This was supposed to be a normal day for Brian. A normal monotonous and boring day. He woke up at his normal time, still sleepy as always due to lack of motivation and catching up on some TV series late into the night. He got through his morning activities quickly, ate the leftover pizza from last night and left for his job. He worked at an advertisement company and made up witty ideas for shitty products with his team. He was good at his job, not the best but good.
Well currently that was the only good thing going on in his life. He had a complicated relationship with his father. His mother had died when he was five due to cancer. That led his father being devastated and into the embrace of (more than what's good for a human) scotch and occasional beating of Brian. That didn't mean that his father didn't love him. He did, but when you are hammered five out of seven nights a week and still in grief over the loss of love of your life. Then you can lose your temper sometimes and beat the shit out of your kid once in a while. He still loved him though. Provided for everything for him from education to once in a while philosophical talk which you can only give without being embarrassed is when you're buzzed out of your mind. So he was a terrible father but still a loving one.
So when Brian turned eighteen he moved out of the house to decide what he wanted to do with his life. He wandered around for about a month when he finally decided that he needed to go back home and get into some university for studies. It wasn't his fault. Life outside was just too hard and work was boring. So he went back home and his father welcomed him back with open arms and two tight slaps. So Brian got into a community college, got his degree in management studies and then got the job in his friend's father company where he is still working. That was when he finally left his father's house.
He was currently 29 and single for almost a year. He had very few relationships in his life. It wasn't because he was ugly or something. It was just because his standards were too high (for others, not for himself). Now in Brian's defence, he was quite smart but lazy, witty but condescending and a very humble narcissist. Maybe that is why he was having his midlife crisis quite early. You know all that crap about meaning of life, no one understands me and deep things like finally deciding to go back to gym.
Now coming back to present day, Brian was on his way to his office and mulling over unreal thoughts to turn his life into more better and productive one. While standing near the crosswalk for light to turn green he suddenly heard a shout "Help, he got my bag". He turned back to see a 18-19 year old something kid running away from a very beautiful woman with a black purse in his hands. He finally found a chance to do something good and meaningful in his life and decided to intercept the guy. And it was not because the woman was very beautiful, well atleast that is what he told himself. So just when the guy was about to pass him Brian stood in front of him and attacked with a right hook to knock him out. Well that was the plan atleast but the guy effortlessly blocked him and pushed him towards crosswalk. Brian staggered back onto the cross walk and then heard a blaring horn. He turned to see a bus just a moment away from smashing him and thought 'shit, I knew I should have joined the gym'.
So this is how the life of Brian ended but his story had just begun!
