The system was not surprised with Su Qingtang's decision to choose to gain a singing skill. It was actually a pretty practical choice in all honesty as she had already decided upon making money through joining a singing competition.
Su Qingtang quickly got ready for the second day of school and leaves about a half an hour earlier than usual. She buys a cup of her favorite chocolate milk tea and decides to walk to school instead of taking a taxi like usual. School was not really that far anyway, and exercise was crucial for people in the entertainment industry.
Her footsteps patter lightly against the streets as a steady flow of people passed by. It wasn't as hectic as normal the mornings rushes but it was pretty hectic in itself as people passed up and down the streets.
To avoid the crowds and the possibility of bumping into someone with her scalding hot tea, Su Qingtang darts into an shortcut alley that would directly lead her to school if she would ignore the glaring possibility of danger in the secluded path. Su Qingtang wasn't a fearful person and with the teleportation free pass card she got earlier she decided to take a chance.
The system eats its melon seeds as it watches everything unfold with undivided attention. It wasn't everyday there was a chance of something exiting happening. The system lived for drama and dog blood fights. It was the only thing that could fascinate it.
Out of the corer of her eyes Su Qingtang notices a something behind her but she doesn't turn around until she passes a building before she ducks behind it at peaks out. She made it look as if she hadn't noticed anything amiss and had already left.
A few ruffian-looking sturdy well-built men versus a tiny girl. They seemed to be having a disagreement and the ruffian men soon surround the girl…. The girl….
Wasn't that the female lead?
"System, what's going on over there?" Su Qingtang enquired as she watched.
"The female lead was schemed against by someone who hired thugs to teach her a lesson." The system yawned inwardly, these tricks were too obvious okay? Where was the drama! "This was where the female lead is supposed to meet the male lead."
The male lead. Lu Yexuan. Su Qingtang looked around but saw no one. She suddenly had an ominous premonition but quickly shakes it off.
The female lead, a cute girl who had just started high school stared up at the men with fear as she backed away warily. Her eyes darting as she looked for a way to escape. Despair shines in her eyes as she sees no one who can help her out of her predicament.
"You have no where to run, little girl." One laughs, his awful raucous laughter echoing through the secluded alley adding a with a hint of perverted happiness. The system shook its head. That line was so cliched that the system could feel its interest dissipating. It seemed nothing worthwhile would happen.
Another thug, this one with a nasty scar running from his eyebrow to the top of his cheek bone, looks at the female lead with a lustful gaze. His appearance disgusted Su Qingtang to the very bones, she suddenly felt pity for the female lead. The object of his gaze. "She looks like a virgin. Brothers, it seems like we struck the jackpot following Miss Qin's orders."
Su Qingtang marveled as she watched a plot hole take root right before her eyes. How stupid where these thugs? Selling out their employers without even realizing their mistake. No real thug would reveal their money bag casually but somehow before the female lead their professional ethics fly out the window.
"That, host, is the work of the protagonist halo." The system smirked arrogantly; it was happy after it realized it knew something the host didn't. "Because you followed the route of being the cannon fodder in your last life you never had to witness the devastating effect of it firsthand. The authors of brain-dead novels always make it so that their protagonists will never suffer too much of a loss. They give the protagonist infinite buffs which make giant plot holes for the world consciousness to fix. The existence of the protagonist is made to defy the odds and shine. Most times in order to make sure the protagonists get their way many innocent bystanders suffer."
Protagonist halo? Su Qingtang's eyes narrow slightly. She suddenly felt as if she stumbled on something extremely important but she couldn't quite tell what exactly it was so leaves the thought at the back of her mind.
Su Qingtang pats her chest and sighs. Brain dead novel logic truly never ceases to amaze her. She suddenly feels a trace of pity for the people in this world. Their life was too hard.
"Host, why don't you go over and lend a helping hand to the female lead to facilitate good relations?" The system suggested. It felt that the female lead could make a good ally.
Su Qingtang shook her head. "I disagree. Helping someone who is deliberately seeking death is not my forte. There are so many alleys for the female lead to walk in. Why does she choose a secluded one when she knows she has no way of defending herself? Even if she wat suspecting an ambush the fact that she had offended that-Qin-person should have been a warning sing for her to raise her vigilance. Stupidity is contagious I better stay away from her and her poisonous protagonist aura."
No sooner than the words leave her mouth she looses grip of her milk tea which hits unto a metal contained with a bang. Immediately the hooligans turn around.
A moment of silence passes as the two groups stare at each other in stunned silence.
Su Qingtang wanted to curse. Who had she offended to deserve such bad luck. She could feel the ill will of the entire world resting on her shoulders.
Damn it!
