Chapter 12 - 12 : Falling...

It wasn't that late at night when I arrived back at my flat, Jo had woke me up and escorted me back to my place which I'm glad he did, because I'd be too sleepy to even know where I'm going.

Firstly wanting to continue my sleep I went to wash off and hopped to bed but now I couldn't get a blink of sleep as I kept recalling back my thoughts. 'I need to find an explanation for all of this'.

I headed out to the kitchen and Sarah was on the island frustratedly typing out on her laptop, I flopped on the seat in front of her. I went to get a peek of what she was doing.

She groaned and something was bothering her for sure, I went behind and snatched a bag of crisp off the top shelf and flopped next to her, eyeing her then back at her laptop. It looks like she was going to send an email.

"What is that for?" I asked snacking on the crisps

"I'm signing up for a competition." She mumbled.

Hearing this I squealed and ran up to her jumping up and down while clapping, to which she groaned and dumped her head on a pillow in front of her.

"OMG THAT GREAT! But groaning like you hate it? Am I missing something?" not quite sure what the problem was.

Sitting up she looked me in the eyes then began to groan again. "I don't think I'm ready for this."

"What! Sarah, you need to do this. What fun is life when you're not taking any risks."

"I like my life the way it is,"

"No you don't. Argh, you really need to lighten up a bit, no more boring Sarah. Come on we need to go next door," I went to close the laptop and took hold of Sarah's arm, dragging her out.

Pulling back, she made a stop at once. "Why are we going over?" she asked, confused.

"Well I know Haykal does loads of competitions, and girl, you need some motivation and lots of help right now," I explained and continued dragging her while she tries to resist.

Ringing the bell we waited outside their door. Not long a tall brown haired boy opened the door Lab coat and a syringe with some blue liquid filled in it.

"Oh hey girls, Sarah." Danial greeted winking at Sarah's direction making her look away.

"What's with the syringe?" as I pointed at the object in his hand.

"Some lab stuff I'm working on. Anyways come in." he ushered us both in.

"So what do you two ladies need?" he asked, placing the syringe away and taking his gloves off. We were led to the kitchen sitting on the stools.

"Well this lad needs Haykal's help," I explained pointing sideways.

"He's in his room, you can go there unless you want my help." He flirted smirking at poor Sarah who was now red.

"Uh no thanks," She leapt off going to his room.

"No help from me?" he shouted, smirking but she was already gone in their corridor.

"Maybe next time lad." I joked.

Taking a jar of cookies he placed them in front of me which I gladly took munching on those chewy delights.

"Hey Dan, help me, will you. So ever since a couple of weeks until now I've been feeling feverish I think, but the thing is they come suddenly and then the next thing you know they're gone, oh and with a stomach ache and rapidly beating heart, and the weird thing is it only happens when I'm with this specific person. Do you think I've caught on a disease? Could it be that I'm allergic to this person? Is that even possible?" I asked seriously.

"Allergic to someone? I don't think that's possible, I mean it hasn't been proven scientifically so no way,"

"So then what?"

"Well let me see, try thinking of the person then, I just want to test something,"

"Think of the person? Now?" he just nodded

'Here goes nothing,'

I closed my eyes and thought back to the dinner, back to when Jo pulled me to my seat when I got frustrated but his insuring smile could always be the source to the fluttery feeling.

"So is it a guy?" Danial suddenly interrupt

"Well ye-"

"What it's a girl?"

"What no-"

"Omg is it?" he teased

"Danial shut up no, it' a guy" I confessed

This got his attention and he smirked.

"What are you on about?" looking at him suspiciously.

Finally letting out a laugh he's been holding hee went up and went to his phone. Getting back on his seat he showed me a picture. It was a picture of a very attractive looking Jo wearing our Univs Jersey and he swiped his hair back. My heart skipped a beat as a familiar feeling of flutter was erupting. I could feel the heat rise to my cheeks.

"This specific person?"

Rising I pointed at Danial. "HOW DO YOU KNOW?!" ignoring the fact that Dan has Jo's photo.

Instead of replying, he started cackling as if my situation was rather hilarious. Fuming I went to sit back done and munched on another cookie.

Wiping the tears that escape, now a look of amusement was plastered on his face. "How can you be so smart and dumb at the same time." He chuckled

"Hey!"

"You, my sweet friend, have caught a common disease."

"How am I supposed to know." I huffed.

"Because it's very common, even though I'm having it now."

"What? Wait, don't tell me I caught it from you." I accused him.

"Sheesh calm down."

"So what is it?" I asked, anticipating an answer.

"Falling in love." He spoke smugly crossing his arms.

'Falling in love' My mind is trying to process the word.

'Falling in love'

'Falling in love'

"You're joking." Glancing up he was shaking his head.

"Why do you think so? You have no proof," I denied.

"Gurl, the way you react is the main proof, you said you only feel these symptoms when you're around him and only him right?" I nodded.

"So what else could it be, cuz I'm a hundred percent sure it is and period, he sassed

I got back munching on the cookies, then looked back at him.

"What do I do now?" I asked.

Looking at me as if I was weird, "Well you should go get him,"

"How?"

"How?" he repeated.

I nodded and waited in anticipation hoping he'd know.

"Have you not have fallen in love? At least have a crush? Or maybe have you not dated anyone?"

"I- well the guys as in my brothers and best friends would scare him away before we could ever get further to talking comfortably with each other, so nope" I shrugged

"Oh goodness, what am I going to do with this kid," he sighs then sits in front of me snatching the jar.

"I would love to give you advice, but man, even I'm struggling myself,"

"Sarah?"

"Sarah" he nodded

"Well good luck on her, other than her male family members and mine oh and also Jerry and Aden who are our childhood friends, she hardly interacts with anyone else. But hey you went on a date with her and she went willingly that got to be a good sign," I nudged him trying to cheer him up.

"Anyways I'm going to head back home, take care of Sarah will ya,"

"Want a jar of cookies with you?" he offered and I willingly took it away heading out.

Now I was back in bed munching on some cookies as I stared off to the opened window. As much as I would love to get back to sleep, I couldn't help my thoughts wandering. Those words kept repeating itself like a broken record player.

'Falling in love'

Could it really be? Am I actually allowing this?

'What's the fun in life when you're not taking risks' my mind reminded me.

Well it wouldn't hurt to try wouldn't it, besides my brothers aren't here, Sarah doesn't mind I guess, and I do like him. I smiled.

I was nervous of course, I've never fallen for a boy this hard, especially when you've got guys on your tail always making sure there's a nice distance between me and a stranger.

"Hope things go well…"

I was five minutes into a movie trying to distract myself from the thoughts of you know who, but my mind keeps on wandering. Bashing my head a few times to the closest pillow, with shouts and curses getting muffled by it.

But the next thing I know I had my phone out, the screen lit with his contact number on it. And was on my feet, the movie on pause, strolling back and forward in front of the TV.

'I shouldn't it's too late a night,'

'But it's only eightish o'clock'

'But I'll be a bother,'

'He did say he had nothing to do tonight,"

'But won't it be weird? Yeah I just just go back to the movie,'

'I can't. Can't you calm down mind! I want to peacefully watch this movie,'

'You don't even know what you watching you should go and call him,'

"What are you doing?" A voice spoked, snapping me out of the internal battle I had with myself, I was too focused. I didn't even hear her coming in through the door.

"Nothing," I shrugged her off.

"Anyways did you get what you wanted?" I asked, flopping back on the sofa. Sarah came around and slouched down beside me.

"Kind of. I'll just come over again tomorrow, looks like he had his own problems to deal with, I didn't want to bother," she sighed.

"The call is connected you know," Sarah motioned at the screen.

And it was in fact connected in line with Jo. 'I must have accidentally pressed call when I sat down,'

"Hello?" His voice called out. 'Shit what do I do?' Not realizing I sat still for a few minutes straight.

Sarah stood up heading to the kitchen when she shouted, "You should answer that,"

Cursing to myself, I stood up heading to my room, "H-hey?" I called which sounded more like a question.

"Oh hey, thought there was something wrong with my phone, what's up?"

'What do I say?!'

"No- nothing, I just- I think I accidentally pressed call when I sat down,"

"Oh as in you butt-dialled," he laughed.

"Kind of," OK, now I was more than embarrassed. Slapping my head with my palm.

"I'm actually kind of bored right now, so I'm glad you called," my heart thumped faster hearing this.

Rolling over on my bed I couldn't contain my smile. "So how's Toby and Toba?" bringing a question I always ask.

"They're actually asleep, It's cute really, wanna see?"

"Yasss!"

"Alright hold up,"

And that is how I ended up video calling him at night.
