Previously on Avenging Angels
It's laundry day and the girls wake up as early as five am to no one's liking. Rose happens to go to a room which she never knew was Christian's. Will she let what happened in his room to occur again?
TWELVE
It was already breakfast time and Sarah, Francesca and Helen went with the three old hags to prepare breakfast, leaving just me, Chole, Georgia and Violet outside to finish hanging the curtains.
I raised the curtain to hang in the rope but it gets caught in the iron bars on the fence.
"Chole, get the curtain" I hissed but I got no response.
"Chloe," I tried again but no one answered.
If I let go of this end to get the other end, it's just going to fall on the floor and get stained again.
Ugh!!!
"Chloe!" I yelled but yet nobody answered even though my voice echoed down the courtyard.
God. Why me?!
I was about to give up but then I felt the other end of the curtain stuck on the iron bar being raised as it was hung on the rope.
"Finally. Where have you bee-" I paused in mid statement as I discovered who actually helped me.
"You" I breathed out in slight surprise.
"Me" he smiled as his brown eyes shined under the sunlight.
"What are you doing here? Thanks, by the way" I moved down to get the other curtain.
"I was getting stuffed up standing in one position so I decided to get a change of scenery" he followed me to grab the other end of the curtain.
"I bet your job is much easier than mine" I spat in annoyance and rolled my eyes.
"You are right about that" he shrugged.
"Hey!" I whined.
"What? You stated it. I merely agreed with you" he laughed and I found myself chuckling along with him.
We raised the curtain and hung it on the rope and we moved to get the other one.
Once we were done, I took the huge bowl and went to get the others as he kept on following me.
"Don't step on that!" I yelled but it was already too late. He stepped on the hose and it reacted by splashing water at different directions.
I ran here and there to avoid the water but to no avail, I still got wet anyway.
I scoffed and then saw Travis smiling at me.
"What's so funny? Would you get the hose or not?" I hissed, annoyed that I am all wet and not to mention that the weather is definitely not warm!
"Um, I would prefer not" he smirked as water splashed all over him, making him drained from head to toe and his toned torso became visible from the white shirt he wore inside his suit.
"Idiot!" I scorned and he burst out laughing
I stepped forward to get the hose but as soon as I laid my hands on it, mountain of water splashed on my face making me fall on the ground from the pressure.
"Are you okay?" He came to help me up and I took his hand with a scowl evident on my face but as soon as I put my feet on the ground, I lost balance and fell backwards making him fall on top of me.
"Awesome!" I breathed out as I pushed him off me while his entire figure started to shake from unkempt laughter.
I finally stood up after multiple attempts of failure and Travis, the knucklehead, laughing at me.
He raised his hand indicating for me to help him up but I have learnt my lesson.
"Go to hell" I scoffed and moved towards the hose one more time but this time, more stealthily.
I observed as it moved from the floor to the left then right then up. It followed this same pattern twice, I grabbed a stone that will be big enough to cover the mouth of the hose then I waited, I could feel his eyes boring into me from behind but I didn't pay him any attention as my eyes were stuck solely on the hose.
Up,
Left,
Now!
I used the last ounce of energy I had to swing the stone and it landed at the exact place I wanted it to, I quickly rushed to turnoff the tap and jumped at my victory before I fell to the floor from exhaustion.
My clothes were already dirty anyway so I didn't mind the wetness getting onto me.
I looked up at the blue stained sky as the early morning breeze blowing gently and closed my eyes.
Today seemed extra hard.
I then felt something obstructing the sun which made me open my eyes.
"Need a hand?" Travis brought out his hand for me to take I didn't move as I was doubtful.
"And what makes me sure that I won't land on my butt again?" I asked sweetly.
"Trust me. This time is going to be different" He smiled softly.
After much contemplation, I grabbed his hand and he hoisted me up and stuck me to his chest.
"That was a great shower, if I may say" He smiled and when I snorted, it became a whole hearted laugh.
My lips tugged up as I resisted the urge to crack but I couldn't hold it anymore and I began to laugh along with him.
Soon after, we began laughing like two idiots under the sun, each time we attempted to stop, we just laugh even harder.
The most funny thing was we didn't even know what was funny.
I couldn't stop even though my belly was starting to hurt. There is something about his laugh that you just have to laugh along.
Then we heard a screech.
"What on earth?!"
We turned around to see Violet's and Chloe's eyes wide open at the scene in front of them.
"This is what happens when you two ditch me" I said and laughed when Travis cracked a smile.
"Miss Helda called us. It was just for a few minutes and this...." Violet used her hands to gesture with her mouth open.
I looked around the backyard and honestly, it looked like a farm that had cow dung on it and a tractor ran all over the cow dung.
Yeah, not a pleasant sight.
I laughed out loud then slapped Travis's chest for making me laugh and we doubled down as a pit of laughter erupted from our chest.
Violet gave us a look of disbelief and Chloe facepalmed.
After a series of more laughter and Violet scolding us for our childish behaviour, we were in the maids lounge, drying ourselves but I still couldn't wipe the ghost of smile on my lips.
"I can't believe it. What am I going to say to Miss Helda?!" Violet cried out, pacing around the room and I rolled my eyes at her drama.
"I will take care of that old hag" I said and Travis snorted while cleaning his hair with the towel.
"Rose" Violet gave me a warning look.
"Look, none of this would have happened if you guys didn't leave me all by myself. So it's technically your fault, not mine" she opened her mouth to retaliate but closed it back.
"Why do I even bother?" she muttered.
"Yes, I will be right there." Travis said through his earpiece.
"Duty call. I gatta go, see you later, Vi" he dropped the towel.
"Stay out of trouble, Thorne" he used his index finger to poke my nose and I opened my mouth to bite it but he dodged in time and left with a smirk.
I looked at Violet and she raised her brows at me.
"What?" I shrugged and left to my room to get changed into my other uniform and out of this wet one.
"Miss Helda is waiting for us in the living room" Violet said from behind my door and I rolled my eyes.
"Yes, ma'am" I snorted.
I buttoned up and left to the living room where the rest of the girls were lined up in front of Miss Helda and her sidekicks.
"Rosaline" she spat.
"Ma'am" I inwardly rolled my eyes.
"I have never seen a girl like you before. I just called them for a minute and you made a mess out of the backyard! You have great luck Madam has already left for work. If not, you would have been sorry for what you did!" she yelled at me.
I opened my mouth to say something but Mrs Hatchman shook her head, indicating for me not to do it.
I sighed and rubbed my temples.
"I am sorry, Ma'am. It was just an honest mistake, I promise it won't happen again"
Miss Helda raised her eyebrows as she was obviously shocked at my response.
"It sure won't" She said and lifted her head high.
"I want you guys to make a list of groceries as we will be going to the supermarket later. Rosaline, this is a list of new flowers Madam wants to be planted in the garden" she handed me a paper and I went through it.
"Tomorrow, an important guest is going to be in this castle and madam ordered each and every one of you to prepare extra carefully for tomorrow. You will clean and mop the entire house whether or not you are in the cleaning duty" She finished and stepped out of the room.
I grabbed Mrs Hatchman and whispered "you owe me one, old lady" in her ear.
She slapped my hand away and smirked as she said
"Get to work, young lady" before she left the room too.
"Rose, please get the extra mops from the stall" Violet said and I went to the kitchen to get the mops.
I opened the stall and used a bucket to hold the door because somehow, it can only be opened from outside.
I searched for the mops and found it in a corner but I then heard a screeching sound and turned around to see the door closing and a smirking Christian locked inside with me.
The first thing I did was to hit his head.
Hard.
"Ouch! What was that for?" He rubbed the spot.
"You just locked us in here, dimwit" I glared at him but I am sure he couldn't see me due to the dim light in here.
"What are you talking about? I didn't lock us in here" he moved his hand to open the door but it didn't budge.
"Of course you did because you are an idiot" I facepalmed.
Christian swore under his breath as he realised his mistake.
"What do we do now?" He asked.
"Oh, I don't know! Aren't you the smart one who locked us in here in the first place?" I rubbed my temples.
"How was I supposed to know that the door couldn't be opened from the inside?!" He defended himself and I rolled my eyes.
"Oh, please!" I groaned.
"Why do you always have to annoy me?" I dragged my hair as I was going crazy here.
"Oh, darling. I feel the same way" he said sweetly.
We stayed silent for some seconds as he leaned on the door and I sat on the floor, exhausted at the situation we are in.
"Should we scream for help?" He suggested and I glared at him.
"Yeah, because we live in tiny hut and not a freaking mansion with perfectly soundproofed walls!" I said sarcastically.
"Then what do you suggest we do? Huh? Just sit here until someone finally acknowledge our absence and start looking for us?" He screamed, obviously annoyed.
"Don't yell at me!! None of this would have happened if you weren't foolish enough to lock us in here" I stood up and faced him.
"How was I supposed to-"
"Oh, please save the bullshit" I cut him off and he rolled his eyes in annoyance.
I sat down back with a huff.
"Well, this may be a great opportunity. We need to talk, about earlier-" he said after a few moments of silence.
"We will forget about it, I have, so you will. I am sure it's because you just woke up and your hormones were all over the place, I get like that sometimes. It's no big deal" I said and raised an eye to see him standing in front of me.
"And what makes you think I am going to forget?" He smirked and put his hands in his pockets.
"Well, I have forgotten so I don't care if you do or not" I stood up.
"Are you sure you have forgotten it?" He stepped forward, evading my private space which made me move back slowly.
"Yes" I said in a steady tone despite my heart racing from the close proximity between us.
"Everything?" He asked and I hit my back against the wood.
"Why don't I test you?" He used his fingers to trail up my arm.
"Stay away from me" I hissed but he merely smirked.
He used one hand to grab my waist and the other went under my dress, rubbing my thigh.
I took a shaky breath but tried to keep my face straight.
"Come on, baby, you know you want me" he whispered in my ears before he nibbled my earlobe and I close my mouth to stop a moan from escaping.
I won't accept defeat.
He brought his face close to mine and leaned against my forehead, our nose touching each other.
"You have no idea what you do to me" he whispered and brought his lips to mine as I closed my eyes in anticipation.
But I didn't feel anything.
I opened an eye to see him staring at me or rather at my shoulder?
"Realized your mistake?" I smirked and he glanced at me before he looked at my shoulder again.
"Rosa, don't move" he warned and I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.
"What are you talking about?" I frowned.
"Don't move," he said again.
I looked at my right to see a huge, hairy black spider sitting there on my shoulder and watching us.
I bit my lips to resist the urge to scream as my knees began to shake from panic.
Have I mentioned I have aracha or ara-freaking something-phobia?!!
"Look into my eyes. It's going to be fine. Just don't move" he assured and I tried to get lost in his eyes and forget about the beast lying on my shoulder.
But how can I when the eight or six eyed thing is looking right at me?!
He moved closer and I shut my eyes tight.
"I don't care what you do, just get the thing off me!"
I heard a thud and when I opened my eyes, I got blinded by the lights coming from the door.
As I adjusted to the light, I see Miss Helda staring at us with a shocked look and then Violet came with the same look on her face.
I inwardly facepalmed and looked at Christian as he looked at me with the same look on our face which says,
We're screwed!
