Chapter 9 - Chapter 8

Melanie's POV

We both stretched before shifting into our wolves. Justin playfully nipped at my ear, and I bit his back paws. He shook his head before turning and taking off. That dick, he just left me. I pushed all my energy to my feet and caught up very quickly. Quicker than Justin expected. His wolf's eyes went wide for a second before he let out a laugh.

As we neared the border, Justin lost all playfulness and went into Alpha and mate mode. 'Stay behind me. I will not let you get hurt because of me.' He stood in front of me and sniffed the ground. I could tell from here not even needing to sniff the basis that there were rouges. 'They're here. Somewhere in the bushes.'

He nodded and sat back on his hind legs, ready to pounce. But what we didn't expect was one jumping out in human form with a blow dart weapon and shooting it at me. Justin swiped out and sliced open the guy's abdomen while jumping in front of me. Keeping the dart from reaching me, but sadly enough, it went into his side.

'JUSTIN!' He shifted and looked at me. "Melanie, there are three more behind you right now. I feel weak, but it's not poison. You can beat them, you and Maddy can beat them. Go crazy, just leave one alive for us to take back. But other than that baby go crazy, I will love you no matter what."

When he finished, I felt my body change. But this time, I gladly let Maddy take over. My fur changed colors, my stance shifted, and my eyes got darker. Maddy was in control, but she allows me to view what was happening. 'You heard him, Maddy go crazy but leave one alive.'

She yipped and faced the three rouges. The reason I change when Maddy takes over is that Maddy is a magic-infused wolf. She has slight abilities while in full control. That's also why I never wanted her in complete control because she didn't know how to control her magic yet. Maddy can have little control over nature. So, she can control the plants around her. It comes in handy in a forest.

The three wolves in front of her all gave off different emotions. The first one was scared to death, the second was hesitant, and finally, the third one was ready for a fight. 'Maddy knock the first one away but kill the other two. The first one will obey once he sees us kill the other two.' Nodding, she waited for them to make the first move. It looked as if they were talking through their mind link because the second the third one looked towards the second wolf Maddy struck.

Lunging forward, she swiped her paw out, hitting the first one, over to a tree, and she immediately bent the tree around him. Fully immobilizing him.

She then kept her momentum going and launched at the third one. Justin couldn't react and got taken to the ground; she wrapped her teeth around his neck and started biting down. The second one was stunned before he shook his head and ran towards her. 'Maddy behind you!' She let go and rear kicked him before pushing away.

The wolf on the ground slowly got up. You could see the teeth marks along his neck, obviously bleeding profusely. He shook his head and raced towards her at the same time as the other one. Using her magic, she had vines trip up the second one and dodge the first one. His tail was right by her mouth when she turned and chomped down on it.

Effectively swinging him into a tree, breaking his back, but he was not dead yet. Maddy walked over and put him out of his misery. The final wolf had finally gotten out of the vines when he looked up and stared Maddy dead in the eyes.

She just growled. Lowering her body, she waited, she knew he would move first, and she was ready for it.

He waited until he made his final move. Rushing forward, he tried to lunge at our neck, but Maddy was too quick. She lifted her paw and slammed it back down. The ground around the wolf started to shake, throwing him off balance. He stopped and tucked his tail. The number of vines that surrounded him was so thick you could not see past it.

Maddy looked at him and smirked. Before she struck her paw against the ground again and the vines moved towards their target. They wrapped themselves around all of his limbs and then pulled in different directions. She was practically ripping him apart.

Maddy gave me control back, and I rushed over to Justin. Shifting around, I bent down and lifted him. "Are you okay?" He nodded but as soon as I put his weight on his legs, they buckled. "No, you're not. Lean on me. We will make it back." "Alright, but what about that guy?"

He pointed over to the guy still in the tree. His eyes were wide and scared. "I don't think he will hurt us anymore. Correct?" I shouted that last part of him. He whimpered and nodded. "Okay, then good. You can help carry the Alpha here while we walk back. I want to be on alert in case there are more." He nodded once more.

'Maddy, let the kid go.' She huffed a little but removed the tree. He fell to the ground and started coughing. I guess he couldn't breathe too well. "What's your name, kid?" He looked up at me, and I could feel the fear radiating off him. "A-Aaron." I placed out my hand. I wasn't going to be a dick to this kid. He looked like sixteen. He was young, probably got forced to do this. Taking my hand, I pulled him to his feet and pushed him over to Justin. "You help him walk. You can explain why you helped those rouges and why we should let you into our pack." His eyes grew at the mention of joining the pack, as did Justin's. "Wait. What? Join the pack? He tried to kill us!" I gave Justin a look, and he hushed himself. "Yes, Aaron joining our pack. You saw my actual wolf, and we cannot have you knowing this and leaving our sight now." The fear aura increased. "But don't worry, you will fit right in. Now, let's head back, boys." With that, I headed back in the direction of the packhouse, listening to the conversation behind me and focusing on what's in front of me, making sure there was no more danger.

While walking, I decided to scout ahead and make sure there was nothing else in our way. When I did, I found two vehicles and four men outside them waiting, sniffing the air. I found out they were rouges. Deciding to fuck around, I put a scared look on my face and slowly walked out of the woods, making sure I made lots of noise. They all jumped up and drew their weapons, but immediately the front one hid his gun. "Hey there sweetheart, what are you doing out here all by yourself?" Leaning, he whispered something to the other guys, thinking I couldn't hear, but I did.

"Guys, she's the Luna, it's radiating off her. But if she's here, where are the Alpha, Aaron, and the other guys?" Facing back towards me, the man up front took a small step towards me. But a voice rang out that stopped him dead in his tracks. "No! Don't go another step towards her, Darren. She's dangerous. She killed the other two." All heads snapped towards Aaron and Justin. Justin was upright. His lips pulled into a tight line. Aaron looked like he was a lot of pain, and there was a bruise forming below his right eye. I guess Alex said something Justin didn't like. "What do you mean, Aaron? Where are the others?" Aaron looked me dead in the eyes. I shook my head, letting him know he could not tell them about my secret. "They got killed; she was just too fast for them. I guess the adrenaline from seeing her mate hurt put her into hyperdrive." Good boy, he did alright. 'Justin, we are taking their vehicle. I want you to offer them to join the pack, or leave badly wounded, maybe not even at all.' Justin's eyes shifted to me. 'They have heavy-duty weapons; we can't beat them.' I gave him a look. 'Maddy?' His eyes went wide. 'Oh yea, sorry. Fine, I'll offer it, but if any refuse, Maddy must immediately take action.' Nodding, I prepped Maddy.

'Hey Maddy, we are offering these guys to join the pack. If they refuse, Justin said you are allowed to kill them immediately. Meaning, please use your powers, so it's quick, and no one can fight.' Grinning, she pushed herself forward and took control. When we are in human form, my hair and eyes change. My hair gets a white streak going down the middle, and my eyes become a darker blue. Aaron noticed my change, and gasped then jumped and hid behind Justin. Darren and the others turned towards him with confusion written all over their faces. "Gentlemen, my mate has requested I ask you to either join the pack or leave here badly wounded, maybe not even at all. But the choice is yours." The group all looked at each other for a solid minute before one spoke up. "Why the hell would we listen to you. We have the guns, and you are barely walking, and you have a pathetic mate over here, and Aaron, who I don't think will go against us either." Justin looked over at us and nodded. "Okay, then, anyone else agrees with him?" Three others nodded and moved over with him, leaving Darren with us. "Alright, well, sorry boys, you won't be leaving." Maddy closed her eyes and breathed out. When she opened them again, vines were ripping their way up from the ground and securing themselves around the rouge's limbs once again. Maddy slowly started growling, and they started pulling. Finally, she let out a sharp bark, and they got torn apart. "Wh-what the fuck?" Darren backed away from me slowly, and he ended up bumping into Aaron. "It's okay, Darren. Trust me. She's a good person, just don't speak about this to another person or she will do that to you. I'm glad you made the right choice, brother." I was let back in control just in time to see Justin fall to one knee. "Justin!" Running over to him, I picked him up. "Aaron, start up the car. Darren, help me get Justin in the back." They both nodded and rushed around. We got in the back, and I told Aaron to floor it. "Justin, it's just sleeping medicine. You will be fine, just take a nap." He nodded and slowly closed his eyes. I had his head resting in my lap, and I bent down and kissed his forehead. "I love you."

After a fair bit of time, we made it back to the packhouse and were greeted by the border guards. They pulled Darren and Aaron out of the vehicle and threw them to the ground. I was growling at them to shut up. When they opened the back, they saw Justin passed out and me just sitting there. "Now, why did you do that to Aaron and Darren?" Alex immediately barred his neck as a sign of submission and respect. "I'm sorry, Luna, we didn't know who they were. They smell like rouges, and then I smelt you and the Alpha in the back and my Guard mode kicked into gear. I apologize." Luna… Since when do they call me Luna. It hadn't yet been announced, me and Justin haven't…...

Oh, my mark is visible in this tank top. I forgot about the spot, so Aaron must have seen my spot and automatically called me Luna. Awe what a sweetheart. "Alex, don't call me Luna. Its Melanie. It's alright, you didn't know the situation that was going on, and I understand that. But if you wouldn't mind, let go of Darren and Aaron. Take them to the infirmary, then show them to their rooms. Put them next to each other if you don't mind. I can take care of the Alpha." He nodded and went right into the action. "Levi, let go of Darren. Scott gets off of Aaron. You two go back out on rounds and make sure the border is secure. Darren, Aaron, my name is Alex. If you two will follow me, I can take you to the infirmary to be checked then to your new rooms." He started walking towards the door, and the two had to jog a little to catch up. Aaron stopped and turned around, "Thank you for saving me from that hell hole. I'm sorry I shot Justin, but you spared my brother and me. So, thank you, Luna." He smirked at the last part, that little shit. He knew I didn't want to be called Luna. When everyone was gone, I pulled Justin out of the vehicle and laid him down in the grass. Fuck, this man is heavy. I was struggling even to drag him. Eventually, I gave up and just laid down beside him, snuggling up close to him. I listened to his heartbeat and slowly disappeared into the darkness.
