Chapter 5 - Chapter 05

"Baby... don't cry. You really can't have cold food, listen to mommy. Okay?" Isabella tried to comfort her child and wiped the tears from the little girl's face.

"But mommy. Can't I.. just have a... small lick?" the child asked for one last time in her broken voice.

Isabella felt sad for her child. But she couldn't find a way good enough to deal with her stubborn daughter.

She wished she had a machine with her that could help her feed her child an icecream that was stored at room temperature.

Being helpless on watching her daughter's teary face, Isabella finally decided to find a shop where she can specifically order an unfrozen ice-cream for her daughter. Isabella turned her head around to check for a while. But all she found in the park where all retail shops with products that were prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator.

"Baby. Listen to mommy. I checked around. But there are no such shops here woth unfrozen icecream. So, You can't have an ice-cream now" Isabella tried explaining the situation to her daughter.

"But can't we have a normal one?" the child still had her heart lingering towards the cold ice cream.

Her mother never allowed her to have cold foods and drinks. Even during hot summer, her mother would choose other alternatives like mint juice and coconut water instead of cold water.

But now she came out for the first time with her mother to have fun but all her hopes were shattered immediately.

'What's the use of riding on all those bulky machines when I can't even have a little ice cream?' the child sulked with a pitiful look looking at the rides.

"No..baby...they'll be cold. I would have let you eat some if I could find a shop that sells uncooled stuff. But see there's no such shop here right?"

"Then, can we eat some ice-cream if you find a proper shop?"

"Sure. Now, let's go and eat something else"

"Mommy, how about some cotton candy?"

"No. Let's eat something that's not so sweet" Isabella asked. She then grabbed her daughter's hand and walked towards another food stall.

"Something that's not sweet?!" the child looked up at her mother and asked in a puzzled tone.

'Who eats foods that are not sweet? I hate unsweetened things? Mommy... when will you truly understand your daughter?' the child thought in her mind and shook her head helplessly.

The little girl couldn't express her thoughts openly because her mother never liked sweet foods. That was the very reason why the little girl also never asked for Isabella to buy her foods like candies and chocolates.

If she made such a comment now, the little girl knew her mother would feel sad and guilty for not knowing her well.

The little child realised her mother's intentions behind not letting her eat sweet stuff and why she never cooked such foods to her as well. She knew her mother's afraid of her getting cavities at a young age.

"Baby.. let's go eat some hotdogs?" Isabella looked down at her daughter to see if she agrees with her.

"Hot dogs? Who eats dogs and cats?" the little bun cried out with puppy eyes.

'God. Why is she behaving so odd today? Is something wrong with her ?' thinking that her child was acting weird, Isabella tapped and checked her child thoroughly.

But she found nothing wrong with her child. The temperature seemed normal as well as her pulse.

The little girl found her mother's actions silly and smiled "Mommy, I'm fine. Don't worry" and then her voice turned the softest "It's just that I really want to have something sweet like ice-cream"

Isabella heard the first few sentences clearly but couldn't understand the last one clearly except for the fact that her daughter was still talking about ice-cream.

"Baby. What happened? Why are you acting so strange today? Why are you being so stubborn? huh?" Isabella held the child's shoulders and shook them hard.

Her mind was at the edge of blowing up like a ball of fire.

She never saw her daughter being so hard-headed. Her daughter had a brain that's better than most children of her age and she always minded her behaviour. But today her attitude seemed completely unbelievable.

For the first time, she found her daughter completely annoying.

'I always thought my baby had a cool behaviour. Since when did she become like this?' Isabella was vexed up with her child.

"Mommy. It's not me, you are being strange. You always told me that you'd do anything for my happiness. But you never thought of your happiness. I know you are upset because of that man. I saw it once on TV and I just thought you would also become refreshed by eating something sweet like ice cream and cotton candy" the little girl said in her childish voice truthfully.

"That's why..." the child continued in a low voice but was stopped by her mother's sudden tight hug.

Listening to her daughter's declaration of her inner thoughts, Isabella plopped down on her knees.

She started crying with a flow of tears running down from her eyes. She never thought her child would be so considerate of her emotions. Isabella felt lucky to have a daughter like her.

In contrast, she was getting impatient with her child's behaviour.

'Am I even worthy of being this little angel's mother?' She thought hugging her baby girl.

Isabella's tears wetted the girl's clothes so much that the child felt cold air passing through her clothes.

To make her mother feel at ease, the little one playfully teased "Mommy. You should just stop crying. I don't want to get my dress dirty because of your running nose"

"Haha.." Isabella chuckled. She then stood up and wiped her tears.

'I hope I can find her real father one day. I should see what kind of man gave me this beautiful angel' Isabella thought while smiling at her daughter.
