After securely locking the door Tanisha turned to look at Adina who was sitting on the bed too clueless to even think anything. Tanisha sighed and started pacing the room in long strides. Adina was just looking at her dumbfounded. The silence was too much to bear for Adina so she finally said,"Tanisha?" She stopped and turned towards her. She said again,"Tanisha, right?" and got a hum in reply. She again tried,"Well.. I-" before she could say anything her stomach made a grumbling noise. She flushed red with embarrassment and clutched her black hoodie with both her tiny hands. Only then did she realise how famished she was.
Tanisha smirked playfully a little then said," You can wait here. I'll bring you something to eat." Before leaving the room she turned around and said with a straight face,"Let me tell you this for the very first and last time or better say.. lemme warn you DO. NOT. try to escape. In the forest yout scent might've blend in it but here, in this very mansion, things are totally different. Your scent will stand out for them the most and you won't be able to leave here until they say so. Consider this a friendly advice if you think your life is precious for you or someone out there." And she left.
Adina stared blankly at the spot where Tanisha stood mere seconds ago and repeated her words in her head. There was too much information to take in. She just wanted to rest to give herself some time to gather her thoughts. Things were overwhelming for her and yes she didn't wanna die or even put others lives at risk. She knew she couldn't escape this place and so she wasn't even gonna try and risk her life. These people are in true sense.. dangerous. All she wanted was everything to be just a bad dream because vampires and stuff aren't real. It's all fictional, right? Her stomach grumbled yet again distracting her from her thoughts.
The door opened and Tanisha came in with a tray loaded with delicious looking food items. The aroma of the dishes made her drool a little bit. As soon as the tray was put in front of her she started devouring the food hungrily. She heard a chuckle come from Tanisha so she looked up and indeed she was chuckling looking at her. She flushed red and said,"I'm sorry. I don't really am ill-mannered like this. I was just too hungry to care. Sorry." Tanisha smiled and said, sitting down on the bed in front of her," Understandable and don't worry it's all for you. Have as much as you want." Adina smiled and said,"Then I won't hesitate. Thank you."
A moment later a disturbing though made her cough and choke on her food. Tanisha rushed to pour a glass of water for her. After drinking the water Adina felt relieved and thanked her then said,"If you don't mind, can I ask you something?"
"And what if I said, I do mind?"
"I-.. umm.."
She laughed and said,"Go on. I don't mind."
"Well umm.." clearing her throat she continued, "I was- I was meaning to ask a.. a question. Are- are you.... are you also a va-"
"NO!" came the reply, halfway cutting her question," Oh God! no no no no.. What even made you think that! Heck no!"
"I'm sorry. I was just-.. I shouldn't of said- "
"It's ok. I don't blame you actually.. but no. I am not one of them. None of us who work here is .. except for the Simmons themselves."
"Huh? That's- how do I say it?- surprising?"
"I think I know what you mean but those questions are to be answered only by them. I can't help you there, Adina, if I may call you that?"
"Uh! Ya.. Sure."
Both of them smiled at each other and Adina continued her feast and then went to sleep.
