Chapter 6 - [CHAPTER FOUR]

Previously on Avenging Angels

After dinner and the meeting with Janet, William's fiancee, Rose meets another Bladderwort who continues to annoy her with his outdated lines and his oddly fascinating blue eyes. Will this new encounter pose a threat to Rose?

FOUR

As I walked to the maid quarters, I kept thinking of the blue-eyed dork.

Who is he?

A Bladderwort?

But I don't have any information on him.

I entered my room and jumped in shock when I saw a white-painted face in front of me.

"Did I scare you?" It spoke and I realized it was just Chloe.

"A bit. What's that on your face?" I opened my closet to get my towel and PJs.

"Just a face mask. You want one?" she sat on her bed and unlocked her phone.

"Na, I'm good" I shook my head and walked out of the room to take a shower.

As I closed the door, I heard Chloe's voice saying.

"Be quick, we have to go to the party, remember?"

I sighed.

Yeah, right.

After I took a shower, Chloe and I went into the lounge and I was surprised to see it decorated beautifully and drinks and snacks were on the table, waiting for us.

I grinned at the sight of my favorite thing in the world.

"Girls, come in" Violet waved us over.

We were all discussing the Bladderworts and our thoughts about them and laughing hard at the silly comments of Violet.

Suddenly, they all stood up.

I followed their direction of the sight to see Miss Helda standing by the door with her two sidekicks behind her.

She was putting on a white nightgown, her grey-stained hair getting ready for the curls of tomorrow and the signature frown on her face.

"I see you are having fun" she glanced at every one of us with a sharp glint.

"Miss-" Helen was cut off by a hand raised towards her direction.

"I am not going to be a party pooper so rest assured. Make sure to clean this place first thing tomorrow morning and try your utmost best to keep it down. I am going to get some sleep, unlike you young fellows, my body aches from today's work" she said and was about to leave the room but she turned back and her eyes zeroed at Chloe.

"Chloe, go clean that off your face before you give someone a heart attack, you look like a clown that ran away from the circus" she shook her head in annoyance and left the lounge.

We all burst into laughter at her comment.

And I thought about it.

I was having fun.

I straightened my uniform and removed a stray strand of my hair from my face before entering the kitchen with Chole.

"I haven't seen anyone like him before, his dimples are so cute" Sarah gushed as she put the cookies in the oven.

"Who is she drooling over?" I asked Francesca as I took some carrots from the salad she was mixing.

"I don't know, I think she met another Bladderwort or something" she slapped my hand away but to no avail.

"Uhmm" I hummed and took some more carrots.

"Rose, you are going to have to grate some more" she groaned and slapped my hand again in annoyance.

"Too bad, I have to get to duty" I moved to get my bucket and laughed when she glared at me.

Sarah, Francesca, and Violet are on cooking duty. I, Chloe, and Georgia are on cleaning duty while Helen is on gardening duty for this week, we will take turns like that every week.

I grabbed my bucket and head upstairs with Chloe to clean.

"I will get the veranda," I told her.

"I will start with hallways then after that, we can get to the bathrooms before breakfast," she said.

"Sounds great" I head to the veranda and started mopping.

I looked down at the garden and took in the view.

The zigzag pattern of different colors of flowers and the vivid green color of nature was in full bloom from up here.

I waved back at Helen as she looked up and wave.

After I was done cleaning the huge veranda, I grabbed my bucket but stopped when I felt another presence on the coffee table.

I looked to my right to see Brad reading the newspaper, his dark bushy eyebrows drawn together.

"Good morning sir" I bowed my head and greeted.

He simply nodded.

I was about to leave when he called me back.

"Tell Helda to make me my expresso," he said from behind the newspaper, not bothering to look at me.

"Yes sir" I walked out of the veranda and unclenched my clenched fist.

"Are you done?" Chloe asked.

"Yeah, I just want to meet Miss Helda. I will be back" I said and went downstairs to the kitchen.

"Have you seen Miss Helda?" I asked the girls in the kitchen.

"Ma'am called her and she asked no one to disturb them in the guestroom" Violet answered while slicing the fruits.

Looks like I will have to make the expresso myself, hope I don't spike it mistakenly.

I put water in the kettle to boil and took the French Press. When the kettle began whistling, I poured it over the two tablespoons of coffee grounds. I then gently stirred the water and let the ground seep for around four minutes, I then removed the French Press and poured the expresso into a teacup.

After it was done, I sliced some lemon and put it into the cup.

Just the way he taught us.

I took the cup of coffee to the veranda and dropped it on the table.

And he still didn't look up, I inwardly rolled my eyes and turned to leave.

"Stop," He said and I turned around.

"Who made this?" He asked and put the cup down.

"Me sir, Miss Helda was with Madam and asked no one to disturb so I had to make it myself" I bowed my head lowly and added a nervous tone just for the fun of it.

"I see. Tell Helda you are in charge of my coffee from now on" he said, picked the cup, and stuffed his head in his newspaper.

"Name?" He asked.

"Rosaline sir" I smiled and left when he waved his hand in dismissal.

I went to the kitchen and told Miss Helda what happened.

Her eyebrows shot about a millimeter and her lips formed a thinner line.

"I see" she breathed out and left the kitchen.

"Come on, girls. Get the table ready for breakfast" Mrs. Scott ordered and we quickly got to work.

We stood at the left side of the table as the Bladderworts flocked in.

After they all sat, we began to pour the juice into the glasses and served the food.

I noticed Avalor staring at me intently but I didn't shake or lose ground and continued serving her.

Midway into breakfast, we heard a deep yawn coming from the entrance.

I looked up to see the blue-eyed dork stretching his muscled limbs as he entered the room.

"Good morning all" he greeted lazily, tapped Brad's shoulder, and kissed Avalor's cheek.

He did a bro shake with Grayson and Will and ruffled  Regina's hair despite her whines.

"That was a nice sleep, I hate flights" he groaned as he moved to his seat.

When he finally sat, his eyes zeroed on me and I gave him a smirk.

"What are you waiting for? Come serve me" he kept his eyes on me and returned the smirk.

I moved to his side and began to put fruits, bacon, and eggs on his plate with some toast.

He poured himself some water and when he brought the glass to his mouth to drink, he nonchalantly tilted the glass over, resulting in cold water splashing all over my legs.

I didn't flinch and just stared at him boringly.

He raised his eyebrows, disappointed as he was expecting me to gasp or even jump out of shock.

Too bad, I was watching his every move with precision.

"Oops, my bad!" he smiled at the table and grabbed a napkin to clean my legs.

He stuffed the napkin in his fist and used a finger to touch my legs, raising his hands dangerously underneath my dress, unknowingly to others in the room.

I masked all my feelings and the goosebumps covering my skin due to his touch and gave him a glare spiked with indifference.

His smug face dropped at my lack of response but he quickly smiled and took a slice of fruit.

I left to stand with the other maids and waited for everyone to head to work before we prepared our breakfast.

I ignored all the stares and smirks the blue-eyed dork whose name I still don't have a frigging idea about, sent my way during breakfast.

I dragged my bucket from the hallway upstairs, about to walk down the stairs when a grip prevented me from going further.

I turned around to lock eyes with deep blue eyes that kept drawing me in the more I stared at them.

I haven't felt like this before and hate to admit that I felt ...weak around him.

"Done staring, Puppy?" His smirk grew bigger along with his ego every dying minute.

I snapped out of my daze once again and poked his deadly strong chest to push him away from me.

"Angel?" He smiled at me rather too sweetly.

"Dork?" I retaliated with the same exaggerated sweet tone.

"Nickname change, uh-huh? You haven't greeted me good morning you know. And where's my morning kiss?" he pouted.

I rolled my eyes in response which made him chuckle lightly.

"If you wanted to feel my beautiful legs, you could have done more better than the outdated move you pulled during breakfast" I crossed my arms and gave him a staredown.

"No matter how outdated it was, you seemed very disturbed by my touch, you didn't do a nice job at concealing your feelings" His smirk widened if possible.

I opened my mouth to retaliate but for a very long time, I couldn't say something, anything.

It took me ten years to hide, totally conceal my feelings, and no one, I repeat, no one has ever contradicted my feelings or dared discovered my true feelings but he...he just suddenly came out of nowhere and made me feel strange, albeit nice, but very strange and I hate his frigging beautiful eyes that I can't seem to take my eyes off.

I hate the way I feel around him.

"Earth to Angel" he snapped his fingers and I snapped out of my thoughts.

I realized the close proximity between us and pushed him a wee bit hard.

"If anything, I feel disgusted by your touch, and next time you touch me again, I will make sure to remove that beautiful, blue sockets of yours, grind them, make a freaking milkshake with it, and singlehandedly feed it to you" I smirked after my rant as he choked on his spit from my words.

I grabbed my bucket about to leave.

"Glad to know you find my eyes beautiful, angel. Would say the same about yours" he smirked and turn around, disappearing at the end of the hall.

I grabbed my hair and screamed in annoyance.

I haven't felt like this in a long time.

I must stay away from him.

I heard some noise on my right ear where my blue earring is located and turned on my earpiece.

"Any news about that blabbermouth?" I asked.

"Someone's impatient" she mused and I rolled my eyes at her.

"Just tell me!" I whispered in annoyance and she chuckled lightly.

"Of course, I did"

"Christian Sundew, 24 years old, the only son of Victoria and Paul Sundew, Brad's little sister. Graduated from the University of Cambridge with a first-class in Business Management. He always comes to the Bladderwort Castle for holidays, current status; single" she finished.

I went over the new information.

"Thanks" I finally found something about that dork.

"Since when did you have to thank me? I gotta go to work. Bye, Rosy" I rolled my eyes at her stupid nickname which no matter how much I whine about, she never stops calling me that.

I turned off my earpiece and entered the kitchen where the other girls were already eating.

"How could you not call me?" I dropped my bucket and glared at the other girls.

They shrugged shamelessly and continued eating. I helped myself with some bacon, eggs, and juice, sat down about to dig in when I heard my name.

"Rosaline" I looked up at Miss Helda, my hands in the air with my mouth open.

I sighed and stood up.

"Yes, Ma'am" I answered.

"You are urgently needed," she said abruptly and left the kitchen as I quickly followed her, rolling my eyes all the way.

I managed to match her pace as we marched to the garden.

I spotted Avalor from afar.

Her dark green suit which matched her eyes perfectly, made her look sophisticated and elegant, her brown long hair in a tight bun as she stared at the flowers, deep in thoughts.

She looked up when she heard our footsteps.

I kept my head down but I could feel her eyes boring into me.

"Come" she commanded.

Just one single word but it sounded so intimidating that it would make anyone cower in fear.

Anyone, but for me.

I stepped forward, wanting to get this over with and just go eat my breakfast.

"Did you do this?" She asked, pointing at the grasses I trimmed yesterday.

"Yes Ma'am" I answered with my head still down, rolling my eyes.

She literally just took me away from my food to chitchat about flowers?!!!

A few seconds passed before she spoke again.

"I see" I looked at her through my lashes to see her red-painted lips pursed.

What was so surprising about it? I just helped Helen yesterday because she hasn't been feeling fine for the past week and has been lagging behind in the garden.

"From now on, you will be my personal assistant in the glass room," she said and turned around without any other word spoken.

I just stood, gawking at her retreating figure.

I became a coffee maker and a personal gardener to my arch-enemies in just one day.

They just seem to make things much easier for me.

What a wonderful life I have!
