"Hey!"
Jordan called as he stepped out of his car but he was ignored. He stomped on his feet and walked after the man towards Rhea's home.
'Who does he even think he is'
Jordan thought. Since he saw the man coming out of his car, he had thought he was also a member of the family and as someone who was going to date Rhea, he only wanted to show his respect.
Who knew he would be ignored. Jordan who was not used to being ignored bit his lower lips and kept on walking as fast as he could behind the man. He just could not match his long strides.
Eris, dressed casually in a shirt and jean trousers took long majestic steps towards the house. He was totally clueless and even unaware of the other individual who was constantly throwing a hissing fit behind him. All he had in mind at the moment was getting into the house and seeing his woman.
Just as he raised his hand to knock on the door, the door was pushed open at the same time. A small group of people stood right before him. Ignoring the eyes casting scrutiny gazes at him, his eyes scanned through the group and his gaze fell on her. Only then did his lips tilt up in a handsome heartwarming smile.
Eris opened his mouth to politely regard the family he was meeting but before he could say a word, he was interrupted by this certain overly dressed 'kid'.
"Aunt Laura, I hope I am not too late, did I keep everyone waiting, I am really sorry..." Voiced Jordan.
Hiding an amused smile, Laura nodded negative and answered him.
"Not at all dear, you came right in time. I am really happy to have you in our home once again" She offered him a sincere motherly smile causing Jordan to grin from ear to ear.
"Ah. Many thanks for inviting me. I really feel like I am becoming one of the family soon" Jordan said and Laura laughed.
"What do you mean becoming silly, you are a family already since Rhea met you" She replied.
At the mention of the name Rhea, She became the center of attention for two gazes. One scourging and the other over the moon.
"Rhea, I almost could not recognize you. Do you have to be this beautiful today?" Jordan voiced.
Wait.
What?!.
Jordan dear, you are actually saying the wrong line!
Unaware of the icicle glares being thrown his way, he made an attempt to walk towards Rhea. Just then, a single hand motion stopped him on his track.
"With this much pleasantries, Dinner would become cold" uttered the jealous boyfriend.
Although he had an indifferent and emotionless look, bro... He really had murderous intent dancing within the aura he gave off. Seeing this god knows who dressed in overly formal suit taking a step to his woman, it was very unlikely Eris was going to take it likely.
Claire was about to choke with the laughter she was hiding. Whoa, girlfriend, you have become so arrogant. I am smelling a brewing cat fight here soon if this matter is not settled amicably.
"Mother, please may we go in. Let us not stand for so long. It is not nice for women to strain their backs" Eris opened his mouth once more and spurted.
Seriously now? I never knew you had in it you boss, this comedic spirit. By the way do you mean to speak for the standing women or your woman? I really don't get it. Don't forget to insert 'Taylor's voice' and a glare following after.
Laura was stupefied for a moment. She blinked twice and stared at this godly like guest standing before her but had his eyes and attention elsewhere. It would take a good guess to know where.
He had even called her mother so easily. The sound of it felt homely although it was obviously laced with a small 'you are the old one here, order us in' hint. At the thought of this Laura sighed. It looks like they would be getting tangled in series of drama soon.
Rhea was not even left out. Feeling Eris gaze on her burned her face to the extent that she felt so damn hot and need to be drowned in any river found in Antarctica.
As if Eris piercing gaze was just not enough, her sweet bestfriend continually nudged her elbow as if she was an hopeless maid that would literally push her scared mistress into the arms of the impatient emperor.
"Aunt, that is right, let us get in already" Jordan quickly voiced and Laura nodded immediately. After all entering the house was the right thing to do.
The family walked into the house and Laura helped everyone to the dinning table. Before Eris could blink, the seats closest to his woman had already been taken by her bestfriend and mother. He had no choice but to seat in her opposite direction. It was good as far as he could still watch her.
Laura is an epitome of what you call a reserved woman. Instead of bombarding Eris with so many questions about his name, his family, his work, his age and blah blah blah so many rubbish asked, she only watched him very closely and his tender actions towards her daughter. Love first and everything comes next.
At first appearance, she was pleased with him. A right choice her daughter had made. A matured man and also pleasing to the eyes. She watched him from across the table and just then, a certain thought crossed her mind. Her face twitched as a sense of familiarity coursed through her memory.
Why does he look so much like him ...
She shook her head and smiled. It can't be, she thought. The table was not so silent as small talks were brought up. Everyone contributed and joined in the laughs except one man.
Eris would at intervals place dishes into Rhea plate from across the table. Everyone was so engrossed that they did not notice the show of affection going on underneath their nose. If they had seen all, the single ones might suffer from heartaches.
"Eris, why are you feeding me with so much?" Rhea unintentionally voiced her inner thoughts when he would not stop stuffing her till she felt so full.
It was only after she spoke that every eyes on the table fell on them. Eris was only just retrieving his cutlery that just placed a deboned fish into her place. The scene was so so... leaving so many speechless. A particular someone suddenly watched the tenderness between the couple intently.
What exactly is going on here, what am I missing...? Jordan thought.
Eris stared into his woman's blushing face with a raised brow and said,
"If I do not feed my woman, who else should I? Mother?"
CLANG!
A cutlery suddenly fell, somebody choked on their drink and another had a mysterious nose bleed.
What exactly is this assault you two? Just tell it, what is your teaching to the noble single souls. Who knew dog's food is now served as dessert after dinner in this era.
At the sudden commotion sound, Rhea and Eris turned to look at everyone buy then, everyone was also looking back at them.
Why does it feels like they had just enjoyed a certain show.
Laura cleared her throat in her effort to wipe off her happy smile. She opened her mouth and calmly said.
"Please, let's return to eating our food. We can leave the couple to their own sweet world. It is a normal thing"
Claire bit her lower lips, it took all the patience she had in her not to curse out her dearest Aunt.
How exactly could this be called normal, How can this two sweet souls be flaunting PDA in her face. This was betrayal!
This pushed Claire's emotional buttons and the feeling to have someone to love surged through her. Subconsciously, she raised her head and her searching eyes fell on him.
Carter who had been silent all the while also raised his head at that time and their eyes met at once. Claire quickly averted her gaze.
While Daniel was secretly cheering his elder sister, Jordan sank deeper into his chair as he chewed on his empty fork. He suddenly became full and had no more space to contain real food. His bright face turned ashen and he really sought for an escape route.
Laura's eyes swept through the table falling on everyone. She sighed internally as she took note of every fleeting emotion on their faces. Being someone who have passed through the stage of young affections, she could relate.
From Carter who looked like he was doubting himself and holding back on love to Claire who seems she was ready and unready to give up on the subject matter and down to Jordan. Who's emotions was starting to resemble a fleeting feeling that just passed by and he could not grip.
She sighed again but acted normal like she was not just analysis the poor youths around her. She took nimble bites of her food and waited to see the end of the dinner.
