A small black bunny stared at his owner in wariness.
My mother told me that humans are despicable and I now see why. Pei! What love? Pei! What affection? This human wants my life, ah! Who'll eat your filthy carrots? Do I look like an easy bunny to bribe? Who knows if your trying to poison me!
An owner stared back at a small black bunny in wariness. Why is it looking at me like that, ah? Did I scare it? Is it full? Does it need a vet? I fed it before so it shouldn't be hungry… Is that why its not eating? Could it be sick? Did it over eat?
Su Qingtang sighed before patting the bunny on the head and letting him unto her couch. The bunny didn't spare her even a second glance as it dove away. I shall forgive you for manhandling me this once but you are still too lacking to even dream of gaining my approval as my owner, humph!
"System. Do you think the little fellow hates me?" Su Qingtang asked, suddenly. The vibe Su Qingtang was getting from this animal was hard to describe.
"Humph! You only remember me now that you have a question. Do I look like I speak furry to you?" The system harrumphed in dissatisfaction. All the host ever did was wipe clean after eating. She always chose to forget the sacrifices it made for her and always bullied it. This system refuses to stand for this anymore.
Ever since that black fur beast came his host left it on the back burner. How could the system be satisfied? I'm not jealous but just… speaking out against injustice. Yes. Speaking out against injustice. It was a righteous system after all.
Su Qingtang ignored the systems vinegar and watched delightedly as the little bunny sniffed around in curiosity. It seemed like the bunny was coming to accept its new home. She heaved a sigh of relief.
Su Rui walked over and glanced at his sister's bracelet clad hand with a small smile on his face. He looked at his sister's new pet with mild curiosity. He had never raised a pet before and he was sure his sister also hadn't so how were they going to manage an entire other being in the apartment?
Su Rui placed his peace offering before the bunny. The bunny's ears twitched and he glanced over at Su Qingtang and as if he was afraid she would snatch his food. The little bunny took the carrot from Su Rui before turning it's back towards her.
Insolent human, this is how you respect a bunny! Take notes or I'll ignore you from now on. Humph!
Su Qingtang looked over at the piles of carrots she had offered the bunny that were, mind you, still untouched and sighed. Animals are truly very picky creatures. One cant really do much but love them despite it all.
She patted the bunny's head and took it to a little home she had bought for him. She placed him inside and carefully locked him in so he wouldn't run about. She wouldn't want to come home and find a dead bunny after all.
"Bye Ping-Pong."
The bunny looked at her in disdain before turning away.
-------------------
The ride for school was a silent one with Su Qingtang scrolling through her phone looking for toys and cute stuff for her new friend. Su Rui played games on his phone and no one really spoke.
The original Su Qingtang was a very lowkey girl. She didn't like fusses very much and would rather walking that getting driven to school. The Su Qingtang of now appreciated this part of her personality but refused to follow suit.
Do I look like a masochist? Going out into that awful cold weather when heaters in cars were already invented? Damn, imagine that!
She sipped her chocolate mocha tea in resolution. No way!
She exited the car politely thanked the driver before quickly heading into school. She waved bye to Su Rui before jogging up to Wen Xingshen who was a few steps earlier than her.
"Hey." She greated.
"Hey." He took the headphones on his head off. For him to be able to hear her even though she wasn't speaking very loud, it was quite obvious it wasn't on. Wen Xingshen didn't seem like the guy to follow fashion, so it was maybe some sort of avoidance technique. Su Qingtang theorized. Why else would one wear earphones that aren't playing but to have a valid excuse to be left alone? "I've got you a gift."
"You didn't have to." Su Qingtang smiled. She didn't place much emphasis on her birthday, it was enough that he sent his best wishes the day before. She couldn't even remember her own birthday. Why place so much weight on a single day.
Wen Xingshen smiled sheepishly and rummaged through his bag for his gift and handing it to her.
Su Qingtang looked at the gift and felt her heart warm. It was a picture of people from the crew. It was a wonder about who took the picture but it was a warm picture.
Su Qingtang focusing on her script and talking animatedly with Wen Xingshen. Bai Ziwen patting her head while talking to the stylist. Qiao Bifan laughing at something. The crew smiling happily. The camera man pointing at something while gesturing. It was a real genuine representation of the comradery the crew had formed after being together and working together.
"This is amazing." Su Qingtang exclaimed animatedly. Although she couldn't remember the exact moment this photo was taken, the picture was a treasure.
A lot of times in the film industry, people you meet during filming will never cross paths with you ever again. The world, while it is a small place, is a very large place. This paradox becomes more real the more people you meet in life.
Su Qingtang smiled happily but she couldn't seem to shake the feeling that something was wrong.
