why should I help you?"

"I'll give you my lunch." I said with a serious face causing her to snicker and put her hand out. She rummaged in her pouch with her other one before pulling out a kunai. "Please give me your hand."

Trusting her, I let her put it in my hand before moving my fingers to grasp it a certain way. "Alright this should be good enough. All you need to do is just remember that this is the basic way to hold a kunai."

"I of course hold them differently. But this is the best way to grasp one for a newbie like you." She said before moving behind me. And once behind me she tapped my thigh signaling for me to move around.

And once we where done, she had put me in a pretty basic stance which shouldn't be hard for me to remember. "Alright now we have the stance and grasping the kunai in your head. All we need to do is teach you how to throw."

Grasping my forearm, she positioned my arm in a certain position before pausing. "When you get ready to throw a kunai. This form should be good enough for you to at least HIT something."

"Now all we need to do is flick your arm outwards...." She began as she slowly moved my arm forward. "And once your arm is about to reach the maximum amount it can extend, simply flick the wrist and let it fly."

Taking back the kunai, she waited for me to get out of my stance before handing it back. "Now do all the steps again on your own. I'll try my best to tell you what's wrong and not wrong. You'll be responsible for fixing said mistakes."

Nodding towards her, I began to practice the things she taught me while being constantly berated by her. "No you fool! Your grasping on the kunai wrong! Your legs are too far apart! Tighten them a little... wait not too much! Hey, hey! Keep a grip on that kunai! You could kill somebody! Don't keep your muscles too tight either!"

We pretty much kept this up while everyone in class slowly took their turns to complete their kunai exercises. And by the time I was called up for throwing, I had already reached a 'good standard' according to TenTen.

Walking up to a log without any kunai embedded in it. I reached into my pocket and took out a kunai. The kids around me of course began to snicker as they saw me as something to mess with due to my lack of talent regarding ninjustu. Children seriously do hold an extremely twisted and honest mind.

Focusing in on my target, I zoned out on the bullseye before throwing one of my kunai at it. To my surprise and to the others, I had actually managed to hit bullseye! Happy, I smiled towards TenTen who only mouthed out that I still needed work.

My next few throws consisted of 7s and 8s, but I was at least confident that I was a getting a better feel for shrunkenjustu. By my last throw, my average rate had raised up to 8 and 9s. Unfortunately one of my kunai hit a 5 causing both myself and TenTen to mumble in displeasure.

"100% accuracy, 69 points, Rock Lee." The teacher said causing the students to freeze.

"I barely even made it to the 50s!" An average joe in the class complained causing others to feel bitter too. The class average could be an accuracy rate of 60% with its average points per person ranging from 40-60.

So many felt bitter that a new student on their first day had done better than them. Fortunately they had a chance to redeem themselves in the next event.

"Now that everyone is done with their shurikenjutsu. We shall move into taijutsu sparing. First to spar will be Ame against TenTen."

'Oh this should be fun.' I thought as an excited smile appeared on my face. 'I finally get to use some punching ba-... I mean... get some partners to fight and gain experience from.'
