Crystal found she couldn't sleep with the man in the area. "Crystal are you sure you do not know who your mother is."Devon's father John asked. "If I knew would it be wise to say it here?" Crystal asked.
"Don't worry Crystal my rider is just looking out for everyone's safety, ill tell him what you told me but ill make sure he doesn't tell anyone else." Crystal looked at the red dragon and replied. "They said for a reason not to tell anyone?" Crystal replied.
"My rider has to know your mother is the princess of Avalon, Crystal." The dragon becomes silent to Crystal and after a long time John stood in front of Crystal and asked, "are you sure she's your mother?"
Crystal looked at the red dragon and felt betrayed for a second. "The elders would know, they were there when I was born." Crystal replied. John gave a deep sign and said, "Many died because of your mother's marriage."
Crystal looked around the camp men and replied, "My mother's current husband isn't my father that I know for a fact. There's only one elder that can answer your question John, you must seek the Evergreen forest dragon elder. My mother has told him who my father is but only to him, you won't gain much by asking me who my father is," Crystal said.
Crystal looked around and kept talking, "at the time she disappeared from my life I was only ten and I do not remember everything only that I need to find my dragon when the time is right." Crystal said.
"So your mother indeed is the princess and you are the elders." a man spoke from the trees. Crystal knew immediately she had made a mistake. "Who are you?" Crystal asked. "Who I am is none of your business? What I am interested in is you young lady, or should I call you a princess?" the man said.
"This will be interesting?" another said from behind a tree. Crystal took a step back and realize she must run and hide but before she could do anything she realized she was surrounded.
"She was only my mother and even if I was the princess daughter how do you not know I wasn't a villagers daughter. Many befriended the forest keeper." Crystal said "I do not think your parents were random people," one of the men said.
"So what if I don't know my mother's name, you can't assume you know anything." Crystal replied. "O I think I can, do you know how many died because of your mother." the man said walking over to Crystal.
"You see John over there, his wife died because of your mother," the man said. Crystal heard a crashing sound and as soon as everyone looked away she ran for the forest as fast as she could. Crystal didn't notice where she was going and for a few hours, she didn't care.
The survival skills her mother thought her kicked in and she remembered what the elder had said, "never let your guard down." Crystal found herself running withing a forest that doesn't have much room to move.
She soon had to slow down, only to find a waterfall. Crystal remembered the hidden cave in the Evergreen forest and so she took a chance and her luck paid off. There was indeed a cave on the inside.
This cave was bigger than the last one and so she found a hiding spot deep within the cave. Crystal found being consumed with darkness as tiredness and exhaustion took over her body and fell fast asleep.
When Crystal woke up she was puzzled at first for she was sleeping on the cold hard floor of a cave but looking around she soon knew where she was and why?
"What is going on?" Crystal asked. Crystal walked towards the cave entrance and saw that it was dark outside. She slowly went outside and checked her surroundings. There were no dragons or danger close by.
She felt a pull towards the mountain and decided to climb up the mountain. "one way or the other she was going to find her dragon." Crystal climbed the mountain until the morning she reached a cave and hid inside.
The next morning she saw the snow-covered mountains. She heard the eagles and she studied the forest below. "This isn't the Evergreen forest anymore but it sure is beautiful." Crystal whispered softly.
Crystal heard dragons coming and so she hid deeper in the cave until that night so she could climb even more. Crystal felt lonely and wondered if her life was meant to be this lonely forever.
That night she attempted to climb even more following the pull she was feeling and in the morning she found the to guardian dragons sleeping outside a wall, "you two sure had it easy flying here" Crystal spoke out loud.
The guardian dragons opened there eyes and one spoke. "you ran why?" Crystal looked behind her and said, "I've been locked up for seven years and haven't met any humans other than my mom the keeper, and the villagers that locked me up, I am not going to be locked up again. Do you know how it feels to be chained up for seven years?" Crystal asked.
The crystal guardian spoke and said, "follow us we will take you to the palace," Crystal looked at them and asked, "you're not flying there are you?" The crystal guardians looked at each other and one said, "No we are walking there considering you don't have your dragon yet."
Crystal followed the dragons admiring the surrounding areas covered in snow and ice but as soon as they passed through an underground tunnel she was met with a beautiful garden. Fresh green grass wildflowers a waterfall flowing into a lake of fresh mountain water and announcing her arrival were the crystal dragons.
A lady walked out to greet Crystal, "good morning Crystal?" Crystal looked at the woman and saw her in a beautiful white dress with long sleeves. Her hair braided neatly and she was wearing brown sandals. "Morning miss" Crystal replied. "Please do call me, Sophie" she replied.
"you had a difficult journey here?" Sophie asked. "Yes I was locked up for seven years I don't know who to trust since the elders and my mom told me to trust no one." Sophie looked at Crystal and asked, "why did they lock you up?" Crystal showed Sophie her dragon rider tattoo and said, "they hate dragon riders."
