The first scene went very well.
It was a simple scene, with Qin Shining and Yan Man hanging out before Yan Man leaves to go out with Lin Yanfeng. It was a simple scene which was supposed to gently mislead the audience into believing that the cause behind Shining disrupting the protagonist's relationship was from her jealousy and fear of losing her best friend. It was a gradual manipulation in which the audience is wrapped into misunderstanding the 'villain' which highlighted the great writing behind the screens. This was one of the reasons Qiao Bifan rose so high after his debut into the film greats.
With the warm Bai Ziwen it was pretty easy for Su Qingtang to pretend that they were best friends who had known each other for their entire lives.
The next scene didn't need her, so she sat by the side and busied herself with talking to the system while watching the acting and the behind the scenes workings in the film.
The system cracked its melon seeds out of boredom. How it got said melon seeds, however, would forever be a mystery in Su Qingtang's mind. "Where is the characteristic cat fight and opposition newbies are supposed to face in the film industry? I was looking for drama but nothing out of ordinary has happened. I never expected it to be so boring here."
Su Qingtang rolled her eyes playfully and made a jab at the system. "What goes on in that pile of scrap you call a brain? Opposition only happens further up in the industry where good resources are scarce and people who get the good resources become arrogant and start stepping on others to keep their own inflated pride afloat. Out here in the outer rings of the entertainment industry people are generally more supportive and kinder because everyone is at the starting point and no one has gained fame to boost their egos into the clouds..."
Su Qingtang paused her educating the system to pick up her phone. She looked at the name in surprise as she answered. "Mom?"
Jian Shu's calm and melodious voice floats out of the phone. It was like a timely rain soothing Su Qingtang. "Qing-er, have you forgotten to come by so we can go shopping before school?"
School?
At the mention of school Su Qingtang's brain went completely and utterly blank. She could already feel a headache coming on. Damn, isn't school tomorrow?
Black lines floated above her head as she visibly deflated. I have to go through school again? System come out! I promise I won't beat you to death.
"Ahhh... It seems I forgot about school." Su Qingtang groaned as she patted her cheeks. How could I forget something so important.
Jian Shu chuckles lightly, before consoling her, "Your brother did too. He is always so caught up in his gaming that he doesn't even notice the days going by. I worry about him. Why wasn't he born a sensible daughter like you, ah? Sigh. How about I pick you up later today? We don't really need to buy anything. We can just hang out at that café by your house that you really like."
Su Qingtang hummed in reply before hanging up.
She rubbed her forehead with a tired expression. School matters were the last thing on her mind. She was so caught up with excitement about filming that she simply forgot that she had to go to school. Who could blame her though? She had a no good system who didn't help at all.
The system that was suddenly shot from behind: "…"
On the other side of the city a man leaned back in his chair and listened to someone speak on the phone a bit of helplessness flashing in his dark eyes. Warm sun rays landed on Lu Yexuan's beautifully sculpted face as he looked out the window at the bustling city from his office high up in his building. He tapped a rhythm on his desk and leaned back in his chair in languid ease. It was a very beautiful sight to behold but it was disrupted by the nagging coming from his phone.
"All you do is work. When do you ever spare time out to talk to your beloved mother?" Mother Lu badgered, as she worried and fussed over her eldest son.
Lu Yexuan rubbed the space between his eyebrows before running his hand through his thick black hair. "Please get to the point mom. I'm quite busy at the moment. I don't have much time to talk."
"I just called a few minutes ago and here you are telling me your too busy to talk to me. Why don't you spend some time with your mom, hmm? Meet me at that nice café. The one by little Qing-er's apartment." Lu Yexuan didn't even get the chance to decline when Mother Lu hung up.
Suspicion floated on his face for a split second as he put down his phone. Why does Mother want to meet up all the way over there? But his attention is dragged away to Kim Suho who noiselessly entered the room.
"We've got an update from our sources about Young Miss Su." Kim Suho went straight to the point. He understood his boss' temper well. "She was seen entering Qiao Bifan's set for his new movie 'Shades of the Night'. She's playing the role of Qin Shining the movies villain."
The entertainment industry? Lu Yexuan's brows slightly furrow. Since when did she have an interest in the entertainment industry? It seemed he didn't quite know this fiancé his parents had chosen for him.
"Clear my schedule for this afternoon."
Kim Suho was used to his boss' unpredictable personality and didn't even ask. He silently shouldered the stress that had fallen from the sky and landed on his lap. It was his bad luck to have such a willful boss. He nodded and quickly left the room.
Lu Yexuan glanced at the piles of unsigned proposals as he grabbed his jacket and walked to his elevator with said jacket slung over his shoulder. Totally unaware of the devious plot the two women had plotted against their children.
