Chapter 3 - Chapter 2

Crystal felt herself being shaken awake from her sleep. "get up were leaving soon" Devon told her. Crystal got up knowing she would soon meet her dragon and maybe get some answers she was longing for.

Crystal looked around the camp and noticed the camp was almost completely packed up. "you'll be riding with me again today" Devon's father said. Crystal looked at the red dragon and said, "thank you for taking me to the Aurora mountains,"

The dragon spoke in her mind to her and said, "You must be a skilled rider for being able to talk to me," Crystal smiled and said, "No I learned how to talk to wild dragons from the Evergreen dragon elder." The dragon was quiet for a while and asked," You knew the Evergreen forest elder?"

Crystal smiled and said, "My mom is one of Avalon's princess and so had me in secret only the forest elder, a nursemaid who is dead and the forest keeper know's of my birth no one else." Crystal answered. "Why did your mom keep your birth a secret do you know?" the dragon asked.

"it has something to do with who my dad is, my grandfather didn't approve but I know one thing if I find the elder he will know who he is. My mom told him many secrets and so he is guarding those secrets. I was only told that when the time is right ill found my dragon at the Aurora mountains," Crystal said.

"When was the last time you saw your dragon?" the dragon asked. "I haven't met her, she was still an egg when the elders separated us." Crystal replied. "You mean there were two elders close to you when you were born?" the dragon asked.

"If I remember correctly my dragon's mother was the royal crystal dragon elder who laid her eggs close to the cabin. The nursemaid knew where the nest was and for payment in order to keep my birth a secret she forced one of the eggs and me to bond," Crystal said.

Looking at the distant snow-covered mountains. "Riders and dragons usually chose each other at the age of fifteen I can only imagine the elder's anger." the dragon replied. "mom didn't tell me much more about what happened only that one day she will go away and never return," Crystal said.

The dragon looked at the mountains, "the elder disappeared seven years ago, did the evergreen elder say anything?" the dragon asked. "No, only that ill need to find my dragon one day but until then I must stay with the keeper."

The dragon looked at Crystal and said, "It would have been better it the elder left you with the riders." Crystal heard someone coming towards her and asked the dragon "what happened to the elders?"

The dragon took a deep breath and said, "all we dragons knows is that one day they disappeared as if they were never here on this planet." A dragon roared into the sky and Crystal looked where the roar came from.

In her mind she heard, "do not tell anyone what you have told me if anyone asked about your past tell them you don't remember." the red dragon said. "reddy to go?" Devon asked. "Sure am, cant wait to find my dragon," Crystal replied.

Crystal got on the dragon sitting behind its rider. "hold on to me so you won't fall," the rider said. The dragons took off and all though most flew east of the mountains, it was a small group that flew towards the mountains.

Crystal instantly loved the sky and couldn't help but admire the land below. The forest was green the meadows were golden. Deer grazing on the grass, birds singing, and eagles flying high in the sky.

Crystal could see many things many village's but then they flew over a piece of land that was black and dead. Crystal felt said and wondered what had happened on the land but the further they flew the more Crystal realized it could be the black dragons.

"Mom told me about the black dragons, I never imagined it could be like this." Crystal said. "They are one of the most dangerous dragons to fight. Many died in the war against them," the dragon spoke in her mind.

"Do you think the elders died?" Crystal asked. "No the elders are still alive that I know but why they didn't fight to protect us I do not know." the dragon answered. That night making a campfire two wild Crystal dragons landed to meet the dragon riders.

When they saw Crystal they spoke to her in her mind. "Princess we are the guardian dragons and have been sent to escort you and your group to the Crystal palace where you will find your dragon egg. If she hatches for you you may see the king and queen if not you will leave and never return," the crystal dragons spoke.

Crystal looked at the dragons and said, "my mom told me stories of your beauty but nothing compares to it, I will do my best not to waste you time, guardians." Crystal replied.

"We leave in the morning?" they said. "what's going on?" Devon asked. "They came to escort us to the crystal palace, where my dragon egg is being kept." Crystal replied. "you understand them?" Devon's father asked. "They spoke to me in my mind." Crystal replied.

The group of men looked pleased with the news but Crystal had an uneasy feeling that something was wrong and it kept her awake almost all night. "What's wrong Crystal?" Devon's father asked. "I can't sleep, something feels wrong like there's someone here that should be here." Crystal said

The man looked around and said, "so you feel it too," he asked. "Yes, what is it do you think its the dark dragons?" Crystal asked. "No the dark dragons aren't close buy but there is someone here that is a spy for them." Devon's father replied.

Crystal stood up and walked towards a close buy lake to drink water. "Who are you really?" a man asked suddenly. Crystal tried to scream but the man grabbed her mouth and said, "if you keep quiet no one will get hurt," the stranger said. "I don't know what you are talking about?" Crystal replied.

"Why do you look like royalty then?" Crystal felt herself fighting for air. "I don't know anything?" Crystal replied. "Don't lie to me young lady you would be wise not to keep secrets from me." the stranger said.

"I am telling the truth I don't know to me she was just my mom, she never spoke of the family." Crystal replied. "Don't lie, who is your father and mother?" the man kept asking questions. "I don't know?" Crystal kept saying.

The dragons came out of nowhere and breathed fire chasing the stranger into the woods. Devon came to Crystal and asked, "are you okay" Crystal replied. "Yes but he wanted to know of my mother," Crystal said. "Who is your mother?" Devon asked. "No, I don't know, and even if I knew I was told to keep it a secret only the elders know for a good reason." Crystal replied.
