----------
Janda: "Ray... I've known you for a very, very long time, but do you remember anything...?"
----------
I was confused. What is he talking about? Weren't we always together throughout uni? We chatted, played games, studied and had fun together! What was he on about? I'd known him way before uni. For example...
"Huh? Wait. What?" I said. I tried to dig deeper into my memories and recall the time before uni; I couldn't. It was blurred, or rather, blocked. Like before, I could recall fragments of it, bits and pieces but nothing much.
----------
Janda: "You can't remember clearly, right?"
----------
I continued to listen in confusion.
----------
Janda: "I have to keep this message short... so when we meet again, I will tell you everything - everything about your past, our past."
----------
After a brief pause, Janda's voice message continued.
----------
Janda: "Keep an eye out, observe your surroundings, and most importantly, protect those around you with everything you got."
----------
My eyes started to burn a little. I felt like it was warming up and tears started to overflow. I closed my eyes.
"I can't let those eyedrops fall out... it's the last time he left for me," I said silently as I hiccupped. "I..."
----------
"We will definitely meet again, Ray."
----------
"We will definitely meet again, Janda."
I muttered those words at the same time as the voice recording came to its end.
Will we ever meet again?

I felt my body shaking.
"Ray! Ray!!!" I heard Sam scream.
Gradually, my senses came back to me. The loud, but annoying, siren woke me up instantly.
"Ray! Hey! Get up! We need to leave!" Sam said continuing to shaking me.
"Ugh..." I muttered. My eyes were burning but it didn't matter for now. I grabbed on to our bags and I scanned the area.
The walls have changed. Instead of the blank walls of the room, we walked into earlier, it was now filled with weapons, or more precisely, guns. They ranged from long rifles to handguns.
While Sam packed the remaining items into the bags, I went ahead and reached out grabbing a pistol that had a silencer attached to it. In the drawers, there were flash and smoke grenades. I grabbed a couple of them and some magazines for the pistol.
Swiftly, I placed two into my pockets and the rest into my bag.
Sam jumped at the guns and grabbed another pistol.
"Hey! Sam!" I shouted. "What are you doing?!"
"It's for self-protection," he said while inspecting the gun. He pulled the pistol's slide and checked the internals for bullets.
"What the heck are you doing?" I shouted.
"Just! Let's go!" Sam replied running towards me with the pistol and some magazines.
I placed my gun into my pocket and we head off.
* * *
We ran and ran and ran, but we didn't see anyone. The siren continued to sound in the background with only me and Sam running down the corridors. We quickly yet sneakily checked the corners but each time, no one was there. I was beginning to doubt if this was a fake siren or not.
"Wait," I said extending my arm out back to Sam. "Let's check this corner too."
"Let's just go!" Sam said running ahead into the distance but suddenly, he stopped.
"Sam?" I stepped towards Sam and asked again, "What's wrong-"
But the blood seeped out from the corner and surrounded Sam's shoes.
"What the... hell happened?" I muttered as I slowly pulled out my pistol.
There was bodies scattered everywhere. No one was left alive.
"Soldiers...?" Sam said.
"Soldiers... the ones who were looking for us? It can't be, right?"
"There are other intruders besides us," Sam confidently stated. He walked towards the bodies. "One... two..." Sam counted the footsteps.
It was very faint but the blood, that had dried up, formed footsteps.
"There's two, no, three unique footsteps," Sam confirmed.
"This... what could have happened here?" I asked. My hands trembled. Even though I fought the scientists earlier on, compared to this, that was nothing. This was on another level; it was gruesome.
The siren continued to ring in my ears but in the distance, I could hear some faint voices approaching. "Hey Sam! Let's go-"
"Lieutenant!"
"Sir!!!"
The faint voices became more apparent and I ran towards Sam, dragged him back and launched him back into the corridor around the corner. He fell face first on to the ground and dropped his gun.
*Thump* *Clack* *Clack*
I ducked down and hid behind the bodies; the place fell silent. Momentarily, a few soldiers arrived as I peeked through the gaps.
"Sir!"
The soldiers held on to the Lieutenant and shook him.
"It's not good, he's deeply wounded."
"Go check on the others, see if any of them are alive."
I ducked down and lied flat on the ground. "They're approaching!" I said to myself quietly.
Quickly, I glanced at Sam's direction to see if he was alright.
Sam poked his head around the corner looking at the soldiers and then, he shifted his gaze my bag lying on the floor in the bloodbath.
My bag was still within arms reach and I started to unzip it. I grabbed the first grenade. It was a flash grenade.
"Not this one!" I mumbled quietly and placed it on the floor.
*Step* *Step* *Step*
The soldiers were pushing forward towards us rapidly.
"Come on!" I said rattling my hand inside my bag.
I grabbed on to another grenade. "Please! Smoke please!" I pulled it out and it was what I needed, the smoke grenade.
"Hey! Ugh! What the hell!" the soldiers complained. "What's happened here!? Why's there so much blood!!!"
I quickly retracted my hands.
"Hey! There's a bag in the distance!"
"Shit! They're getting closer!" I said to myself. Slowly, I pulled the ring off the smoke grenade making sure no noise was made. I dragged my hand back and within a fraction of a second, I chucked the grenade out towards them.
It landed and rolled towards the dead bodies.
