"W-what?" she stammered. Mark faced her. He always had that straight face, the reason why people always comment that he is snobbish. But now, the way he looked at her, he looked serious… very serious.
"Why…" he took one step. Lanie stepped back. "...are you…" he took one step again. Lanie stepped back again but her back touched the railings. Mark put his both arms on her both sides, locking her. "...digging my past?" he finished his question.
Lanie bravely looked bravely at his eyes. Her brows furrowed. She saw no emotions in his eyes. He was very serious yet his eyes had no emotions. She felt like he was not the Mark he knew.
