Chapter 3 - A Blessing In disguise?

With puffy cheeks full of baby fat and squinting teary eyes into a tiny slit, Shizuki denied her completely nonsensical conjecture inside her head but no matter how much she thought back and pieced in the facts laid before her, only one possibility came in her mind.

She was reincarnated as a baby!

So that meant....

Shizuki finally opened her eyes wide, staring at the beautiful fairy-like lady who suddenly widened her eyes as if she was pleasantly surprised by something.

She...is my new mother?

The word 'mother' left a strange taste in her mouth and her heart seemed to be squeezed lightly by an invisible hand, falling deep in thought as a blurry image of a woman flashed in her eyes which she couldn't remember the face of, anymore.

A mother, huh? I don't need it. Not anymore.

A gloomy shadow covered her slightly dimmed eyes as she closed her eyes again, not willing to see the beautiful lady as if trying to escape from the reality placed in front of her eyes.

Meanwhile, Violette and Johann were stunned into a daze for a few seconds after they saw their daughter opening her eyes wide, showing a pair of dazzlingly beautiful eyes, although only for a short while, it was enough to let them see it clearly.

A pair of mismatched eyes; ocean blue eye with a silvery light and bright golden eye with a shade of light red.

But they weren't stunned only because of this but instead the rich magical currents flowing inside her beautiful eyes. Anyone with sharp eyes and good magical sense could see it. The pair of married couple were no exception.

Getting out of her daze, Violette turned her gaze to her husband after staring at the baby in shock and disbelief, saying, "This....dear, did you see that?"

She thought that her eyes were playing tricks on her because of exhaustion so she turned to her husband to confirm her doubts, only to see that he was staring at the baby with a complicated look in his usually calm eyes.

Johann finally tore his gaze away from the baby and looked at his wife then nodded slowly, indicating that he also saw the same thing she did and that it wasn't an illusion.

Violette suddenly drew in cold air as her expression changed from utter shock to pure delight. Her pale face seemed to have brightened up like a sun, her exhaustion taken over by excitement instead.

Johann also showed a genuine smile after seeing her like this, his deep blue eyes overflowing with warmth. He was truly amazed by the unexpected surprise.

"Thank the lord, oh god Zysyss! Thank you very much!" Violette wept in tears of happiness as she leaned on her husband's arms, they were both very happy.

In this world of magic, the people who could use magic or aura were known as blessed ones. The stronger the blessed ones, the harder it was for them to reproduce so it was very easy to see how important it was for them to even have one heir.

Violette and Johann had been married for almost 10 years. All these years they had been trying to get a child yet got no results much to their disappointment. Then finally after all these years of waiting, Violette got pregnant which set off a cheerful and festive mood in everyone.

It was already a huge blessing that the god graced them with a child and now they got yet another pleasant surprise in the disguise of their own child! How could they not be happy? How could they not be grateful and emotional?

A person could only learn how to use magic and sense it after they turned 5 years old, even after considering the various blessings received from the god after the naming ceremony it would still take about 4 years or more for a child to be able to learn magic. Even the rare geniuses took 3 years or more to be able to start learning it.

Every newborn babies had a little amount of mana in their bodies which was absorbed in their mother's womb, except for those who were innately incapable of using magic. But it still took a long while for them to adapt to the magical energy in the world and make the mana blend into their body completely like their own blood.

The rare geniuses were called as such because their adaptation was faster and their affinity with magic was stronger than most of the masses.

But the amount of magic flowing in their baby's eyes were almost to the point of overflowing! Which could only mean one thing; their baby was born with an innate magical physique!

Innate magical physiques were seen as the most compatible physiques with high affinity with magic. Anyone born with such physiques were bound to grow into great magicians in the future thus they were treated as natural born prodigies. But they were truly very rare with only the possibility of one being born among a million in a hundred years. So it was seen as a great blessing to the family where such babies were born in.

Innate magical physique wasn't a single type but instead just a term to categorise all kinds of such physiques into one. There were a variety of examples and records of such physiques that appeared in the past in various books of history. All physiques differed in terms of affinity, control, life force and many other factors which also determined the rarity and preciousness of a selected few physiques that came at the top of the list.

Magic was an indispensable force for almost all the living beings in the world and thus talented magicians were highly respected and sought after by everyone. A tier 5 magician was qualified to stand on equal footing to the rulers of some small nations while higher tiers magicians were seen as individual powerhouses.

Just from the amount of magic overflowing in their daughter's eyes, Violette and Johann could tell that it was anything but normal. As for whether it was good or not for their child's future, only time could tell. They could slowly get to know about it since they had enough time till their daughter grew up.

Just then, the door of the spacious room was swung open and a middle-aged butler with a monocle on his left eye came in with very light and proper footsteps which was almost soundless. He had shoulder-length curly brown hair tied loosely at the back and looked tall and slender in his black butler uniform.

Stopping before the drawn light red curtains that separated the inner part of the bedroom, the butler stood straight in a professional manner and spoke lightly, "Master, the preparation for the naming ceremony is complete. His majesty, the king and her majesty, the queen are already heading towards the cathedral to personally witness the ceremony as reported by the personal aide of his majesty."

Hearing the butler's report, Violette and Johann calmed down from their excitement. With a light cough, Johann replied,"I got it. Prepare the carriage and let the priestess in."

"Yes, master," said the butler as he bowed slightly then withdrew from the room to complete his orders. Right after the butler went out, a petite woman in a priestess' dress came inside. Her whole body seemed to be shrouded in a calming and pure light.

Standing in front of the drawn curtains, the priestess made a prayer sign with her hands in front of her chest and bowed slightly as she said, "May the god bless you, your highnesses."

"You may forego the formalities, priestess Sharon. Please enter and check on my wife's health."Johann's calm and mature voice sounded from the bedroom.

"Yes, your highness." saying that, the priestess named Sharon entered the bedroom after the maid servants parted open the curtain to let her in. Johann stood up from his seat and let her occupy it instead. He also let the wet-nurse hold onto Shizuki who had somehow fallen asleep in the middle of deep thoughts.

After taking her seat with his approval, the priestess chanted a spell and a bright blue light shrouded Violette's body. Her health slowly improving in front of the naked eyes. Her exhausted pale face slowly regained a healthy white colour and appeared more smooth and rosy. In just a short while, her fatigue was completely gone and she was already full of energy.

The blue light gradually faded away as the priestess took deep breaths, she was sweating a bit from the depletion in her mana. Drinking the water provided by a maid servant, she felt a bit refreshed then stood up from her seat. Bowing slightly, she said, "Her highness' condition wasn't too serious and the labour hadn't damaged her health. The healing didn't take long before she was fully healed. Just if possible, proper rest is recommended for her highness to slowly recover her mana exhausted during the labour."

"Thank you very much for your help. You may find the head butler for the medical fees." Johann nodded in gratitude, calmly, as he had a maid servent see her off.

Now fully recovered, Violette got out of the bed. Johann quickly came to her side to support her in case she lost her footing.

"The priestess just said to take a rest for a while yet you are already out of the bed," he said in a helpless tone.

"It's fine. I'm not so fragile as to not being able to get out of the bed. And you also heard it from James that the royal majesties were already on the way to the cathedral for our baby's naming ceremony. How could I be left out from such an important event of my child? Even if I weren't healed by the priestess, I would still attend it, you know my personality." said Violette with a gentle smile on her now radiant face.

Johann sighed softly at her words but couldn't make himself to deny her wish.

"Alright then, I won't say anymore. Let us head off to the cathedral after you have finished changing."
