Chapter 26 - Chapter Twenty six

*Audrey's POV*

They all seemed relieved.

I told myself the school would have some time of peace without me around... I guess I didn't account for them.

Terry stood to my left glaring hatefully at me, Bruce looked so happy like he'd gotten another A in his tests, Conner and Kevin had that satisfied look too, while Eve just glued herself to my body.

Their actions clearly pointed that they missed me these past few days... which is why I'm letting this thorough invasion of personal space go this time. I decided to pat her head and hold her, at least till I'm allowed to resume school, she can have this memory.

But she really is squeezing the life out of me!

"Why didn't you come to school or even call us once Price! you've got everyone worried about you!" Terry yelled.

I smirked, "Oh? and I'm guessing you're part of everyone? did Terry Werry miss me hmm?" I cooed. the others tried to hide their giggles and Terry turned a shade of red.

"Absolutely not! I knew you were fine all along but because YOU didn't bother calling or informing the school, everyone else was bugging me about you!"

I don't believe him.

"Admit you missed me and I'll explain everything, if not, you're not allowed to tell anyone you saw me"

" I missed you" he said looking at the ground.

Wuss.

"My sister and Cousin got into a little accident, so I'm staying home with them till they recover. it wasn't so serious but I have to make sure they don't do anything they're not supposed to. The guy they crashed into covered their medical bills so we're fine, they even gave us some compensation money since they won't be able to go work for a while.

They're fine, I'm just acting like a helper till they're back on their feet, though, I'm only helping my sister, my Cousin's girlfriend took him to her place earlier today. I just came out to get some painkillers, that's all" I lied.

"Seriously bro? why didn't you just tell the school all that?!" Terry fumed.

"Because I don't want visitors, no check up, no nothing"

"Does that also mean that-"

"I don't want you guys in my house either. I'll come back to school soon, I promise. You guys should go now alright?" I said and pushed Eve off me.

She stared at me with teary eyes.

"But at least let's help you, I promise we won't make any noise, we'll clean and arrange whatever, we'll help with food and everything-"

"No",

I can't have them arranging ammo nor let them see my sister's paranoid state. it was tough just getting outside to get her painkillers. She tends to forget she's not indestructible, not to mention, not getting proper care means she could actually die.

"Uh Audrey? are you okay?" Eve's soft voice drifted to my ears reminding me that they were still here. I looked at them and saw worry plastered on their faces.

"I'm fine, but it's time for you guys to leave, I'll watch you get a cab before leaving" I told them.

they threw a tantrum refusing to go, I hailed a cab myself and forced them in, Making sure to be more careful with Eve since she's the only girl here. I watched the driver leave before heading back.

.............

Halfway up the stairs, I could already see Eve's blonde hair hiding behind one of the potted plants by the big double door.

I sighed and just kept walking.

I knew they'd do something like this, and they won't be satisfied if they didn't at least know where I lived.

I can take care of Doughnut myself, I don't need their help. I definitely don't.

I decided to let them see the apartment door, so I walked all the way up the stairs knowing fully well they were following not so inconspicuously behind me. they were murmuring and shushing each other a little too loudly. I ran my hand through my hair as I walked. I'm tired, having to deal with these bunch of looneys wasn't what I planned for today.

suddenly, I noticed that the closer we got to the floor I live on, the feeling that something was off rose inside of me ... I suddenly started second guessing my choice. Each step forward felt wrong, and my chest began to tighten. I decided to walk loudly towards the door, a few steps closer, a bullet hole suddenly appeared on the door.

I froze for a brief moment before abruptly facing the others who had been gathered up behind me.

"Leave" I said quietly glaring at them intently. i looked down at them as if I were truly angered, but I wasn't, they seriously need to leave here, fast.

"Audrey i just-"

"Eve, the only thing you guys presence here does is upset me, i don't have the time to put up with your nonsense, Get out, Now."

Her lips trembled as she stared me, her eyes glossed over while the guys pulled her away to leave. "Get out" I said again quietly. They grumbled but picked up the pace anyway.

Once their footsteps faded, I put my left hand in my pocket and used my other hand holding the pharmacy nylon of painkillers to gently open the door.

Doughnut's eyes went wide once she saw me. her legs were shaking as she stood pointing a gun at someone backing me, huge and sitting cross-legged on the single seat black couch in the corner of the room. it was him, he had a can of beer in one hand. He tilted his head back to look at me coldly.

"Shut the door kid."
