Chapter 14 - auction

ken was now facing his back towards suman as she was working at the front desk like usual. he was feeling a little upset and a little angry at himself right now .

well it has been 6 days since ken refined the blood qi pills and advanced at an astonishing rate . the reason he was upset because contrary to his expectations, no job for refining pills came to him after the first job .

he was really feeling impotent as he may have offended someone with authority who rejected the notion to pass some jobs to him somehow. but he knew that was unlikely because he had never met any characters like those till now in the guild and much less met any arrogant young master with connections in the guild. so he decided to ask suman the reason as it was embarrassing to ask elder gentle and according to him suman passed the job requests to the alchemists in the first floor straight from the list of tasks decided by the guild authorities for alchemists on the first floor or maybe second floor as these people refer to the ground floor as the first floor .

but the answer which he got from the beautiful lady really made him a little angry at himself. she with a cute smile said that she was refraining to give him tasks because he had told her that he was tired refining pills all day . according to her other alchemists on the first floor dont work usually after an uncommon date of refining pills for a full day at work so she assumed that to be common .

ken couldn't bring himself to scold her after seeing the refreshing smile so he could only helplessly feel angry at himself for choosing the wrong words. from now on he will not use words like these when talking to suman as who could have known that the usual intelligent girl would be a natural airhead.

ken had finally convinced her that he was not tired now and she can send him any tasks within his work hours from now on . it was surprisingly really difficult to talk some sense into her with a polite tone but ken didnt give up and finally succeeded. now he was going out as the work hours would end soon and he had nothing to do now after reaching the peak qi condensation realm today .

so ken went out of the crowded guild and started to roam here and there to search for something interesting. ken really easily saw a little commotion as some older outer disciples that were just some mob characters were discussing something about auction with a normal voice and many others were listening to their conversations with interest .

auction means rare treasures may be sold so of course ken was also curious but he felt helpless as compared to the rich he was still poor despite having 360 points with him . he originally was left with only 10 points but after adding the 100 monthly points allowance and the share from the 25 batches of blood qi pills , his points had increased and he forgot about them . well he didnt have to purchase herbs himself now so naturally points were forgotten as he had no use for them .

but ken knew that the auction house in the outer city held an auction every month and many treasures were seen everytime which were of course rare for outer disciples . in truth those items were worthless in the eyes of inner disciples and the elders . but ken could use rare herbs now as there were many herbs he knew were rare and the ingredients for tier 3 pills . he couldn't buy them but stealing them was a simple matter because he just had to change his robe to one that covered his features well and nobody could see through his cultivation realm anyway .

alchemists were a respected profession especially inside the sect so ken had heard that alchemists had a free pass to enter the auction hall everytime an auction was held . he was only a tier 1 right now so couldn't stay in the VIP room as they were only the privilege for alchemists who were tier 2 or above . well he didnt just roam the city totally blindly and had remember to collect some information too .

so ken headed towards the auction house which was the building next to the administration building and near the alchemy guild . he quickly arrived and saw a huge line possibly waiting to buy a pass . so he directly walked towards the guard who was clearly an older mob outer disciple working to make some quick points for the auction house .

ken didnt even have to ask anything as the mob respectfully made his way at the side to let ken enter inside. reputation really comes in handy at these kind of events so ken didnt act humble and waked straight inside through the gate which had dragon patterns on it .

the inside was much like an orchestra hall from earth but the size was different as the seats for guests were too many to count . ken expected that those normal seats were at least a 100000 in number and the rooms behind the last row were for VIP guests as they were huge , even bigger than his work place at the guild. ken didnt pay much attention to the VIP room as he wouldn't be able to see them anyway as the curtains were down now which meant that they would only open after the auction starts .

ken saw the seats in front which looked more spacious than the back and many normal looking tier 1 alchemists were sitting there . so ken also went there and sat on the first seat at the right corner . he could leave mid way anytime without gaining much attention from here as the exit was in front of the small lane besides him .
