A day passed.
Jasper's body felt like a truck just ran over him several times. The event with Esther and the group chat talking about a reunion. The reunion is tonight. He wanted to refuse and sleep in but one of his close buddies from middle school, Jacob, said that he'll be there. He usually does some mischief with Jacob back in the days. That typical wild kid from another class who would do crazy things.
And Jasper wanted to reconnect with that crazy ball of fire.
He tried to make sure he didn't dress up too much. The locals here already know his face. Hopefully, he didn't get mobbed or something like that. Three million subscribers are not a low number of after al.
He decided to wear his short-sleeved shirt and ripped jeans. He stuffed his wallet inside his pockets and wore his sneakers. He's going to be late in five minutes but hey, fashionably late is his style.
Plus, the idea of being cramped in a crowd is irritating.
Jasper checked himself in the mirror. Ruffling his own hair to make it look better, but it looks like he just got up from the bed. It came out sexy not gonna lie.
He turned off the lights, locked the door behind him, and make his way to the garage.
——————————
It was a ten minutes drive and he was already bombarded with messages and missed calls from the former class president, Katey, whom he didn't remember. How would he find them if he didn't remember their faces?
Ah, nevermind. They will call out his name when he arrives.
The restaurant is quite homely. The perfect place for a reunion. It's not that crowded, and the food is delicious. He'll just have to go in there, talk with his old classmates, eat, and left. No after-parties.
He repeated those words like a mantra, making sure those words were plastered on his subconscious. He parked his car, turned off the engine, then walked outside. The gentle breeze caused him to automatically exhales. The stars are twinkling above him, and the bustling crowd on the street was oddly satisfying to look at.
A gasp caused his attention to waver. He looked over the source of gasp from the distance. A group of girls obviously stealing glances at Jasper. Was there something on his face?
Jasper ignored it and walked inside the restaurant.
When the bell jiggles, he was greeted by a series of—
"Oh my God it's him!"
"Jasper over here!"
"Jasper!"
"Kyaa!"
Jasper could only give his best, most convincing fake smile as he approached a large group of people in a cramped table. There's an empty seat at the end of the table. Thank God. The food is already there so he could've just dived in.
"Hey," Jasper takes a seat on the chair. "Sorry for being late,"
It was Katey who's sitting near to him, she beamed with a huge grin on her face. "It's fine! we've been waiting for you. Traffic?"
Nope, no traffic.
"Sort of," Jasper answered nonchalantly.
"Jasper, do you still remember me?!"
A guy chimes in from across the table, laughing hysterically with other groups of friends that Jasper didn't remember. Luckily, Jasper skimmed through the profile pictures from his group chat. Not everyone though since some profile pictures were not their faces. More like objects; food pics, anime pics, and so on.
He remembered that chubby guy. His hair was dyed blond now. It was brown back in middle school.
"Dewey,"
Jasper flashed his famous devious smirk that could melt anyone's heart. A couple of girls were flustered by his smirk, and Dewey just laughed even more loudly.
"Haha! a celebrity knows me!"
"Ugh, you're so embarrassing,"
"Hahaha!"
The restaurant seemed more lively since Jasper arrived. Even though Jasper didn't particularly do anything. He basically just sit there, not talking unless someone talked to him, and eat some food that's provided on the table.
They asked Jasper to take pictures with them, and he did. A couple of strangers who watched his stream also wanted to take pictures with him at the restaurant. Jasper agreed because it was not chaotic.
But boy he's wrong.
As time passes, the restaurant 'somehow' became crowded in less than five minutes. It's basically flooded. Jasper saw these newcomers can't stop staring at him, secretly taking pictures, and ordering lots of food in purpose so they can stay longer and look at Jasper eating.
Jasper restlessly bounced one of his legs underneath the table, checking on his watch. Two more hours until the reunion is over.
He started to brainstorming on horrible excuses to leave early. But he feels bad. Plus his buddy Jacob didn't arrive yet. He's from another class but Katey said that some people from other classes would arrive soon.
Sure, that's thrilling.
Jasper can't even check his phone because people won't stop talking to him.
"Yo Jacob!"
Jacob?
Hearing that familiar name, Jasper's attention turned to the front door.
And his eyes went wide.
Not because of Jacob, but the group of people behind him. And that familiar figure inside that group.
That fucking bunny ears.
