"What should we eat?"
Robin asked as we looked through the menu. After leaving the Institute, Robin, Emily and I wandered around the campus a little to find a good restaurant to settle on. We strolled around for a while before deciding on this restaurant. There weren't many càfes or restaurants in this area. And to find a good one among them was truly a hard task. As we didn't had much options, we asked around a little and picked out the closest to us, so we can return back early.
Emily and Robin have just arrived before we set out to get some food. They haven't unpacked yet and probably won't be able to if we don't leave early. We have classes tomorrow morning so that might leave them less time to settle down.
So we decided to grab something from nearby to save time. As the restaurant wasn't far away, we agreed to come here later when we have more time on hand and don't have things to get done.
"Let me see. How about a large pizza with coke? Or should we go with pasta? I think we should order hamburgers." Emily suggested.
It's been 10 minutes since we arrived and settled down but Emily still cannot decides what she wants to eat. She seriously lacks brains. She has been suggesting one thing then refuses that and starts again to look for something else, all the while chatting continuously. She sure is a chatter box. How could her mouth not hurt from talking all this while? She was on and on about how the first day at Institute is going to be like.
I looked at Robin for help but he had his hands on his ears and an irritated expression on his face as he stared at Emily like he would do anything to shut her up. And I don't like saying this but I too would do anything to shut her up.
"Are you ready to order?" The waiter asked us, probably tired from either standing or listening to her nonsense or both.
He was standing there ever since we arrived. He must be irritated too from the frown on his face but unfortunately, he can't say anything to the customers. Even though he seemed to be pissed off, he is trying his hardest to contain his emotions. He has been listening to her chatter for now 10 minutes with patience and I am thanking the heavens that they have not thrown us out till now.
Before the waiter loose his last bit of patience, I decided to take things in my own hands and order for three of us.
"We would like to have two hamburgers and one pasta and as for drinks, what about Coke?"
I directed the last question toward the both siblings. They just nod their head in approval. Emily was going to open her mouth but I beat her to it, saving everyone from listening to her ramble again.
"Then 3 large Cokes. Okay, that's all we want."
The waiter left our table after taking our order and told us to wait for a while before the food arrives. To make it less awkward and before Emily can start her chatter about her excitement of the first day again, I decided on making a small talk with Emily.
"Since we have some time on hand before the food arrives, let's get to know each other." I started, grabbing the attention of both the siblings.
"That's a good idea. Since we are going to live together in a dorm room, we should get comfortable with each other." Emily happily said.
"Yup. By the way, you both look alike." I started off easy.
"Yeah, we are. Actually he is older than me by 15 minutes. But he acts as a big brother when in reality we are both of same age. We both are 19 by the way."
"That's because I am older than you." Robin added in flat tone.
"Just by 15 minutes." Emily rebuked.
"15 minutes still makes me older than you." Robin replied in a lazy manner.
"yeah whatever helps you sleep at night." Emily rolled her eyes at Robin before slumping on her seat.
I laughed out loud watching the twins bickering. Both of them diverted their eyes from each other to me but I couldn't stop myself from laughing out loud. I tried controlling my laughter but they are just too cute. They looked like children when they fight. It got extremely hard for me to control myself when they glared at me. I was on verge of falling off the chair when they both narrowed their eyes at me at the same time. They really looked like twins and their reactions were in sync too which made them look more comical. I pinched myself hard to control myself before I can finally calm myself down. I took a deep breath and slumped on my seat. My stomach was aching and I felt too wasted to move.
"Aren't you enjoying this too much?" Robin asked, still having his glare at me.
"Well I really am enjoying this evening, thanks to both of you."
Emily faked a smile toward me and sarcastically said, "Sweety, we are glad that you found us comical and we are happy that you're having fun in our company."
Before we can continue our conversation any further, our order was served, diverting both of the siblings mind from my outburst.
We were sitting inside the booth on opposite sides, facing each other; so it was easy for all three of us to access food. Emily and Robin both took hamburgers, leaving me with pasta. My hunger increased tenth fold just by seeing the pasta and smelling it's fragrance. It looked delicious. Noticing that the both of them have begun eating, I too dived in. As I took a bite of pasta, I felt like I was in heavens. It really was mouth watering.
I decided I will definitely thank Robin for bringing us here. He was the one who decided on this place. There are only handful of shops and places where we can eat around here. When we searched for cafe or restaurant around the institute, we came up with only two choice, both were on opposite roads. Robin was the one who decided on this place.
I didn't felt awkward as we talked a bit as we ate. We paid the bill and decided that it's time to go back to dorm.
I had a great time in their company. We had a nice conversation too which mostly consisted of Emily going on and on about her high school, tomorrow's schedule and her brother – Robin, who got so irritated that he stuffed Emily's mouth with her hamburger. At which Emily threw Robin a deathly glare. She grew so red in the face that I was afraid that she will blow up but thankfully, she only munched down on her hamburger all the while glaring at Robin.
Later when we finished eating and were leaving the table, Emily tripped Robin. Fortunately, he just stumbled and caught himself before falling. It was then Robin's turn to glare at Emily. They really are like Tom and Jerry in real life. To maintain peace, at least till we get back to the safety of the dorm, I stood between them as a wall, even I am a little shorter than both of them, I still tried to be a mediator. Even though both of them are older than me, they behave like 5 year old kids.
"I had fun today, thanks to the both of you." I honestly expressed my gratitude to them with smile gracing my face.
"It's nothing. We had fun too. Right, Emily?" Robin replied heartily.
"yeah, it was so much fun. I thought I would die of boredom in that dorm but I am finally relieved that you are my dorm-mate. It's going to be the best and most memorable four year of my life."
Emily cheered on while holding my hand. She bounced a little when talking about the upcoming years.
"I thought like that too. I was kind of nervous about my new start but I can say that it's going to be best four year of my life. With you being here, I will never feel bored"
I replied with seriousness.
I really was grateful that they were with me otherwise I would have been bored by myself.
Because of them, I couldn't tell when time flew away.We were right outside mine and Emily's dorm room.
Emily and I said our goodbyes to Robin and went in. Robin decided he would leave us alone as he thought that it's time for him to leave and settle down in his room. We agreed as he went straight away with us without settling down in his room. He probably would want to know who he is sharing the room with. And he have to prepare for tomorrow's classes too.
Before parting, we decided on meeting him at the canteen at 7:30 AM to have breakfast before going to the classes.
After Robin left, Emily went inside the room. Being the only person left outside, I too went in and closed the door behind me as I entered.
I don't know what the tomorrow has stored for us but we can only hope for better...
With that in mind, I moved toward the washroom to get change and get ready for bed.
