As Ember was walking from the library back to her dorm, she was unaware that someone was chasing after her. Ember turned her gaze to see Gabriel catching up to her.
"Ember, hey! So, uh, you want to be my date to the Aphrodite Day party?"
"Why? Is this a part of some sleazy dare or something." Ember asked.
"Wha... No! I actually would like to go to a party with you, have fun, get to know you, maybe be friends. But if you aren't interested..." Gabriel paused.
Gabriel began to walk away, but Ember called out
"Wait! I'll go with you, Gabe."
Gabriel whipped his head to face the fire witch and smiled at her.
"I like it when you call me that."
"Gabe?"
"Yeah. Gabe. I'll see you then, Emmy."
As Gabriel walked away, Ember smiled at the nickname he had just given her. Emmy. Her cheeks were becoming pink. What she didn't know was that Gabriel was also feeling giddy after their quick talk.
Ember walked up the stairs and to her dorm, and slammed the door behind her.
"I just got asked to go to the party for Aphrodite Day!" Ember exclaimed.
"Who by?" Blanche inquired.
Well Ember can't say it was her dormmate's brother "A guy... Gab... Gary. His name's Gary."
Marina looked up "Gary? Is he a New-Blood?"
"Uhhh... yeah. He's a electricity warlock." Nice save Ember.
Claire rubbed her hands excitedly "Well, this, my fellow witches, calls for some dress shopping."
Evelyn was confused "Can we even leave campus for that?"
"We can. We just have to sign in and out to let the teachers know." Iris explained.
Claire claps her hands together "Well... let us go."
While the girls were plotting their dress-shopping, Reed was sitting under a tree in the courtyard, watching as the seven girls were lined up with the other students heading off campus. He particularly payed attention to her... Claire deLuna.
There was something about her that just sucked him in, but he had to open his damned mouth and pure bullshit flew out, fucking his chances. Reed wishes sometimes he had been born with a filter, so at least he could stand a chance with talking to this particular mystic.
After meeting her, he looked her up. Only daughter and heir to the Lunarisian throne, looked as if the actual sun and moon made her, with her sunlight blonde hair, her moon glow skin and her eyes that had sparkling stars in them. How in the All Gods name was he gonna get a chance with a witch who probably had suitors lined in front of her palace!
"You alright, mate?" The Polarian Prince asked.
Reed huffed "Do I look like I'm alright?"
"Honestly? No. What happened?"
"Me and my damned mouth, that's what happened. See that witch there."
Gabriel looked to see Claire in line, talking with her friends, and turned to face Reed.
"Yeah. What about her?" Gabriel looked at the warlock.
Reed groaned "Every time I go near her, my mouth shoots shit and we end up pissing each other off."
"So you like her, but rather than just spitting it out, you'd rather you were both fuming." Gabriel summarised.
"I know, I'm a dickhead." Reed sighed.
"Sounds like you two are soulmates."
Reed rolled his eyes in disbelief "Nah. I don't believe in that."
"Soulmates feel all sorts of emotions around each other." Gabriel explained calmly.
"And how do you know about this shit, then?" Reed harshly remarked.
Gabriel looked at the warlock seriously "I read about it. My parents are soulmates, and soulmating is a sacred practice that goes back to Hecate I."
Reed exclaimed "Boring."
"Soulmates get funny feelings in their bodies when they meet their soulmate, something they cannot rationalise or explain away with simple logic. What was your first feeling upon seeing her?" Gabriel wondered.
Reed smirked "Attracted. Look at her, she can have any dick she wanted."
"But you speak bullshit and she doesn't like you." Gabriel reminded.
"Yeah. I'm fucked! Name's Reed."
"Gabriel Winters."
Gabriel extended his hand and Reed shook it. When the nature warlock looked up again, the seven girls had left.
Damn!
