First day of senior year, Anah had been desperately waiting for this year since her dream to leave the tower's walls. She envisioned herself as another Rapunzel being locked out from the unknown world of opportunities. This picture first came to form right around her teen years. She had once read an intriguing phrase when roaming around her school library, looking for a new read. It stated:
"Home is where the heart is."
That idiom had left her lost in thought and speechless. From that day on, those line stuck to her. She had never felt home ever again,
'Her heart is missing,' she'd say.
Inside celebrations to her last year of high school, Anah dressed up earlier than usual. She was ready to head out before any other souls woke up, but her mother beat her to it. The only other soul, up and about. Like every other day, Anah's mother was awake to make breakfast. Today being a school day, she had also arranged Anah's lunch for her.
Mothers are a gift from god for every other child in the world. Funny thing, this also was uncertain, every child had their own darkness to cope with, for some it was their parents. Fortunate for Anah, she got lucky with her parents, well as long as she didn't go against their belief.
Wait, Anah didn't know this fact just yet because she was nowhere nearly close to her parents as she was to her journals. Conversations exchanged among them were as short as "Yes" and as long as "It was good" when asked regarding school. So, Anah didn't find out about this dark and frightening twist till the day she finally spoke her heart.
Back on track, Anah grabbed lunch and stuffed breakfast as she started her walk to school. She reached her school gates in no time; she wished the school guard a jolly good morning before she headed inside.
Summer vacation had been unbearably long for Anah. Her one and only friend, Yelda, goes home every summer to meet her poorly grandmother, leaving her behind. Anah and Yelda had been friends for four years and counting, it was almost time for their fifth friendversary.
Yelda as in Dark Night, her name was practically made for her, complimenting her dark blue eyes that reflected the night sky and her outstanding personality that beamed like the moon, especially at her worst nights. Like every traditional human family, there was no such thing as perfect.
Despite what the outer cover portrayed, like a beautiful day could turn into a storm, this day was no different. Back to school, luckily this year Anah and Yelda ended up in the same classroom. Sitting diagonally across the extreme ends of the class, these two young ladies were overjoyed and could hardly be separated. That was until the bell rang, announcing the first day of class.
Walked in the teacher Ms. M in her high heels echoing down the hallway as she enters the class. Ms. M's usual attire of the day, her mustard yellow sweater, book in her arms with her notes for every class and her strict looking glasses sitting at the top of her perfect bun hair.
She cleared her throat to get everyone's attention to settle down before she gets started with the day. Surprisingly, not five seconds later, a new male face enters the class, in the school uniform.
