Chapter 13
Allura
While swimming around, Rimulus guided the girls to what seemed to be an old, elaborate building made of rock and other stones of the water area. The girls questioned as to why he was leading them to here. Was this a trap?
"What is this, Rimulus?" Lynae asked.
"This is the Oceanus Pacificus Archives; it's called Oceanus Archives for short. If you are wanting to know more about the royal family, about our origins, our history, or our way of life, then this is a good place to start." Rimulus explained.
"It actually wouldn't hurt, I mean I know I can see only parts of the past, but it would be best to read these records while I'm still in the developing stages of my potential ability," Amelia agreed.
"What? I thought you could see everything in the past?" Meredith questioned.
"I only saw portions of it, and I didn't even try to find it. I can't see the past or the future yet. Maybe these books will have something about our powers and how they controlled it."
"You're not the only one?" Rimulus was surprised.
"You didn't see?" Lynae asked.
"I doubt he would have since he was on the ground and I squirted that ink," Meredith gave a possible solution.
"What other powers?"
"Rimulus, Lynae and I have powers too. While you were on the ground, I threw a large boulder at those men before getting that squid to squirt that ink. After that, Lynae froze the mermen in place so that they wouldn't follow us,"
"I don't believe it," Rimulus doubted.
Meredith concentrated a little causing the ground to shake and grabbed part of large rock and brought it inside the archives. Lynae focused on the rock and froze the rock into a large ball of ice. She then moved the giant ice ball above them. Finally, she concentrated harder to shatter the ball into tiny pieces of crystals.
"You.." Rimulus said while looking at them with wide eyes.
"Did that convince you enough?" Lynae said with an annoyance.
"You two are the reincarnates of Eira and Lachlan! I can't believe I am standing with three of the five reincarnates of the siblings!" Rimulus said with joy. "Eira, one of the opposing twin sisters, she had the same demeanor. Cold as ice but kept collected."
"Was Lachlan a strong princess I take it?" Meredith asked.
"Actually, he was a prince,"
"What?!" Meredith cried out.
After hearing this, both Lynae and Amelia snickered on how she took the news.
"Lynae, stop it's not funny," Amelia tried scolding her but she couldn't stop giggling.
"You're right, it's hilarious!" Lynae said making fun of her sister.
"You two are jerks!" Meredith blushed in frustration.
"I'm sorry, Mere. I just didn't expect you being a reincarnate of a prince rather than a princess," Amelia stopped giggling.
"I'm not. It's no wonder she acts so brash," Lynae grinned.
"Um, I assure you, Meredith, that I am sure that ancestors reincarnate with a different gender as much as they would with them being the same gender," Rimulus tried calming her down.
"Still, I did not expect this at all. I mean I saw a male with great strength in one of my visions, but I never thought she was the reincarnate of him!" Amelia explained.
"Do you think the remaining sibling reincarnates are still out there?" Lynae asked.
"How would we know if they were reincarnated in the first place?" Amelia asked.
"I don't know, why don't you find out, miss fortuneteller?"
"I can't, I'm only starting to get a grasp of this ability. Besides I doubt it even works that way," Amelia explained.
"As I said, these books will give you all that you need to know. As far as wielding those powers, the only solemn advice I can give is to follow the archives of the ancestors through journals they have kept or perhaps other records pertaining to it," Rimulus advised to the girls.
Once more, Amelia concentrated on trying to find the mysterious mermaid that spoke to them that night. It took a few minutes, but Amelia's face lit up. Then she jolted towards the exit.
"I have her trace, let's go," Amelia said hurrying the gang.
Not questioning her intuition, they left the archives in a rush. Amelia lead the way for a bit and then Rimulus snuck up beside her.
"Do you know where exactly she's at?"
"I don't know the layout of the seas here, but I can sense how close we are to her. Plus, I think she's expecting us since she hadn't moved,"
An hour or so had passed and they arrived to where they were expecting the mermaid to be.
"I know you are here, Allura, show yourself!" Amelia demanded.
The girls and Rimulus were astonished on how she figured out the mermaid's name. On the ceiling of some ruins, she crept out of the shadows and began speaking.
"So, you know my name, I guess proper introductions are not needed," Allura swam down to them.
"You wanted us here, you were calling us β calling to me to lure us out here, but why, I am not certain yet. Did you figure we were looking for you?" Amelia questioned more.
"Like you, Amelia, I am a telepath as well. I can cause hallucinations, manipulate the minds of my targets, I can see the future, make objects move at my command, and even communicate telepathically. However, I am many things, but I am not the 'descendent' of one of the royal siblings,"
"What's that supposed to mean?" Meredith asked.
"You girls were chosen to be the reincarnates of the royal brethren. Amelia, you are the reincarnate of Cirra, the coronum reginae of dreams. You, Lynae, are the reincarnate of Eira, regis filae of frost. Your ascendant was also a twin. Notably twin sisters of ice and fire. And you, Meredith, are a special case. Never have I imagined that the elder princeps has chosen you to be his reincarnate. He saw something in you thinking that gender does not matter, but of courage and heart, in which, I sense you possess abundantly. He was master strategic in some of the wars fought in his days, and was made General of the Imperial Militia. He wielded weapons that were beyond any merfolk or human strength. He also had the ability to move the terrain on land and sea." Allura explained.
She paused for a brief second and continued on why she expected the girls and why she wanted them to find her.
"I understand that you girls cannot be here for long. So let me tell you what I have in mind. I'm going to be your tutor to be able to get these abilities mastered. What I aim to achieve is for you girls to be able to accept these abilities as second nature and a part of you as whole. I want you girls to be able to subconsciously control your powers without so much of a struggle to concentrate on performing a task. Amelia, since you are located on the other side of the continent and the nature of your power, we can tutor telepathically. You two are expected to be here after school and on your free time on breaks from school. Each session will be an hour or two β give or take on the nature of each lesson, but I won't hold you up on other obligations you may have."
"You're going to teach us how to use our abilities?" Meredith asked quizzically.
"Is there a problem?" Allura asked.
"No, I just find it strange is all,"
"How so?"
"You said you have the same power as Amelia, but how will you teach us on our abilities since we aren't telepathic?"
"Good question, I may not be able to teach you tricks on the nature of your abilities, but I can teach you the basic maneuvers on how to handle and execute your abilities. Each magic ability has the same techniques of releasing those powers. Learning to control is essential because without control β grave consequences can occur without control," Allura eyed on Amelia.
Amelia looked at her with a concern on her face after she saw that glance when she said that last part. What did she mean? Did she refer to the release of the Magna Dracona Aquia? Amelia had a strange vibe about Allura, but could not pinpoint on what that vibe was. Was it a threatening vibe? Was it a strange vibe about her in general? Amelia knew that she was no ordinary mermaid, but she couldn't figure out with her mindset on her intentions. Although, Amelia did not have anything to go on not to trust her. She read her mind and saw that her intentions were true. But something still felt interesting about her, and Amelia was drawn into her somehow.
The girls bade farewell to Allura. They headed back to the coasts of where their supplies were. Rimulus was there to see them off.
"I'll see you again, your highnesses β hopefully not too long," Rimulus spoke in sadness but in a proficient tone.
"I hope I can see you again, Rimulus," Amelia said.
"Why don't he go to the Atlantic while we have Allura training us here?" Lynae suggested.
"Lyn, we can't ask him to be away from his home," Amelia said.
"As of today, I have no home. I can't go back to my village after what happened. I think it would be best to put some miles from the village and reside in Atlantica for a little while."
"Is that what you want?" Amelia asked.
"It's the more logical decision; besides, I have nothing left here," Rimulus answered.
"If that's what you want, then the next time I'll see you, it'll be in Atlantica waters," Amelia said smiling.
"I'll be waiting, your highness," Rimulus bowed to her.
The girls waved at him as they went back to the surface underneath the pier. They reached for the chest and grabbed towels to dry each other off. Once they were dried, they got dressed and head back to the house. While they didn't get the answer they were looking for, they got the solution on what they must acquaint to their new bodies, their new abilities, and the future they never expected to come across.
