"The sky is starting to change colors..it's about that time again huh..?" A man said as his cloaked flowed gently with the wind.
This man wore a mask with a huge cut at the left eye of the mask and his hair was long and black, and was put in a ponytail. He always carried his sword with him no matter where he went.
"A Dark Lord is going to be picked by the God of the Phantom Realm...I don't want to miss this chance to see this happening." He walked off and his cloaked flowed even more.
Meanwhile at Yseko Village, there was a young girl who was playing with her friends alongside the water. She laughed and ran as she was playing a game of tag.
"No fair! You're too fast, Yuto!" The girl stopped and panted, visibly tired.
"That's why you shouldn't have skipped training with Lord Uroshi." Yuto said, walking to the girl. He smiled and placed his hand on the girl's head.
"Don't touch me with your sweaty hands, mutt face!" She pouted and blushed.
Yuto just laughed then looked out at the water. The girl did also and her eyes sparkled with curiosity and excitement.
"Misa..I want to become a hero one day..and the best one at that! Defeat all the Dark Lords and then we can have your worlds back!" Yuto said and raised his fist.
"Yeah..! I wanna be a hero also! Take back the worlds they destroyed for their own gain! You hear that Dark Lords! We are coming for you!" Misa yelled.
Yuto and Misa have been friends since they were children. Nothing could break them apart, not even their parents. Their bond was deeper than any other. Yuto was always the one protecting Misa, but Misa wasn't completely weak. She was capable of fighting also, learning techniques from Lord Uroshi himself.
"It's getting a bit dark, we should head home." Yuto said and looked at Misa.
"Okay Yuto," She smiled and looked at him. "Oh, my 16th birthday is coming in a month, do you wanna come over for the party?"
"You know I will. I have never missed your birthday since you were born." He smiled and walked home.
"I know but I was just making sure you weren't secretly changing on me." Misa teased and giggled.
"As always." Yuto placed his hands behind his head and smiled.
Misa smiled back at Yuto and soon split ways to head home. As she got home, she opened the door and walked in then closed the door.
"I'm home!" She called out and took off her shoes.
"Misa!" A little girl ran up to her and laughed.
"Hm?" Misa looked up and gave a blank stare. "T-Tsuki..how did you get in my house..wait..if you are here that means.." She sighed heavily.
"Momma is in the living room!" Tsuki took Misa's hand and took her to the living room.
"Hm?" A woman looked over and smiled. "Yo!"
"Don't 'Yo!' me..how'd you get in the house, wretched witch.." Misa looked a bit annoyed.
The woman sitting on Misa's couch was named Akichi. She was one of the Realm's best heroes and even was able to travel beyond the Realm into other Realms.
"I mean, there is always a key under the mat. Plus I am the one who took care of you on my days off!" Akichi smiled.
"You can't just come here uninvited!" Misa had steam coming from her head then sat down next to her. "Geez do you not know proper manners of someone's home?"
"Yes I do, but at this point we are basically family." Akichi chuckled softly and sat back. "When's your mother coming home?"
"Hard to say...she's been gone since dad was reported dead..I don't remember my father that well..nor did I really know who he was.." Misa looked at the TV. "I wanna be like my mom..a hero...she used to work for a team that's in the Human Realm named Cipher...they managed to defeat a Dark Lord..but not kill her.."
"They are hardcore...I haven't even seen a Dark Lord..." Akichi said as she watched Tsuki play around. "I do miss the old lady around you know..she was always so cheerful..I hope she comes around."
Misa stayed quiet and her hair shadowed her eyes. She didn't want her mom to come back home after abandoning her. A few minutes of silence passed and Akichi finally spoke up.
"How's Lord Uroshi? The ol' geezer isn't giving you any trouble right?" Akichi smiled.
"Mmm..not from I remember..he is extra senile though." Misa smiled.
"That's as much as I'd expect from him. He isn't nowhere near the level of Lady Kazumi, but his Forbidden Techniques are of the level of Cipher himself." Akichi leaned forward. "His most useful Forbidden Technique is the-"
"10th Seal Technique: Immolation. The technique that was able to seal a Dark Lord's power for good..at the price of the user's lifespan..Lord Uroshi had to go into hypersleep to expand his own lifespan because if he were to use it one more time.. he'd die.." Misa said.
Akichi looked at Misa and placed a hand on her hair and ruffled it and smiled.
"You've done your homework..that technique is only used when nothing else will work.. Would you look at the time, it's about time to go." Akichi stood up and stretched. "I'll see you on your birthday."
"Okay then," Misa got up and walked Akichi and Tsuki to the door. "Be safe getting home!"
"We will!" They walked off and waved at Misa.
Misa closed the door and locked it and sighed. She went to go to take a bath and change into her night clothes then went to sleep in her room.
As she was sleep, she woke up in some strange world in her dream. She walked around and saw a mirror and looked in it. The image on the mirror showed her, but in a different form.
"What the.." Misa touched her cheek and looked at herself. "I look like this?"
"Of course you do.." A voice said. "This side of you..is your true self..A Dark Lord.."
"Dark Lord..? I don't wanna be a Dark Lord! I want to be a hero! Save the worlds that were destroyed!" Misa said.
"This is your fate...You were unfortunate enough to be chosen..but who's to say you can't be a hero as a Dark Lord..?" The voice said.
"Don't play with me..besides this is only a dream..the God of this Realm doesn't choose a Dark Lord until a month later when the sky is red." Misa said.
"You're right but..what will you do if you become a Dark Lord?" The voice said.
"Probably...move away from this Realm..I don't want people to hate me...everyone on this Realm is mostly a hero..and those who were chosen a Dark Lord..were driven out this Realm..and it's not like everyone knows this..this God who choses Dark Lords love to see war..so they create Dark Lords...to make war happen.." Misa looked in the mirror again.
"I see..." The voice faded.
Misa woke up and sat up quickly. She looked around and looked at her clock.
"Ah crap! I'm late for Lady Kazumi's class!" She got out of bed quickly and got ready fast then sprinted out the door.
Misa ran like lightning to get to her class on time. She looked at the sky and noticed the sky becoming more and more red by the second. After a few minutes, Misa made it to Lady Kazumi's class in the niche of time.
"You're lucky, I would've marked your absent." Kazumi said.
Kazumi was a young woman. She wore a white kimono and had beautiful white hair. She was a master in the ice element. She was named the Frost Empress back when she was younger.
"Sorry, Lady Kazumi.." Misa bowed.
She walked in and Kazumi followed. Kazumi's class was basically about using the ice element at a beginner level. The level they were learning only showed them how to make a simple snowball out of thin air. An hour later, class was dismissed.
"That dream...was completely strange..." Misa said.
A month later, Misa was getting ready for her birthday that was happening tomorrow. She was excited for Yuto, Akichi, and Tsuki to come. After setting up, she went off to sleep in her room.
Once again she had the same dream she had a month ago.
"We meet again, Misa.." the voice said.
"Who are you?" Misa looked in the mirror again.
"I am you.." a person appeared behind Misa and looked at her.
Misa turned around and froze. The girl standing before her..was the same girl Misa saw in the mirror. Misa was shocked and terrified at the same time.
"When you wake up...you will have a marking on your hand.." The girl said, fading away.
Misa sat up fast and yelled a bit. She panted and gulped and wiped away the sweat then looked at the back of her hand and her heart sank. On her left hand, was the Dark Lord symbol. This is how her legacy begins.
